"No worries. Bring whoever you'd like. Now I mud be off. There is going to be a lot of fallout from tonight's events and I'd rather take it on with a night's rest. I'll see you tomorrow." With that, Lahira gave Lethox a small farewell bow and left for her shuttle.

Euphemia felt as if she were feeling everything through a thick blanket, even as Lyson enfolded her. She simply stood there, frozen for several seconds before tentatively reaching around him and holding onto him tightly. He was there. He was there and holding her and that was all that mattered for now. She could deal with everything else later, she just had to sort out her and Lyson first. She had to. He spoke again, his words forming in her mind several seconds after being heard by her ears, and it was a stab of pain into the cold void around her heart. She'd used him, and neither of them could ever forget that. It would haunt her until the day she died.

"Thank you." She whispered silently, oblivious to his internal turmoil, "Thank you, Lyson. Please...please don't go back to the way you were. Please. I'd rather die than see you like that again."

At the thought of Lyson, her Lyson, regressing back to the animal that had attacked her at the ball, she began to cry openly. Her body quivered and each gasping breath she made was difficult, as if her body was trying to drown itself in penance. All she could do was cling onto Lyson and hope he would understand. Hope we would remain himself.

By the time the Highbreed reached the Starbase. It was already destroyed and the lone Ostian vessel with its allies escaped the system to the Fuerein System.

The Inquisition battlecruiser and its ally arrived in the system. A quick scanner sweep revealed a large presence of ships in the system, some ships were of ridiculous proportions and not of Ostian design. There were over a hundred starships in the system.

"It's been a tactical nightmare, do you know how many times we've changed security codes in the past few hours after we got word? If you weren't inquisition and whatever that is, you would've been destroyed." The fleet liaison spoke to the Provost Frystein.

"We are obviously not infected by the Highbreed. And contain information vital for the military," Provost Frystein replied and closed channel. "Thank you for helping us. It appears we have more friends to aid us in our shared plight." Frystein spoke to CNED Enduring Legacy over a secure communications line.

Captain Y'era looked at his tablet. "It appears there are survivors from the Displeoa system. One is an inquisition battlecruiser and another of unknown origin. But they are both registered as friendlies and headed to the starbase."

"They seem like a potential race we can get along with but, most of their race are answering a call to arms, they call it the "Blood Hunt" against an parasitic lifeform that can take over the dead and is called the Hivebreed".

"Onan's face changes to show horror. "You...said the Hivebreed are.. you are in section..." "I need to tell the commander about his now." He leaves the holo and after two minutes Zuia appears on the holo.

"Captain Solia, how much do you learn about the how well the Maug-Lai are fighting the Hivebreed and is it only the Maug-Lai?

Solia spoke with a worried tone, not much that the only Maug-Lai representative said it was going well and it is only the Maug-Lai and do we have something on the Hivebreed?

Zuia speaks in a serious tone. "Solia, Captian Dyr Von of the Enduring Legacy has encountered the Hivebreed while making first contact with a alien civ". "And what he reported back about the Hivebreed tells us the it is a threat to the galaxy and I spending all the information that Dyr send to us about the Hivebreed to you". "You are ordered to offer a military alliance to the Federation and give them the information about the Hivebreed. "In the unlike case that they are blind to the Hivebreed, then offer the aid to the Maug-Lai and we are preparing a battle group to assist". "And tell the Maug-Lai that if they have not, to blockage that system and to glass the planet that the Hivebreed appeared on". Zuia closes the link after all the information about the Hivebreed, the events of Displeoa System and possible countermeasures against them is sent to the Spirit of Voi.

Solia looks at the information on her wristguard, "By the Gods" and she activates the comm function on her wristguard. "Gia, sent this message to the Federation. "I need a meeting with Consul Lahira and representative Sindra of the Maug-Lai now"."I have received word from my government that the Hivebreed has been encountered by my people in another system and the Hivebreed are a grave threat to the galaxy". "I'm ordered to offer a military alliance to you against the Hivebreed and to give all available information we have on them to you". "Also, tell the Maug-Lai that encountered the Hivebreed if they have not already to glass the planet before it can make ships out of biomass and quarantine the system before it can escape". "A battegroup is being prepared and will be sent to aid you against the Hivebreed".

The message is sent and the ship waits in orbit above the planet.

Lyson simply held her. It was all he could do. He pushed all of that vile voice and its emotions which came with it to the back of his mind. All that mattered was them, being together. Lyson wouldn't let this ruin that. Lyson kissed her forehead silently, trying to make her pain go away. He refused to let her feel pain. Lyson parted slightly from the hug, still grasping her. Lyson stared her in the eyes, conveying through his emotions the conflict he felt. The love, the need to be with her shone brightly. But deep within, she could see that the Beast was awakening once again. The Beast which did nothing but hate, and harm all it touched.

"I'll try... but... you need to help me. I don't want to go back to that.", he said calmly. His voice was filled with all the emotions he felt. The Beast within Lyson's eyes almost snarled with his compliance to her, and he shuddered visibly as if he felt that snarl. Lyson continued to hug her, wanting nothing but to be with her and her alone. Forever. But the Beast had other plans. She will destroy you, Victus Lyson., the Beast rumbled within his mind. Lyson did his best to ignore it.

Jakala
New Talveria Federal District
Ministry of Diplomatic Affairs Building

It had been a long night for the two Message Analysts still working in the building. Due to the events that took place during the banquet, the whole Federal District was put in lock down, but the threat had since been dealt with and everyone except a skeleton crew had gone home. It looked like it would be a quiet night, or it would be until they received a message.

"Hmm? Looks like we're getting a message from the xenos in the system." The second Analyst took a drink from his cup of Salzi, a Tagali drink similar to coffee.

"Which ones? The bug people or the snake ones?" The first Analyst read the message.

"From the Vryr'yks Coalition. Yeah, the bug people. They say they have information on the Highbreed and they want to arrange a military alliance with the Federation. They say they need to speak with Consul Lahira immediately."

"The High Breed? Those things that the news was reporting on a few days ago?"

"Yep, I think the reason Salungi left was to go back to his tribe to join, what was it called? A "Leko-sa?"

"I don't know. I just know that until we get a replacement, we have to cover his paper work." Suddenly the message disappeared from the monitor. As the two desk workers tried to fix it, a small red Tagali/Taani like hologram appeared over the mini projector.

"Greetings, I am Federal Intelligence Society Artificial Intelligence Construct Ardi, although if you breath a word of my existence to anyone, you will be charged with treason with the fullest extent of the law. May I remind you, a crime that carries the dealth penalty. Now that we've gotten all of the legal stuff out of the way, let me continue. The FIS will be taking over matters relating to the Vryr'yks Coalition and the Highbreed from here. Please remember what I've discussed here.

Ardi soon disappeared and left the two Analysts stunned by what they just saw.

FIS Owned Skycar

Sagan Al-Camana sat in the back of the skycar, holding a hologram projector in his hand. Ardi soon appeared.

"Report." Sagan said.

"Yes, Lord of Intelligence. It seems that the threat of the High Breed is as grave as we thought. When we intercepted the message, I thought it would just be information about a similar problem they faced. After further examining the contents of the message, it seems that we're dealing with the lesser infestation. Take a look." Ardi pulled up a video of alien soldiers fighting an off screen enemy. Suddenly, a creature pounced on one of the soldiers. Sagan recognized it. After countless hours viewing footage from the helmet cams of Temir and Kiiva from their time on Kalchata. They were High Breed.

"They go on about how the High Breed are able to infest our own soldiers. That much we've already known. However, they bring up another point." Ardi continued the video. A Xeno fleet was being destroyed by flying abominations. Some of the Xeno ships were even firing on their own.

"The High Breed was able to launch their own ships made out of biological material. They also tell of a more horrifying tactic of the High Breed. They report that after some sort of psionic attack, some of the Xeno crew members turned mad and turned on their comrades, even aiding the High Breed. They have two ways they can turn our own troops against us." Sagan began sweating with fear. He had been in a number of conflicts and had looked death in the eye multiple times. From the Civil War, to various anti-piracy operations, to the Maug-Lai Wars, but the High Breed made all of those look like child's play.

"Ardi, tell the Vryr'yks that they'll get their meeting immediately. I'll call for an emergency meeting."

Lahira had just entered her home when she received an Emergency alert. She checked her data pad to see that Sagan, the Lord of Intelligence, had called a Emergency Council Meeting.

"This day refuses to die." Lahira mumbled to herself as she returned to her Skycar to head to the meeting place.

The Fleet of Yarakai -

The Fleet of Yarakai was the premier exploration fleet of the Rah’Vin Federation, and was comprised of the greatest, and latest ships. It is made up of a total of over 126 fully operational ships manned and operated by the best naval officers recruited from the Rah’Vin military forces. The fleet is led, as a whole, by the RFS Sovereignty, and has 6 total squadrons made up of 21 ships each that are operational in the most important areas of space; these ships that lead the squadrons are the RFS Sovereignty, the RFS Defiance, the RFS Ascendancy, the RFS Marksman, the RFS Deliverance, and the RFS Solaris. Each squadron, while not normally traveling in a solid group, can notably be seen within a distance of each other that allows for one ship to travel to another when absolutely necessary. The fleet, as a whole, normally has one to two squadrons per sector, but may separate from each other at any one time and spread farther out than that if absolutely necessary. Don’t be confused, but even though each squadron has its own specialties they are also capable of operating in other areas, and have a squadron that is a healthy balance of ships that have to do with the specialties and those that don’t; however, they still have their downsides, and, as usual, some will be more capable in certain areas than others.

The RFS Sovereignty is an absolutely massive battleship-carrier hybrid that was engineered with a balance of warfare, exploration, tactical command, and actions of science in mind so that it could easily lead the fleet. It is the conglomeration of over 3 decades of research into one of the most advanced vessels in the Galaxy, which has given it certain advantages over other ships. It is capable of splitting itself into around 7 different vessels that are each about the size of your standard missile destroyer at 300 meters long each; with the RFS Sovereignty itself being around 1,600 meters long and has the separate areas doubled up on each other around the larger, central vessel that is at 700 meters long. The RFS Sovereignty’s construction has allowed for it to have a decentralized design, and though still managing to be aesthetically pleasing this means that damaging, or even destroying, one of the ships won’t necessarily impact how the RFS Sovereignty performs. The RFS Sovereignty is host to over 600 different fighters, and carries 4 frigates on top of the 7 different vessels that it is comprised of; it sports ballistic, liquid metal weaponry, a large array of turrets, and much versatility in its weapons systems. It is often referred to as “The Capitol Ship”. (please note that all capital ships possess the capacity to glass a planet, even if energy weapons aren’t what they are primarily equipped with)

The RFS Defiance, and the RFS Marksman, are two ships of the same class that are outfitted with mostly missile-related weaponry, and are smaller, more maneuverable ships compared to the other flagships of the Yarakai Fleet. The Defiance, and Marksman, are missile destroyer/carrier hybrids that have a fleet devoted to operating quickly, and smoothly, without the use of larger vessels in combat. They, and their squadron, are noted to be one of those that are less equipped with exploratory and scientific equipment, and are more devoted to tactical operations. However, they are still capable of pursuing the basic scientific operations of the Rah’Vin fleet, and it is not uncommon for a ship in the Defiance or Marksman squadrons to be retrofitted for a specific mission, nor is it uncommon for other ships to be given the same benefits. As with most Rah’Vin ships, the Defiance and Marksman operate with the standard equipment of the Rah’Vin military, but are noted to have some experimental or testbed weaponry, and it is also notable that some of the ships in the squadron are experimental ships themselves.

The RFS Deliverance, and the squadron of 21 ships assigned to it, are balanced, but have a larger amount of equipment devoted to harvesting, and storing, natural materials, transferring materials into usable forms, and sustaining themselves. It also sports a larger cargo hold than the majority of other ships, and as such is used for premier operations that require an armed presence; it is also often accompanied by ships outside of the Yarakai Fleet that operate in divisions other than military ones, and can be considered to have a squadron that totals to a total of a little over 300 armed and, mostly, unarmed ships devoted to a variety of industrial and trade-related causes. Unlike the Solaris and Ascendancy, and their squadron, however, the Deliverance is noted to have equipment and weaponry that is very much standard. It has slightly less weaponry than carriers of the same class, and also sports the highest amount of sentients among any of the other ships. The Deliverance has a success rate that eclipses that of one of the galaxy’s major mining leagues, despite that not being the only focus, and has been at the front of discovery for the past decade or so. The Deliverance is currently the least up-to-date ship of the Fleet of Yarakai, but it still has delivered constantly at high rates during its tenure leading the Deliverance Squadron.

The RFS Solaris, and the RFS Ascendancy, are two carrier vessels of the same class that are known for their capacity to draw off the power of sunlight, and even harvest entire stars, and use that absorbed energy for prolonged periods without having to go into contact with a star for several years if enough energy is built up. They sport some of the most advanced starlight harvesting technologies in the fleet, and are built for extended operations away from other fuels. The ships are self-sustaining vessels that possess the capacity to manipulate starlight to perform a variety of actions instead of using the technologies specific to that, and therefore allowing the vessels’ constructions to host more than the usual Rah’Vin ship, and perform actions such as cloaking, and more. The ships possess powerful energy-based weaponry unlike the rest of the ships Rah’Vin ships, and host a squadron of ships with similar technologies that are capable of docking and forming a moving habitat that merges its collective energies & weaponries for when colonization efforts are under way. The focus of the Solaris, and Ascendancy, ships is based around long-ranged operations in deep space, far away from the normal territory of the Rah’Vin.

Location Unknown - Center for Tactical Command; RFS Sovereignty, RFS Solaris, RFS Ascendancy -

The Rah’Vin had the center for their operations fleet operating in an unknown location, and three out of six different ships were currently functioning with their fleets active. The Center for Tactical Command was a mobile, heavily armed space station capable of faster-than-light travel, surrounded by an equally mobile complex of other space faring constructs, and regularly protected by ships. It was a mobile habitat created using technology that would later be refined, specialized, and reforged into the Solaris and Ascendancy ships, though it was not capable of arranging into a single super complex like those ships and their squadrons. The Center for Tactical Command, also known as the CTC, was comprised of over 12 different space faring constructs, and has over 400 ships active in it at any one time, with numbers often eclipsing that during times of stress or war. It was capable of docking with over 3,000 different ships at any one time, and when surrounding a planet could mount colonization efforts in a single day.

The Center for Tactical Command was a machine, and, though no where near the size of the array of space faring constructs around a planet, was absolutely massive in scale, functionality, and capacity, that was often visited by other Rah’Vin ships at any one given time. That’s why it had been chosen as the base of operations for the Sovereignty, its squadron, and the RFS Solaris and RFS Ascendancy, and their squadrons. The Center for Tactical Command housed the Sovereign and a wide variety of other tactical command gear, with the combined processing power, and the amount of functioning tacticians, capable of leading the vast majority of the Rah’Vin fleet. That’s why the Sovereign was there; it was there to command, communicate with, and keep track of its own squadron, merge its computing processing power with the CTC to command operations around the galaxy and in Rah’Vin territory, and to keep safe in its own little home should it need to depart. It was the perfect situation for the Sovereign to help in maintaining strategic command over its own forces in relative safety, while still being able to host its own squadron.

The Solaris, and Ascendancy, had just recently had their construction completed in the dry docks that the Center for Tactical Command sported as one of its 12, highly functional facilities. They were preparing to set out to explore the space past the Rah’Vin system, and engage in efforts to bring new territories and planets into the Federation. The Solaris was going to be operated by the RFPS, which was unknown to the vast majority of the Rah’Vin, and would be charged with exterminating the suns of races that, in the future, could pose a threat to the Rah’Vin. Unknown to the public the Starbringer class of ships were capable of functioning as Weapons of Mass Destruction by harvesting, and therefore destroying, entire suns. Hopefully all would go well as the Ascendancy reached deep space, and the Solaris began efforts of enforcing Rah’Vin rule.

First Contact with the UTT - Sol Sector; RFS Defiance -

The jump into the so-called Sol Sector had been a highly successful operation, as far as jumping into unexplored territories went, and the first thing that the Defiance noticed was that the Sol Sector was heavily occupied. A communications message was sent out to the rest of the squadron.

”This is Captain Vi’var, and I have a message for all Defiance squadron ships. Stay in groups of three, and carefully navigate. Maintain diplomatic protocols with all encountered ships. It is not known is these people are friendly, or not.”

The Rah’Vin had been operating in the galaxy for quite some time, but had never engaged in any operations with the Sol Sector or anyone who resided within it. It wasn’t until recently that the Rah’Vin had realized that they had overlooked a seriously massive player in the Galaxy that was known as the United Tribal Territories. As such, the Defiance had been sent on a purely diplomatic nation, and thus a jump was initiated that immediately brought the squadron into the Sol Sector.

Furein System; RFS Marksman -

The beauty that was the sleek, jet black and ivory white Marksman had just arrived within the Furein system after getting word that there were massive amounts of operations going on within the system. Arriving directly after it through the near-instantaneous jump-based FTL system that the Rah’Vin used were 21 other ships, each arranged in strategic groups of 3. The Marksman itself led a squadron that included a battlecarrier, one of three of the large ships in the Squadron, and two other destroyers.

A message was sent out to the ships in the area:

”This is the RFS Marksman of the Rah’Vin Federation. Identify yourselves immediately, and please explain the situation. So far, we’ve only heard that massive military operations were being undertaken, and would like if it was further explained. So, please, who’s fighting… what?”

The Rukat Mining Operation; RFS Deliverance -

The Rukat Sector was an area of space rich in natural resources that had not been claimed, nor explored, by any nation that had the power to actually gain a grip in the sector. A fleet of 2,000+ was traveling with the Deliverance, and this included 160 different colony ships that would begins setting themselves up across 40 different systems. Terraforming, if absolutely necessary, would start almost immediately upon arrival so that the Deliverance, and its squadron, could continue operations under the flag of the Rah’Vin Empire.

The Deliverance was already operating on a mining field of asteroids rich in several minerals that, upon looking closer, had not yet been uncovered, and had the capacity to greatly enhance the capacities of drones, and droids, across the board. Due to the fact that the state had gotten here first, and laid claim to the 40 different systems, it meant that foreign corporations wouldn’t have the capacity to do much, if anything, about their lack of action. Of course, the Rukat Sector was newly discovered, and perhaps other nations had just not discovered it for themselves.

It was believed that the minerals in just this one asteroid field could increase the strength, flexibility, and durability of all droids, and drones, while also giving the capacity to greatly improve the computer chips and droid brains all across the Rah’Vin Federation. This would mean lead to an acceleration of processing speed, and intelligence, by double the original amount, which could lead to a drastic improvement in battle operations by the droids with sentience. Reflexes would be improved, tactical skills could be imprinted in greater number, and martial combat would be under the belt of the Rha’Vin.

The Deliverance and the 2,000 ships all across the Rukat Sector were consolidating themselves to the 40 systems that they were currently setting about colonizing. Further colonization would allow the Rukat Sector to truly be harnessed, and hopefully, in time, infrastructure development could turn Rha’Vin territory there into a forge for ships, war efforts, and new technologies. A lot of construction was going on, and within a few years the Rukat Sector could be thriving as territory was split into different regions, and sold off in a greater amount.

Jakala,
New Talveria Council Meeting Chambers

Members of the Tagali Federation Council had arrived at the Meeting Chambers. Lahira looked up into the sky to see a unfamiliar dropship landing on the Landing pad.

"Who are they?" She asked.

"The Vryr'yks. They're the ones that called this meeting." Sagan said, walking behind her.

"They called this, why?"

"To discuss the High Breed. Go on inside. I'll wait for them to land." As the rest of the Councilors went inside, Sagan waited. He watched as the dropship touched down on the landing pad, letting off its passengers.

The Valhalla is knocked off course and hits the Silverblood.

The Blue Ferrum Ray hits the bridge, which melts and recrystallizes, forming a useless mass.

Lady Daenerys escapes barely, but every crewman aboard dies as a chain reaction ensues, turning the Silverblood into a chunk of metal.

Daenerys, The Thane of Argenteus, escapes to Achernar.
---

Darius shouted for order on the bridge of the Hyperion.

The Cadian Lord closed his eyes and sighed. "Begin Maneuver Epsilon Judex. Send a message to the fleet: Hyperion falls, but Caridin rises. Evacuate the ship when ready."

The bridge crew nodded solemnly, and got to work.

The Hyperion was set on a collision course with the Valhalla, and its Red Ferrum core was set to overload.

The ship was in the process of evacuation, while the message was sent.

"Hyperion falls, but Caridin rises!"

Fuerein System

Admiral Baum was looking at the tactical map as more ships arrived in the system. More xeno vessels. "Admiral", one of the communications officers reported, "incoming transmission."

"Put it through", ordered Admiral Baum.

”This is the RFS Marksman of the Rah’Vin Federation. Identify yourselves immediately, and please explain the situation. So far, we’ve only heard that massive military operations were being undertaken, and would like if it was further explained. So, please, who’s fighting… what?”

They're asking us to identify ourselves in our own territory? "Officer put this message through to them."

A message was relayed back to the unknown fleet. "You are trespassing in territory belonging to the Ostian Imperium. Any attempt to power weapons or any action that can be considered hostile will be responded to with lethal force. Regarding the events transpiring here is out of your clearance level and I am not obligated to respond to you."

Provost Frystein relayed a message back to Captain Dry. "Head to the fleet's starbase. Your security codes are embedded within this message. My ship will return to our own people. Good luck." The inquisition battlecruiser rotated and warped out of the system.

----------------------------------------
Ostian Imperium

To say security was tight was an understatement. For all the affected star systems near Displeoa, many security measures were taken place. Any ship entering the system must pass five security check. If a ship failed just one security check, it was to be destroyed immediately. The first one was a simple registration number in the Ostian registry. All Ostian vessels are registered in the Imperial registry. The second check was security codes which allowed movement between systems, the system of origin is contacted regarding the ship and the codes are checked. The third check was if the ship was registered on the military registry, civilian ships are given 2-3 hour codes and must ping their location at all times. For military vessels the ship is checked for its name, battle-group, system of origin, construction, and etc. which can be found in the Imperial Ostian Navy database. The fourth check was to see if the the ship was scheduled to arrive in the system. The fifth and final check was a simple scan, ships approved for movement have a specialized tracking device installed in it. This device gives off a certain signal and if this signal is not exact, it fails the test.

All these were standard security checks for a state of war scenario in Ostia. And these were used for the Highbreed incursion. Should any ship fail one of these tests, enter the system in a certain direction or pass the perimeter line, it will be considered hostile.

----------------------------------------
Ostia System - Nilreb - Imperial Academy

It was a quiet afternoon in the gilded halls of the Imperial Academy. The Imperial Academy was the most prestigious educational institution in the Imperium. It was the school for all the powerful, upper class and important figures in Ostian society. On a afternoon like this, the halls were usually louder as students came out of their classes and lunch hour had begun. However this afternoon had been very quiet. Since the Highbreed Proclamation, many students left the academy and volunteered for the Ostian Armed Forces. Even a few of the staff left in the middle of class to volunteer for the Armed Forces. Kastella was alone, walking down the empty hallways thinking about the message her father spoke just now. "This is the first major conflict in thirty five years since the last one." Kastella spoke nervously to herself. She had been walking for five minutes looking for any of her friends, but with no luck. She felt alone. "Xvere, you'd probably volunteer as well wouldn't you?" She spoke to a nonexistent person. A few months after the Hardarian incident, Xvere was contained and isolated in the Imperial Medical School, put under for an indefinite number of time. His father was devastated by the news and secluded himself in his work.

She stopped when S'lithis, her schlange retainer appeared from around the corner. "Your gracesssss." S'lithis spoke and bowed her serpentine head.

"S'lithis." Kastella responded politely.

"Your father requestssss that you are to return to the homeworld," S'lithis spoke. "A shuttle is outside. You will be taught by a privatte insstructor for now on."

"Alright, S'lithis. Lead on." Kastella responded reluctantly. Xvere, I wish you were here.

Euphemia stared silently into Lyson’s eyes, a sickening fear creeping into her mind. His eyes seemed torn between kissing her and tearing her apart, as if…as if he were becoming that thing again. She wouldn’t let that happen. She couldn’t let that happen. She couldn’t lose him, not so soon after she had won him from himself. She leaned in again and kissed him, wishing her tongue could scour away all of the hurt and the pain and the betrayal he felt. She stayed in the kiss until her lungs were burning before reluctantly withdrawing.

“I’m going to help you, Lyson, and not lie to you, or use you again. Now and evermore. I swear it on my life.” Her eyes gazed steadily up into his, willing him to see her sincerity. Willing the animal in him to lie down and die for attempting to corrupt Lyson, her Lyson.

The lift doors hissed open and Ophius strode out into the corridor, taking the short walk to the second-most heavily armoured portion of the ship. As she stepped onto the CIC of the Subtle Knife she glanced around, her instincts pricking at her to say that something was wrong.

“Ophius!” A teenaged girl with startlingly blue hair called out, eyes cold and calculating, “I was wondering when you’d show up.”

“Echidna.” Ophius smiled politely, “I’m glad you’re here. You’ve got a lot of work to do.”

Echidna always unnerved Ophius. She had taken her prolong treatment at the age of sixteen and now was over one hundred, with the body of a teenaged girl. It was one of the most uncanny things Ophius could recall, but damn it if she wasn’t one of the best engineers Ophius had ever worked with.

“Already?” Echidna rolled her eyes, “I’ve just gotten here!”

Oh yes, and she acted like a five-year old as well. There was probably some irony to be found there, but Ophius had never cared for it. Or Echidna’s clothes, today a pair of skintight jeans and a t-shirt with ‘love’ written on it. She knew she should be wearing more formal attire, yet she had an almost pathological desire to prove she wasn’t ancient by any pre-prolong standard. Ophius simply sent her the recordings from Displosea and watched as her face paled and her lips twitched, probably from repressing the urge to vomit.

“We need something that stands us a good chance against those things, whatever the hell they are.” Ophius said simply, “And I need it before we go up against them, which is two months as an absolute limit. That gives you one month tops to figure out whatever it is you’re going to figure out before Erebus starts production. Do you understand what’s at stake here?”

“Oh, God…” Echidna murmured, “If those things...if those things reach Spindle with their mind-twisting…”

“I know.” Ophius said solemnly, “Anyone with a higher interlink potential rating than seventy is probably going to turn. That includes us, Echidna. We’ll need more than just weapons to win this war. We need an interlink prohibitor and we need it now.”

“I can’t do that!” Echidna burst out, “What do you think I’ve been trying for the past forty years?”

“Yes, but now you have the full backing of the Duchess of Umbara. And that means you’re getting the best team possible to work on this, not the second-rate one you’ve had until now. So are you willing to do this?”

“Do I have a choice?” Echidna retorted.

“Of course you do.” Ophius smiled cruelly, “If you don’t make it, you’ll become a slave to those things. But you have the choice, yes.”

Echidna glowered at Ophius before storming out of the CIC, her fists balled. Ophius rolled her eyes before turning to the report she would have to make to Armillius. Still, the thought of Echidna remained in her head, a nagging worry about the woman. Would she be able to deliver in a month? Or would it be too much for her? Her mind was still the mind of a teenager, so there were no guarantees of success for their endeavour. That scared her the most, if she was truthful with herself. She was placing her hopes of freedom on what was biologically a sixteen year-old girl. A shiver ran across her spine as she tried to lose herself in her work.
Disclaimer: Nothing said here is the product of a rational mind.

"The Rah'Vin Federation was only here to assist should a military operation be undertaken. We have heard word of a species known as the "Highbreed", but we have very little statistical information on the species. The Rah'Vin need allies in the galactic world, and we need allies that do more than trade with us. Is there any way we can be of assistance in a way more that economically at this moment?"
The Rah'Vin Federation people were blunt, but highly intelligent in their operations. They were often misunderstood due to the way they acted, but this was only due to the fact that species within the Federation had brains that could be identified, by humans, as being very similar to a person with Asperger's. They thought differently, and thus this was important to know when interacting with them.

The Rah'Vin had trade operations with nearly every species in the Galaxy, and the owners of the Furein system weren't an exception to this rule. The Furein system had resources that the Rah'Vin Federation planets nearby lacked in, and thus this is how trade between the two species had began. In fact, it was possible that drones or droids that had been manufactured by the Rah'Vin were operating in the near by asteroid field.

Lyson's body felt like it was set aflame at the kiss, and he embraced it. Wanted it. When she parted, Lyson felt almost empty... he didn't like that. The Beast within him was gone, for now. But Lyson still felt hurt. He loved her, though, and he would forgive her. He wasn't going to let this get between them. Lyson hugged her tightly after the kiss, in a very loving, passionate way. To show her that he trusted her, that he was forgiving her. Lyson's conflict was solved, for now, but he was fragile. He knew it, and he knew she knew that as well.

"I love you, Euphemia.", he calmly whispered. His voice was sincere, gone of pain, but it showed his fragility. Lyson was on a very dangerous edge... the edge between who he was now, and the Beast which wanted her gone. That edge was a very potent tipping point... Lyson sincerely hoped she wouldn't do it again, but the Beast even in slumber whispered into the back of his mind doubts and fears. Lyson was able to ignore them, consciously. Lyson kissed Euphemia again... holding her closely. Hopefully, he wouldn't break. He didn't want to.

"Captain Solia we have received a message from the Federation, it appears they know how bad the Hivebreed threat is as the message is from their Intelligence Agency and we are to report to the meeting now or they will force us to attend".

"Good and that is unnecessary since we call for this meeting but, it shows they take the Hivebreed threat seriously". "Me and Osan will meet them and tell command that the alliance is official and tell me when the fleet has launched". Solia and Osan along with a squad of marines leave in a dropship and arrive at the coordinates with the all the information they have on the Hivebreed on a secure datapad.

Jakala,
New Talveria Council Meeting Chambers

Members of the Tagali Federation Council had arrived at the Meeting Chambers. Lahira looked up into the sky to see a unfamiliar dropship landing on the Landing pad.

"Who are they?" She asked.

"The Vryr'yks. They're the ones that called this meeting." Sagan said, walking behind her.

"They called this, why?"

"To discuss the High Breed. Go on inside. I'll wait for them to land." As the rest of the Councilors went inside, Sagan waited. He watched as the dropship touched down on the landing pad, letting off its passengers.

Solia, Osan and the marines left the dropship and Solia walks up to Sagan. "It's good you understand the threat posed by the Hivebreed and I have to to bring my guards in with me"."I was stretching protocol as it is, when I attended the banquet and they were left outside and after the incident"."They have to come with me but, they should not be a problem and if that is okay". "Then led us to the meeting and we will tell you all we know about the Hivebreed".

"Captain, an another alien fleet has arrived and we have intercepted the messages they sent to the Ostians and are running it through the Universal Translator".

"Dyr looked at the new fleet on the view screen. "Another alien fleet, Mmmmmmm". "It seems that this system is getting popular and that may be a bad thing".

"Sir, we have translated the messages and it appears that the Rah'Vin Federation is investigating the military activity in this system". "And I don't think that the Ostians have met them since the Rah'Vin don't seem to know who the Ostians are or that they in they space". "They also have heard about the Hivebreed but, I thought that only well, us and the Ostians know about them". "Maybe they intercepted the warning meant for the whole civ and are looking for allies and may help with the Hivebreed". Fari said wondering how the Rah'Vin found out and sent a fleet so quickly.

"They heard about the Hivebreed, sent a fleet to the system where the Ostians are regrouping and where another alien fleet is". "But, they don't know that their are in Ostian territory or who the Ostians are? Dyr said in a confused tone. Dyr sighs to himself and stood in a irritated stance. "Take the ship near the starbase and I with Master Tor will enter by dropship". "Send a message to command that the Ostians are not alone in the war against the Highbreed but, a new civ called the Rah'Vin Federation has arrived and I find them suspicious". "They seem to want to help with the Hivebreed but, they don't even know who the Ostians are and the message meant for the Ostian Imperium was only sent couple of hours ago". "I will meet with the Ostians officials now and report more after my meeting with them".

Dyr, Tor and a squad of marines leave in a dropship and land in one of the starbase's hangar bays.
