This is Head Senator of Harndar. Might as well start at the beginning. You see, before Harndar ever got classified as a United Planetary Republic, A mushroom was found out that it gave real life luck. Affects seemed to be correct, so Harndarians were planting the mushrooms everywhere, in their houses, their streets, heck, anywhere you can go, they could be there. Around this time, cases of people going on an all out rampage, killing many innocent people, were rising. The only way if someone turned is by their red pupils. Scientists call it The Mad Man Syndrome and many believed that it had to come from a virus since The Mad Man Syndrome cases just seemed to come out of the blue. Many years of research were put into studying it. Scientists were able to find out the The mushrooms that believed to carry good luck, were the ones that transported the virus by their spores. Extermination crews were called in to kill all the mushroom until they entirely went extinct, but the damage was done.

John had no expression on his face, but his thoughts jumped to the danger this could present. "Is this 'mad man syndrome' contagious?"

"Well, it's a bit complicated. After forcing the extinction of The mushrooms, people started to go mad. No cure means more people going insane. The people that turn are mostly the real threat to you and your people. They have the possibility of exhaling spores to the an uninfected host, turning them in a matter of hours. Gather enough in a planet, they would turn it into a wasteland of Mad Mans. The infected, but have a dormant kind of the virus won't do much, they'll live the rest of their lives as normal.

John was in shock when he heard this. Every one of the Harndarians had this disease. He could have been infected when he was there, and who knows what would've happened if he had been infected. He tried to speak, but barely found the words.

"As previously stated, no. The virus keeps on evolving into a different form, very quickly to say the least. That's how the spore carriers were made out of the Harndarians. I think the virus evolves faster in a Mad Man than in a Harndarian however. You can try calming them down, but only 1 out of 10 doctors would recommend it."

A flash of light would herald the coming of the Generation. It dropped out of hyperspace on the edge of an uncharted system. It had taken 15 years for the primitive hyperdrive technology on the Generation to reach this area of space, and the crew was glad they found an area with planets capable of supporting life. "Scan the area. I want to be sure we are safe." Captain Lethox said, his small 1 foot frame, sitting coiled on the bridge.

Aboard the flagship of the Outer System Fleet, a sensor analyst picked up an unknown vessel that had just entered the system.

"Admiral, an unidentified ship has entered the System, it's signature doesn't match anything we have on record. It seems to be an antiquated vessel." The Sensor Analyst turned back towards the console, the ship had begun to do something.

"It also appears to be scanning our planets." The Admiral sat back in his chair.

"Order the fleet to begin converging on the ship. Jam their signals until we know why they're here." Soon, 600 Ships began to move in on the Alien ship. As they neared the ship, Signal jammers were put to work, ceasing their scans. The Admiral sent a message to the UFO, translated into hundreds of languages .

"You have entered Tagali Federation Space. Cease your scanning and power down any weapons you may have. Marines will be sent aboard your vessel to secure your ship for a diplomatic envoy. Cooperation is mandatory."

Eris stared at the pills for several seconds as the implications sank through her mind. This could...could let the Taari have a home! They could finally survive on a planet! Well, not this exact pill, but later, refined versions of it, anyway...wait, so why had one of the pills been for...Khronos? Her brow furrowed for a moment, before the answer squirmed into her brain and she flushed and glanced thankfully at Cornelia. She heard Khronos' question and turned to him, tears welling in her own eyes.

"I-I knew they were working on this, but I never...never thought they had anything even this effective." She stuttered, before she hugged Armillius and Cornelia tightly, Cornelia disappearing under Eris' embrace for a few moments.

"Yes, well." Armillius said briskly after Eris released him, "It's my job to keep secrets as well as reveal them-after all, telling you would have ruined the surprise." His lips twitched into a smile at that, "And don't worry. We've got you a flashier present for tomorrow. Cornelia just thought thammpphh!"

The rest of his sentence was cut short by Cornelia reaching and putting a hand over his mouth before dragging him off a distance to quietly scold him. That left Eris with Khronos, Euphemia, Catherine and Odysseus. A frozen silence descended on the group until Euphemia took it upon herself to break it.

"So, what's Eris like out here?" She inquired "Back on Spindle she's always so...reserved but here she seems positively chatty! How did you drag her out of her shell?"

The Imperator's Might
Capital Dreadnought of All Remnant Fleets
The Taari Armada / Remnant

Khronos watched these events unfold, having to suppress a chuckle or some other form of joyous expression more than once. Eris' family was as he predicted; friendly. Although, it might be that they're trying to evaluate him. So, when Euphemia asked her question, Khronos pretended to look thoughtful for a moment, before chuckling as he spoke the answer.

"Very carefully.", he stated, chuckling audibly. Khronos hugged Eris, briefly, as he looked over at her family. They were going to be his in-laws tomorrow. Wait... they were going to be his in-laws tomorrow. How could he have forgotten that? Still, though. Khronos decided it was better to tell them now rather than later. He stopped his chuckling as he came to the realization.

"I just realized. You have almost as much to prepare for as Eris does... for, as my future in-laws... due to Taari customs, you must select one member of your family to act as a Consul. There are always three Consuls; one a sibling or family member of the Imperator, or Imperatrix... one a sibling or family member of the Imperator or Imperatrix's spouse... and one a neutral Consul from one of the Admiralty's family. My, my, how did this slip my mind until now? Still. It means one of you gets to stay here, along with Eris.", he spoke. When he finished, he offered his trademarked smile. He thought this might also please them; it meant Eris would have someone she trusted and knew here, in case something was amiss.

"This is Captain Lethox, of the Generation. we mean no harm. we are refugees from a system several thousand light years from here. we are only looking for a new home. we meant no disrespect. if you wish to come aboard, you will have to remain in the hanger bay, as our species is rather small, and unless you are a foot tall, Im afraid you wont fit aboard our ship." Lethox said.

Eris’ eyes widened as Khronos explained the Consul to her and they flitted to Euphemia’s face, over which was a much better mask that barely showed the joy underneath. Still, Eris knew her sister too well to be fooled. She was ecstatic. Eris’ eyes darted over towards Armillius, who was suddenly looking very old. He sighed deeply as he felt the expectant eyes on him.

“Fine.” He said mock-wearily, a twinkle in his eye, “Just promise that you’ll visit a tired, old man every so often.”

“Thank you!” Eris squealed, hugging Armillius for a moment before feeling an impact on her back as Euphemia joined the hug. She smiled for a moment before extricating herself from the tangle of limbs. As she did so, her eyes locked with Catherine and Eris resisted the urge to smirk at the look of shock that had swallowed her face. Suddenly, both of her daughters outranked her and she knew would find no favor with them. She'd come here hoping to get the ear of the Imperator and would leave knowing that wasn't happening for a long time.

"It's settled then." Eris grinned, "Euphemia will be my Consul. We'll have to set her up in here permanently, you realise?"

"I know." Armillius said, "We can get her personal affairs here quickly, and she's not due a check-up for a couple of weeks, so that part will be fine."

He added in a low voice to Khronos, "Thank you for that."

Beryl stood back and admired the fruits of her labour. The cryo pod had been fully integrated into the Ophian, with a not inconsiderable amount of blood, sweat, toil and tears, and only two minutes behind the deadline. Beryl smiled behind her faceplate. She'd personally been expecting it to take much longer than that, but she definitely wasn't going to complain that her prediction had been wrong.

"This is section bravo-joker-two. We're done here and heading to the shuttle to return." She said into the comm, "ETA three minutes."

"Acknowledged." The voice returned through her earpiece, "Good work in there. We can push the exit schedule ahead thanks to you lot."

Beryl felt the swell of pride in her core as she headed back to the shuttle to get out of this nightmare job and just take a nice, long, well-deserved bath.

Khronos simply smiled at his fiance, in response. Khronos took Eris into his arms, and kissed her. He kissed her with all the passion and love he could muster. He was so very happy. Khronos ended the kiss only when he needed to breathe, smiling at his fiance widely. He loved her so. Khronos turned to Eris' family, bowing his head in respect. He then spoke to them all.

"I thank you... now, despite our teeth, we don't bite. I think it's time we enjoy this party, no? Go ahead and mingle with some of the Admirals or their families. I'm not sure if Eris told you or not, but my former Admiral, Lyson, was quite rude and xenophobic against her. I think demoting him to civilian status was perhaps the best decision I've made in my life. Second only to asking Eris to marry me, of course.", he said in a very calm manner. He emphasized the 'former' when speaking of Lyson to show that he was very serious in his care for Eris. Still, though; now that he thought about it, where had Lyson gone? He didn't hear confirmation he left or arrived anywhere. What was that xenophobic man up to?

Meanwhile, Lyson entered the Ballroom. He decided to "mingle" with the xenos and others present. Lyson decided to know his enemy, so he knew who he was going to destroy the next day in favor of his people. Lyson noticed the Imperator and his fiance, and steered clear. He couldn't have that traitor and his xeno ruining his plot. He'd kill those xenos; all of them. His people needed to be protected. He needed to protect them if the Imperator would not. Lyson unwittingly moved passed Eris' sightline, but kept walking as he began to mingle. He still wore his Admiral's armor, but it had its admiral-stripes removed. But the armor was easily recognizable...

Eris winced slightly at the memory of the Admiral. Not just his xenophobia, but the way he'd spasmed and jerked when Khronos had breached his suit...she shuddered at the thought of it. Well, that was what the pills were for, to prevent that in the future. But before that, of course...she shuddered for a very different reason and held onto Khronos a little tighter as they left the family grouping, making their way through to the drinks table with an undeniable, fluid, grace.

"I think that went well." She murmured into Khronos' ear, "I'd say Armillius liked you."

Armillius waited until the Imperator was gone before his gaze flitted to Cornelia, his eyes filled with unspoken concerns and a dark worry. She nodded silently and he let himself sink down into a chair, the hint of a smile ghosting across his features.

"You're sure?" He asked.

"Positive." Cornelia smiled warmly, "He's genuine, and she is as well. He won't let any harm come to her. Actually, that's what I'm worried about. I know she's-"

Armillius cut her off with a single finger on her lips.

"Just be happy for their love, dear." He said softly, "And enjoy the rest of the party with me. We can worry about politics later."

Cornelia smiled, tears welling in the corners as she opened her mouth to reply before closing it and simply embracing Armillius.

Euphemia was lost. Horribly, horribly lost. She had been trying to reach the Food Court, but instead she had been caught up in the flow of people and jostled over to the edge of the Ballroom, without a single landmark in sight over the sea of heads: suited, shielded and bare. She picked up the pace, squirming through the people until-

The Taari came out of nowhere, suddenly looming into her vision as he pushed through a couple and Euphemia ran head-first into him, knocking them both to the floor and clearing a space around them as she did. As she struck the cold, hard floor, her vision flashed white and she felt the pain lance through her body. Damn these ballgowns! They looked pretty, but keeping one's balance in high-heels and with what felt like tonnes of lace and ruffles around one's ankles was an absolute nightmare! She slowly began to pull herself into a semi-keeling position, her legs out to the side and her arms supporting her weight as she checked the condition of the Taari.

Khronos hugged his to-be wife, smiling as he poured them drinks. He handed one to her and kept one for himself. He sighed a bit, staring at his love. Eris looked so beautiful. She was since the day he met her. Still, though... He wondered what he did to deserve her. Nonetheless, these doubts were gone as he held her. It felt good to be with her - to be near her. To touch her.

"I love you, Eris...", he whispered into her ear. He smiled as he kissed her cheek, holding her close, sipping his drink. He looked around the party. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Everything was good. Khronos really hoped he'd get a report that Lyson was gone and back in a civilian ship after the party was over, though. He didn't want to deal with that xenophobic bastard. And then...

"You GODS BE DAMNED XENO! How dare you?! You disgusting filth!", roared a voice, disturbing the party... again. His helmet was off, a shield around his face. Lyson. The party seemed to stop, staring at Lyson and Euphemia, who were now both in clear view. Lyson was snarling loud enough to be an animal, grabbing Euphemia and pulling her up by her hair in a way that looked painful. Lyson's voice roared off again.

"You xenos think you can just waltz in here and take my people from me? Take us out when we're endangered? You think you own us?! YOU THINK YOU CAN TRICK THE IMPERATOR WITH YOUR SEDUCTION? YOU ARE WEAK. PUNY. XENOS! I WILL THROW YOU OUT THE AIRLOCK!", he roared into Euphemia's face, his teeth bared like wild fangs preparing to eat her face off. And then suddenly, he wasn't holding Euphemia.

"ENOUGH!", roared the Imperator. Suddenly, Khronos wasn't near Eris. Within a few seconds, Khronos had pinned Lyson to the wall, lifting him up. Khronos slammed Lyson into the ground, and punched him in the face - since Lyson was using his 'shield mode', no helmet broke this time. Instead, there was a loud crack, and Lyson's teeth, some of them, fell out... it also looked like his jaw was slightly dislocated for the people close enough to see it. Khronos tossed him away furiously.

"Guards! See to it Lyson- no, I dare not say your name. It disgusts me. Take this xenophobe away. It seems demotion to civilian status was not enough. Put him in an eject pod. When the wedding is over and we leave this system, Lyson will be left on this planet. Alone. He is, as of this moment, exiled.", Khronos spoke in such an absolute tone it was terrifying. It was audible. Imperial Guards grabbed Lyson and dragged him from the room; there wasn't much blood, but other guards came to clean it up. Khronos retreated back to Eris, hugging her.

"I'm so sorry you had to see that... again...", he whispered to her. He held her to calm himself down, to make sure she was still there and nothing was wrong. Khronos wondered what her family would think of him due to this outburst. Of what they'd think of his people. Nonetheless, Khronos decided that he made his point that xenophobia would not be accepted. Not anymore...

CNED Resurgence
Hyperspace

Captain Yryln was thinking about his decision to head towards the current system. Based on the origin ship's information, it would make more sense to head towards this "Sol" system since that they actually had some information about it's inhabitants and some degree of what to expect. But, there was a some information indicting a small chance of a alien presence in another system in the region and Yryln decided to see if there was a chance of a alien civilization in this system before heading to the Sol system.

Sir we are going to enter the system in five minutes , said one of the navigators.

Yryln stood up from his chair. Okay, navigators based on the information in the database. I want us to not engaged the cloak when we enter but, have weapons and shields ready. Comm specialists, you to scan for any traces of alien communications and tell me as soon as you find one. And if we don't we find any alien comms, then we will start to scan the planets to see if there was a alien civilization in this system. And if there are no traces then we will make a report of our findings sent them back to command and continue to the "Sol" system.

Yes sir, the bridge crew relied.

Sir, we are going to enter the system the system in three, two, one.

The Resurgence exits hyperspace and appears near the outermost planet.
