The ships are in the Mississippi River, with the enemy in heights behind Baton Rouge. Not much waves or currents there.

And, the enemy is charging in open fields in certain areas not far from my ships. Easy pickings.
That and my soldiers marking targets with smoke bombs so the ships can know where to aim.

Other then the Mississippi being a constantly flowing body of water, of course.

E: Also being that close, your ship could rather easily be severely damaged by American artillery. Not only can they bring in heavier guns then your ship has, they'll also be able (And already should) have earthworks around their guns, making them well defended. Being land based gives them better accuracy, and with a First rate ship of the line being a very big target. They could also use 'hot shot' which would be devastating against any ships you have.

That was rather dismissive. The American Imperium could literally just set your ships on fire via the use of heated cannon shot, and your ships have virtually no defense against it.

A giant wooden ship that is set ablaze in the middle of the river will have very little hope of surviving. Not to mention if the fire or a hot shot round itself sets off your magazine.

And dedicating a single battery of artillery to remove the threat of an anchored first rate warship would far outweigh the slight lack of that battery not being able to attack infantry formations.

And if they can manage to fire at infantry, they can manage to fire at a ship.

If you push past the American's own ground troops all the back to their artillery then you've more or less won.

And again, if his military has any sense at all, he has earthworks. Earthworks are damned good defenses, and I imagine your own land based artillery are also in earthworks, which leaves your ships utterly exposed to any artillery fire the Imperium decides to lob at them.

Again, she doesn't /need/ heavy guns. A single battery utilizing hot shot would be more then enough. Even if it doesn't destroy your ships, you captains and admiral would be idiotic to remain in range of enemy artillery who are using rounds that can and will set their ship on fire. And if your ships cannons can target her positions, her cannons can hit you right back.

And my guns have been pounding those ships hard with artillry. Carcass, chain-shot, regular round balls. Everything we can throw.

And the guns are all hidden behind eart-works. And their deeply dug in. Trenches ring the hills too. And the front trench is like that on Bunker Hill providing good cover. And Imperium troops are holding their trenches. They charged, but then they fall back into those trenches under good cover from the other two trenches and the canons.

Then Duchesses Heights is armed line 3 man o wars all pointed 1 way. The Valley of the Duchess is an upward slated valley. And the Imperium regulars are all dug in behind a brick-wall and trees and earth-works. Fort Charles is the Duke of Imperium Louisianas house-hold and also the strongest fort in Imperium Louisiana. Built of stone. A star-fort. With big guns. And its open to resupply on 2-3 sides. So ammo and food is coming in, along with reinforcments and wounded taken out. And on one-side an army has came down from its heights and is hittig them on their left along with cavalry on the right and a fort pounding them from the front. A smaller detachment on their rear

Stone walls are sucsceptible to big enough guns. And a charge of thousands of men.
And those regulars in the woods near the Alimini shore are getting a little heat shot themselves.

And I meant you're not getting supplies from the outside, especially with my other 5 frigates and sloops of war targeting your supply ships going upriver.

Ships are hitting the smaller hills near the river, not the monstrosities she's created, the Duchesses Hill.

Basic industry but nothing to large everywhere, only a few places have anything super heavy but I can build a second rate but it will take longer than normal. The name " pirate" holds more symbolic then anything else. Over the centuries, the most of their population came from merchant families, former slaves, and other people looking for good work outside of the nations. It developed more into a nation slowly, but the nations wouldn't recognize it as a "legitimize nation" but some would accept trade from it because of neutral circles and merchant families would give some leeway with pirate goods coming in.

However, the riches of the League come from the Spice Route that they have mostly in control of. Many nations can't say no to that and, with internal trading, some minor smuggling, and some lax trade laws, allows the rouge nation to be more able to globally trade with the most powerful nations not looking at them unless the pirates start being pirates again( hence why they are attacking the Byzantines).

The pirates of the League are highly selfish and individualistic but they know that the Wheel looks out for their citizens and also there are bigger problems that just one pirate lord can't handle. Besides, the beginning of the League did come from a " Privateer's Republic" under the most powerful pirate lords of the time and without the larger powers not giving a damn for the islands, the slaves and pirates found a home and other pirate lords started to think of other ideas to make money while still keeping their way. Centuries later, the nation was founded but the life of a pirate is more symbolic to their near anarchistic style of government and their culture, until now.

About 50% of the force is from the homeland. And I wouldn't try 'liberating'. They are practically their own government. I am sure invading us will just practically give me another colony. I'd recommend staying neutral

Natives and rebel militias attacked a fort in New Anatolia. There believed to be a rebel group that wished to form a empire based in Columbia, Venezuela, Peru, and the rest of the west coast. They had a small force, but ours was signifigantly smaller. Only armed with 105 cannons, 45,000 men, and only 10,000 guerilla militia present. Sadly, the over all natives and infantry men (estimates are 500,000). The fort held out for 4 hours. Sadly, the natives used incendiary arrows dripped in lit oil on the wooden defenses. When the walls fell, all the soldiers that surrendered were locked up in select housed while they inhaled deadly fumes. Only 450 survived the attack, with only 10 being part of the forts garrison. Private First Class Hondriak Honduraz, a native athenian, published a story of what happened. It reached national level within a few hours.

I might have read this wrong but it seems like your Colonial Government is struggling to deal with natives, guerrillas and rebels. Instead of dealing with their own problems this Colonial Government declares war against the American Imperium. Wouldn't that make some of the people there Pro-Hellenic for liberation?

Which will be dealt with after the war. The natives are treated fairly and life there is generally happy. I really don't want to fight you but you are probably going to try anyways.
