Me and a couple other rpers were collabing to create a viking rp set in 801 AD, or so, it would start with a raid of the English isles, then become akin to the Odyssey, with them being blown off course and possibly encountering mythical things.

Though it would not be my exact cup of tea, you could do a bunch of chinese city-states in the new world following even more Zheng He voyages culminating in new world ventures before the collapse of the Ming.

Zheng He voyages to the New World are pretty cliche and weren't possible for the time period.

I would give more credit. Granted neither of us are naval engineers, but the vessels of Zheng He's fleet did do pretty decently covering a rather vast swath of sea.

Oceanic gyres should also be taken into account, they are a big part of the reason we are oer here today.
