Xavier decided to lie down, next to Raphael, and he tried to go to sleep. He stared up at the stars in the sky until his eyes got heavy, and then he finally dozed off to sleep. Maybe tonight...things will go better? he hoped, as he fell asleep.

Xavier had made a bet, when we fought in Tartarus, to see who could punish one another the best. Kinda to topple Tartarus and make him self-destruct. Well, Tartarus was killed before he could respond, and something else took-up Xavier's offer. It attacked him in his dream, all over. Face, back, arms, chest...yeah. He's been kinda unsteady about it ever since," he described.

The gentle warmth that had been emitting from Jophiel became more broiling as Patriah told him what was happening. "In his dreams you say? Shadows....." He turned to the side mumbling to himself "A visit may be necessary..." He turned back to face Patriah and said "My brother seems to trust you. I shall be honest. I do not."

He shrugged. "He trusts me, so that must count for something," he responded.

Xavier walked around the darkness, warily. This time, he was free to move, but he wasn't sure where he was going. "Where am I?"he asked himself,"What is happening now?" He then remembered the shadow, and decided he would go looking for it, now. Maybe it would speak to him. His wings glowed red, and he tried to make sense of the darkness.

Suddenly, a large cloak of darkness came around him, rubbing itself around him like a long, ominous black cat. "Hello, again, Xavier. Welcome..."

"Who are you?" Xavier asked it, as it stood in front of him again.

"But that does not matter, does it? The only thing that matters is...who are you?"

The darkness fell more tightly around Xavier, like thick velvet. It started to become harder to breathe. "What do you want from me?"

"Not 'from' you. 'For' you," the shadow told him, showing his twelve long, spindly arms again.

Xavier drew his breath, as he braced himself for more torture.

"Relax yourself. That was only once...you are now weaker, I have no need to subdue you. Now you are afraid, you are interested, you are...curious. 'Who am I', 'What do I want'. Those things. I have slowly gotten to you, haven't I?"

"That's what I'm worrying about..."

The shadow laughed. "You worry so much, don't you?"

"Because I don't know what you're planning to do with me!" Xavier shot at the shadow.

The shadow paused. "...Now, why would you speak to me like that? You don't even know what I am..." He began to mold himself into a humanoid shape. The result was something like this:

Image

He wore all-black, and his hair and eyes were a dark-pink-much darker than his. The twelve arms had molded to become two wings. He seemed to smile gently at his captive, but that was exactly it...Xavier knew he was still captive. To this domineering, scheming, mysterious shadow.

Which looked exactly like a darker version of him.

Xavier backed away in shock, from the shadow. There's no way...there's just no way...

"You seem...afraid. Why? Can you not comprehend even a being that has shaped itself so you can process it?" He stepped toward him, puzzled, never speaking very much above a whisper, but nevertheless with the knowledge that he had Xavier right where he wanted him.

As he moved forward, the Angel stepped back, disturbed. "No, it's...You...Why are you me?!" he shouted back, angrily. However, as he heard the words leave his mouth, he stared, wide-eyed and horrified. 'Why are you me...' "Dear God in Heaven, have mercy on me..." He bowed his head and prayed, shuddering tremendously, at the possible revelation. The darkness inside...was himself?

The shadow-Xavier merely continued to smile. That strange knowing-yet-condescending smile. "You will understand, soon enough, Xavier...fret yourself no more," he answered. However, he was merely feigning kindness.

As he finished, the darkness around Xavier collapsed in on him, filling his lungs and every pore of his body. The pain...he couldn't stand it. As he became weaker and weaker, he fell to his knees, and then onto his face. He tried to reach-out to the shadow-Xavier, to aim some sort of weak attack at him. "I won't let you...you can't..."

He walked toward him and held his hand. Still smiling the same smile, he replied softly, "One more day...one more day, and all will be understood..." He then let go, and the Throne sank into the impossible darkness...

Xavier didn't toss and turn as much. Rather, he compensated by holding the first thing he could find, which happened to be Genbu. Genbu was rather concerned that Xavier, now, was holding him, but he allowed him to, nonetheless.

"...Why are you me..." Xavier whispered to himself, in his sleep.

Everyone had fallen asleep, later that night. Even Patriah had dozed-off, with baby Ryujin sleeping on top of Patriah, and with Raphael sleeping next to Hamiri. Hamiri woke-up rather early, however, and she turned to see Xavier clutching Genbu close to him, trying to sleep.

"Why are you me..." he muttered in his sleep.

"He had another nightmare..." she thought, anxiously. She turned and shook Raphael's shoulder. "Raphael...Raphael...hey...wake-up. Your brother had another nightmare...Raphael..." she urged repeatedly.

Meire is standing by an open window while staring at the moon. A light breeze blows through his hair, but he remains there, motionless.

(Outside)
Meire is standing off to the side of the group. He stares at the moon while he appears to be deep in thought. A light breeze blows throughout the area. Several leaves move in the wind. One of these leaves nears Meire's head and bursts into flames.

Delorian was sitting in a corner watching over the group, a soft purple glow coming from his chest rather than the usual blue. He saw two of them had awoken and it instantly turned back to normal. He raised his head and looked at the two who had woken up.

"What are you two still doing awake?'

While Xavier was in a cold sweat, he was breathing fine, now, and his heart rate had slowed down to normal. It had been about an hour since his dream.

While Xavier was in a cold sweat, he was breathing fine, now, and his heart rate had slowed down to normal. It had been about an hour since his dream.

Raphael nods slowly, and then sits on his knees. "Well... First plan isn't gonna work. He needs to be dreaming for that to work... But plan b... Hamiri? Patriah? Could you get ready to maybe fight something?"

She smiled.

"I have missed the sun."

Ryujin tosses down the Manju jewel, and they jet up from the cave floor to the edge of the hole in the mountain. He frowns.
"Hrm. Looks like it's night time anyways. I've got a summer hall if you ever wanna check that out though. It's always warm and sunny there. Great for naps." He looks over. "I suppose you don't like this particular time of the year though, autumn must be rough."

"It sounds like a nice place..."

She paused.

"Yes, autumn is difficult to say the least. Winter, though--that is the worst of all. I am so weak in winter, and yet it is then that I am at my most dangerous, rivaled only by summer..."

They looked at each other, worried, for a moment. However they turned back to Raphael, and nodded. "What's going to happen?" Hamiri asked, looking down at Xavier.

"Well, best scenario? Nothing, he just wakes up and tells us about his funny nightmare about Genbu and a piece of celery. Worst case? The incarnation of fear and pain appears above his body and we have to fight another Typhon level being..." Raphael explains to them, pulling out a glass and some incense to enhance the prayer.

Xavier smelled the incense, and as he did, he sniffed. His eyes came open slightly, and he rubbed his nose. "Hey...what's going on...Raph?" he mumbled, staring up at his brother.

Patriah grinned ironically. "Rats, I had a good idea to change his dream, too..." he grumbled.

Raphael mutters something about old fashioned medical anaesthesia, and then smiles at Xavier. "Oh, nothing buddy. Just morning prayers... Oh hey, look over there!" he exclaims with a point.

He was wise to that trick. "Raphael, what's going on..." He sat up, cross-legged, and put a palm over his face, as the dream came back to him. The danger is real, now...

The frying pan Raphael was about to whack Xavier with somehow disappears. As in, it suddenly appears in Hamiri's hands. "Well, you were having a bad dream. I was just about to pray for a good one for you!" he says with a smile.
