"Shall we then?" He said as he walked to the entrance of the classroom. "Do you wanna take the shot?" He asks.

"Hang on..."

She closed her eyes, and every living thing in the room--except the people--followed her instructions.

Then she snapped the picture. It looked very professional.

Merlin

Once the class had entered and got seated, he saw the confused look. A look he'd seen many times, the look of students looking for the teacher. He smirked and staying in the back of the room, he casted a perception altering spell, not making him invisible, just preventing people from looking directly at him.

He then casted an illusionary mist that spread to the front of the room before forming into an old man.

I love this.... Always fun to play tricks on the students... he thought as the figure completely formed.

Merlin spoke, but not through his mouth, but through the mouth of the old man.

"Welcome class to Magic 101." He said, his voice older than normal, "Let us start off with a simple task.... Can you find the illusion in this class room?"

Mr. Marler carefully observed the picture. 'Did they actually..?' Mr. Marly gave a small smile and said "The purpose of this project was to explore your new environment, this school. Go back out and find something interesting," He gave the camera back to Ely and wished them luck.

NICO

"Great, well now what?" Nico asked Ely as they walked out of the room.

"We're painting. I'll judge your style based off your art work." Aurelia told Julia as she looked up from her own painting, a study of her family to check her students' works. Her painting was everyone important in her life, her husband, her three kids, Dominique and her sisters, Aurelia'a parents, her twin brother, her little twin sisters almost twenty years younger than her, her uncles, her recently aquired aunt and cousins, and her in-laws all gathered around the garden in the back of their house.

She came to James' work first, a picture of a beautiful woman with dark red hair. She looked like her aunt Annael, her uncle Mike's wife.
"This is absolutely beautiful Mr. Patton. May I ask who the lovely young woman is, I can tell you care for her a great deal by the emotions in this piece." Aurelia said as she came up to Natalie's work next.
"Miss Kleinschmidt, this is...wow. I've never really seen a piece as, thought provoking as this one." Aurelia said, having really no other words. It was a powerful piece, powerfully sad but also had a message.

Tündér felt magic radiate through the room as she took her seat, an elderly man looked to be the one teaching the class today. Being at this school for a year she knew what her magic teacher looked like, magic always made her happy.
The young witch smirked at the question. "You must do besser zan zat, Úr Merlin. My father is the greatest vizard on earth and he teach me everyzing he knows. Also, you are my magic teacher are you not? You taught me as vell."
She 0icked up her wand and waved it.
"Finite Incantantem." she said, it was a spell to undo all existing spells in that space, unless it was a particularly powerful curse or spell but this was only an illusory spell. A silver light came from her wand and shimmered over the room, the false Merlin should be dispelled and the illusion broken.

Merlin

Merlin chuckled, "I wouldn't call your father the greatest wizard on the earth as greatness is not an easy term to define." With that he walked to the front of the class, "Greetings class. I am your teacher, Merlin. And yes, that Merlin."

He then looked to Tündér, "I see you still use a wand... Very well." He then turned to the class, "On that note, let me draw your attention to different casting styles." He waved his hand and notes appeared on the board, "Different people have different preferences of how to cast spells. For example, like Tündér demonstrated, one's voice can be used in unison with the use of a wand or staff to cast spells. But that isn't the only way to cast spells and harness magic." He said as a small fireball appeared in his hand.

"Some people don't use words or items to cast magic, they just need their mind. But this does not mean they are superior to others. No matter ones casting style, their strength is the same. For example, if I was to fire this fire ball, and melt say... The window. Then I was to fire another one with the use of a wand, it would still melt the glass." Merlin paused, "Before we go to deep into anything to do with magic, you all need to find your casting style. That will be your homework."

He then snapped his finger. Suddenly, large textbooks appeared on the desk of each student, "This is your textbook. Yes, you all get a textbook. Everything that I will cover is in that book. Don't lose it." He smiled, "Now for ground rules. This class is the most dangerous class you could have taken. One. Listen to the instructions, and follow them to the dot. Two. No experimenting with spells outside of this room. Three. When we do experiment with spells or doing any dangerous casting or work, we must always follow the safety protocol. Four. There will be no goofing around in this class, nor will there be any using spells on other students, unless you have permission. Five. There will be no casting of dangerous spells on any one under any circumstances. Six. If anyone breaks rules one through five, they will be given a punishment suitable for their wrong. Seven. You will always do your homework, and I don't give extensions. Eight. Always come to class prepared, I will make sure you know exactly what you need each day. Nine. Respect everyone else, be quiet when others are talking. And ten. What happens in Magic 101, stays in Magic 101."

"Oh," James had looked at the teacher as she walked to the easel next to his own, "It is my wi - sister. Yep, this is Elizabeth." He smiled at the portrait, "Since she is related to the monarchs of Britain and what not I figured a portrait was befitting." He neglected with great purpose saying that it was either this or some gruesome scene of man killing man in whatever war happened to plague his head - it was a curse.

He kept looking at the painting and longing to see Elizabeth again, school sucked just for the sole fact that he did not get to see her constantly.

Julia smiled and nodded to Aurelia. "Okay!" Then she got out of her chair and fetched what she needed for her artwork while whisteling "Jingle Bells". It was not even near the season, but when you're half Christmas spirit you can't really help it. It was the same with her art.

She began to work with the colours. Slowly but surely, an untamed wilderness appeared on the canvas. A neverending forest, covered in snow. The night sky above the trees were full of stars, but one was bigger and brighter than the others. The star of Betlehem. It looked really good so far, she thought. The painting just needed some cute animals too, and it would be perfect.

James looked over at Julia's painting and smiled, "It is nice, real calming, could use some tiny little animals though, that would be adorable." James offered Julia some of his paint off his palate, the colors were light browns and deeper auburns, "I used them to paint her hair, I am done with them now if you need them, I mixed them myself so they should be unique." He did not know if she wanted or needed them, but he did not need them and figured it polite to ask.

"Huh?" Julia looked over her shoulder at James, surprised. She had been so concentrated at painting that she hadn't noticed him watching at first. "Oh! Thank you! I was thinking exactly the same, some bunnies, hares, caribous, squirrels, weasels, deers, birds and so on..." She rambled and looked at the colours he offered, then at him. He was kind of cute. "Thank you, again." She smiled and took the colours he offered. They would be perfect for branches and fur (at least for the animals that didn't have white winter fur) and such, she thought.

As she was now in her "painting trance", she immediately went back to work facing the canvas, oblivious to the possibility that James wanted to make conversation, or that it would be polite to look at his painting in return. She didn't mean anything bad by doing so, it was just yet another of her quirks.

James watched Julia paint and silently saw the scene be dotted with animals of all sorts, they made the painting lovely and vibrant, he laughed slightly, "Elizabeth will be glad to know that her hair is the same color as the little woodland creatures." Grabbing a canvas from beside his easel James put the blank square on his stand and began to let his hands do whatever his mind envisioned.

Soon enough a deep grey sky took form, rainy and weepy as it clung to the top of the canvas. Upon a cloud there sat the girl from his previous painting with small white dove wings extending from her back and to her sides were three crying girls, two were twins who looked just like her, and the third was a girl who was roughly the same age as the twins but looked very much like James. The children clung to the angel as they cried with her. Down far below a soldier in black laid in the darkness in a pool of crimson. Beside him in the same scrawling vermillion it was written Forgive Me.

The boy looked to the happy girl next to him and them to his painting, it was dismal and depressing, but realistic. Hers was happy and light, but realistic. The two were at opposite ends of the spectrum, but together they showed the full range of what the world was capable of - joy and sorrow.

Julia listened to James with half an ear as she carefully stroke the paintbrush over the canvas, to get even the smallest little detail perfect, which in this exact moment was the beak on a grouse.

"U-huh. Who's Elizabeth?" she asked him, seemingly disinterested (and sounding so too (even though she wasn't)), without even pausing or looking away from what she was doing.

"Well, she's this girl I see in my dreams every night, my guardian angel ironically enough." James sat his dry painting behind his undry one. "Your painting is pretty." He leaned over to her shoulder, his head was a bit close to her shoulder, though he did not really notice at all. As he expressed his love of the painting his breath would smell of cherries and apples, sweet and yet not overpowering.

"I see..." She tilted her head to study the motif from a different angle. "Thanks!" She wasn't sure on how to continue, so she took a step back to look at it and let the painting show her by itself what else was needed. Because it wasn't done yet, it still lacked the final touch.

But just like James, she hadn't noticed how close they were to each other, so when she backed it resulted in her hitting him in the head with her shoulder. "Hmm... I... Ow, whaat! Sorry! Did I hurt you?" She gave him an unsure smile, and felt embarassed.

"Sorry." James rubbed his head a little, "That was really my fault, I got infatuated with the painting and really should have noticed where I was standing." His cheeks burned a bright rose hue as he coughed, "I am fine though, you should have seen my helmet after a sniper -" James caught himself, "In paintball a sniper hit me with a large round, blew my little plastic helmet apart and splattered me in paint." He grinned, he hated lying. He knocked his fist against his head, "Lizzy says my head is hard as a rock. So dont worry about me. You okay though?"

"Yeah, I'm okay. I'm glad you are too..." Julia giggled in her typical girly manner. "I didn't know that my art was that enchanting, but I take it as a compliment as good as any other."

She rubbed her shoulder. It was a little sore after all, but nothing a little magic couldn't cure. Although it would probably heal by itself in no time.

"Paintball you say, eh? I've actually never tried it, even if I've always wanted to. I'm more of a hockey girl." She smiled again, but this time more confident than sweet. "I might look small, but I can be tough out on the ice."
