If you read up on current events, it's been seeking nuclear weapons from Russia since the Iran Deal has been put in place (I mean legalized, technically not put in place yet...), since it fears Iran will be able to strike it with long-range conventional missiles that it could *technically* grab hold of, and that Russia also sees little problem in providing.
