Fuerein System - Fuerein Fleet Starbase

"I'd, I'd.... I'd rather stay aboard my own ship for the time being." Admiral Baum replied. "How can you amass large materials without mining for them? The idea seems ludicrous."

Just than one of the hanger bay doors opened, and an imposing tall figure walked out. It was obvious he wasn't human. This figure walked behind the Admiral, it was holding a data slate. "Admiral Baum, I would like to report that the sensor network has been deployed."

"This is Captain Y'era San'Jilo, my first officer and captain of my flagship."

"So be it, follow me. You'll meet the unit commanders, immediately." Ulyanov led Kale down a few dim-lit corridors. On the way, Ulyanov stopped when he saw a man ahead wearing a black visor cap and leather coat. This man was talking to another officer, and when he saw Ulyanov he saluted. "This is Commissar of Defense Anton Kozlov, he is in charge of all our military assets and forces. He is part of the special committee as well."

Kozlov looked up and down at Kale and chuckled. "Ulyanov, this can't be right. Surely I think that impressive military commanders would look the part. Not some cute little out of place creature."

(What species is Kale?)

Fuerein System - Fuerein Fleet Starbase

"Ahh, that's the point." Commander Richard replies. "Bring out the AT-100 Dark Matter Manipulator!"
Some soldiers go into the shuttle and take out a small box, which suddenly assembles itself into what looks like a large-scale 3d printer.
"Now this is the AT-100, it turns dark matter, which is basically everywhere, and turns it into either raw material or whatever you want really. Basically you turn nothing into something. This one here is designed for smaller items."
Suddenly a mini-singularity cannon energizes inside, and the soldiers drag it out.
"We don't have many of these devices, because only Arcturus 3 can build them, and while they look primitive, the technology involved in the construction process is very advanced, no one else had these where we came from. You said our production was ludicrous without resources. It turns out we don't have many resources anymore. These machines can only make so much."

Meanwhile, Captain Petrov greets Captain Y'era San'Jilo.

Spindle wrote:Euphemia’s eyes widened in surprise at Lyson’s words, widening further as he came and kissed her. For several seconds she sat there, rigid with surprise before she began to return the kiss, her hands slipping across to Lyson’s cheeks. For that moment, nothing else mattered any more. They drew apart from each other slowly, breathing heavily and Euphemia smiled for a moment before a thought crossed her mind, her smile rapidly turning into a frown.

“Lyson, if you’re doing this out of pity…” She trailed off, unsure of what to say. Even if he was, did she really want him to stop?

Lyson stared at her after she spoke, kissing her again in response, putting every last bit of his emotions into it. He poured his heart and soul unto her very being via the kiss, passionate and sincere. It spoke of infinite love, undying loyalty, and nothing but want. It spoke the truth; the hard truth. It spoke in a way Lyson would never be able to communicate his love. He parted the kiss, smiling at her. He tilted his head as he spoke.

"I'm not doing this out of pity. I'm doing it because I've fallen in mad love with you, Euphemia.", he stated firmly, with conviction and absolution. It confirmed what he had said and done but a few moments earlier, and again shortly after she spoke. Lyson kept his hold on her, staring her in the eyes, waiting for her to respond. His mind told him to prepare for rejection, but his heart told him that she would respond in kind.

"We're getting reports on the initial brunt. Their 'boarding pods' if that is what the call them, seems to be more for infecting than boarding. I am getting a few reports but security should be able to handle it considering the sealed-armor order." Replied the Chief Security Officer over internal communications.

"Thank you, Colonel, we have to stall as much as possible." Admiral Specht spoke calmly.

"Admiral Specht, the Royal Guard squadron was able to escape the encirclement. Hold on. Admiral, a few of the bioships as well as two traitor frigates are leaving the column and are heading to the Starbase." The sensors operator reported.

"Can we contact it?"

"Negative, last barrage severely damaged the communications array. We can only manage to communicate with the nearby vessels but no more." Replied the communications officer immediately, as he frantically tapped on his console.

"Reroute all remaining power to the weapons, also prepare to wipe all the database should our destruction be imminent. Any high ranking officer here is to burn himself or herself should the ship be compromised. We cannot let the highbreed gain any more information."

The boarding pods that hit Tyrant Orava's ship exploded simultaneously. Eight large explosives covered the organic hull of bioship.

"Captain! The blasts have taken down the shield generators on the bioship! They won't have any shields anymore!" Reported one of the bridge crew of the Undying Light.

"Than in the Emperor's name, fire everything, maximum power to weapons!" The Undying Light fired a full broadside with its weapons at full power at the unique bioship. While this barrage occurred, the shields of the Undying Light were significantly weaker.

Displeoa System - Displeoa Fleet Starbase - 60 Hours to 61 Hours After Awakening

"This is the Royal Guard Sigma Squad, we are returning to the starbase. Do not fire upon-"

"Lieutneant, the highbreed is breaking off a few ships! They're headed to the starbase."

"Damnit, there isn't much we can do, just keep moving to the starbase and meet up with the remaining personal. Hopefully it is alot more peaceful."

"Allied vessels, whatever is behind us is not friendly. Any highbreed must be delayed in exiting this system."

.......

They kept coming.

Even though half a dozen of them would fall, more would rush forward. They didn't even care about their losses, they were fixated on the defenders themselves. A few of the Ostians threw down their firearms and drew swords, closing on the traitors who came too close to the barricade.

.....

"Should we intervene?"

"No, just keep watching. It was his last orders."

"What about the other ships closing in?"

"We shall wait to for the perfect opportunity. Are our troops aboard?"

"Of course, they stand by on your order."

Disploea System
Xarintine / Lepota / Orbit
61 Hours After Awakening

Tyrant Orava growled as his shields went down. That wasn't good. Tyrant Orava morphed his body, becoming one with the Bioship. He ejected himself within the form of a Biofighter back to Xarintine, and with the chaos going on he doubted the fools would notice. He had to preserve himself. Orava used a surrogate to control the Bioship, while he fled to retrieve a new command ship worthy of him on Xarintine. The Bioship and its Biofighters continued fighting and attacking, trying their best to keep fire on them rather than on the Seedships. The Seedships were on a path right for the starbase - and its docking stations, where Cultists could easily board them and assist them.

Orava frowned slightly within his Biofighter. The battle would be won, it was a guarantee. The Bioship might end up lost at the end of it; but the new fleet in development was nearing completion on all assimilated worlds. Thus, it would give way to a huge fleet that could begin the massive offensive post-battle. But Orava frowned not because of this, but because of the fact that these Ostians seemed convinced they could win, or at least stop him and the Highbreed. What a foolish notion. Then again, they knew not of the age of the Highbreed; nor its power and might. They would soon become acquainted well with the latter. Orava decided to grin. Yes, very soon.

Euphemia broke into a smile again at Lyson's reply and her breath caught in her chest as she leaned in and kissed Lyson. This time she poured her all into it, pressing up against him as she did so. They broke away again and her face was radiant once more, beaming up at Lyson. Her insides seemed to be swirling in a maelstrom of emotion, but she knew that whatever it was she was feeling, it was what Lyson was feeling. Did that mean she was in love as well?

"You know," She smiled, "I wouldn't be surprised to find out I've fallen in love with you to, Lyson." Her arms were now wrapped around his waist, pulling them nose-to-nose and eye-to-eye wit each other. She closed her eyes and went in for another kiss, a gentler kiss. Tender, almost. Instead of the desperation that had filled her the first time, or the hunger that had encompassed her the last time, this time she simply felt peace. As if this was simply how everything was meant to be.

Ophius considered Joseph's offer for a moment. Frankly, it was much, much more than she had been expecting...but it wouldn't be workable, unless she put far too much trust in the Ostians. For that to work without sacrificing the firepower of the wall, the Spindlean units would need to be integrated into the Ostian wall of battle...and that would mean trusting their point defences to hold their weight. Gambling Spindlean lives on Ostian point defence...she sighed softly, pinching the bridge of her nose before coming to her decision.

"That could be done more efficiently." She commented, a hand rearranging the units in the holo. Now the Gorgons were interspersed with the back line of Destroyers, the Wyrms were anchoring the thrusts and the escort squadrons were filling out the gaps between the Frigates and Destroyers. The Basilisks held the front line with the Frigates.

"If the Gorgons integrate with the Destroyers, we can use them as a combined artillery unit and if we offload computing power from the Gorgons, we can bring the Destroyers' targeting abilities up, extend their range. When the enemy hits kinetic range, the escort squadrons can break off from the wall and threaten their rear units. And if we offload pods from the Basilisks during the enemy's approach...when they hit the light-second mark we can fire all of the dumped missile pods at once. At that range, with that many missiles, we can massacre their smaller units and leave the larger ones to the Destroyers."

She glanced up at Joseph. She hated the plan. If the enemy managed to start slipping missiles past the Ostian's point defences, she was going to take far too many losses. Still, she'd get a nice, close look at Ostian technology in battle. The thought did little to stop the anxiety rolling around in her gut.

Lyson was overwhelmed with joy when she revealed her emotions, and responded in kind to him. Lyson was thrilled that she loved him, too. It made things less awkward, and secondly it meant he could make her happy. Lyson loved her smile, and didn't want to see it disappear. Not if he could help it. Lyson made a mental note to do everything in his power to make her life the happiest one it could be. Which reminded him of something. Lyson decided that since her people had gifted his with the ability to walk among them without dying, he would return the favor in a form.

"You know, the Taari have technology that could allow you to be able to have children... but... only if you wanted to.", he whispered to her, holding her close as he kissed her again. Lyson couldn't get enough of her. In fact, were it not for his training as an Admiral and as military in general, he'd probably have given in to his desires by now. Instead, he decided that they needed to take their time. To make sure they both wanted this. But Lyson felt that she probably did. Lyson wondered if what he told her would make her happy.

"Mmm, a workable battle plan. I can move the more agile battlesuit models to the 'wall', so that they can intercept any incoming fighters or rabble. I'll redeploy the last Tehys into the wall for added defense. He pressed a few more buttons on his tablet and and showed two more battlesuits. A description appeared near each of them. But I firmly believe the Tehys can handle most of the work."

EI- 23a Tehys Heavy Support Battlesuit
The Tehys Heavy Support Battlesuit was designed for overwhelming firepower in mind. Its two Gatling weapons firing a torrent of rounds at targets, tearing them into pieces. An unique feature of the Battlesuit was the ability for 270 degree fire arc, while it is very hard for a normal pilot to handle such conditions, with proper training and an ai, it becomes easier but still hard. It is about the same speed of a Coeus. While the official designation is the Tehys, the unofficial name is the Angel of Death.

EI- 20 Prometheus High Speed Close Quarters Battlesuit
The Prometheus is the current high-tech mass produced Battlesuit of the Ostian Military. This battlesuit was made to be effective at close distances rather than medium ranged-combat. The Prometheus is faster than most fighters in the arsenal of other species the Ostians have encountered so far. Prometheus battlesuits are assigned to more elite pilots.

"So, if since all introductions are done, lets get to the meeting." Petrov finishes. "You can bring your soldiers if you like."
With that, everyone in the area suddenly teleports to the a private conference area; very clean and decently formal.
"Have a seat Lord Decius. Drinks will be provided."
A formally dressed soldier brings in 10 glasses of Arcturus Vodka.
"Now, to begin everything, I will simply state our basic requests for any trade deals. Arcturus is in need of food, as protein bars won't satisfy the populace. Another major issue is that our world was an important production center. The 15km ships you saw arriving here happen to be the UASWR's(Nation Arcturus if from) standard Victory-Class Battleship. We could produce those dozens a month. But now there is no point in producing more, and we lack the materials trade ships used to bring in. This is crippling the economy. I'd now like to see if we could work out an agreement: If you give us your designs, we can build ships for the Eridan Imperium for very cheap prices and maximum quality. Of course your going to have to give us the required materials. We can also introduce some of our own advanced technologies, like the Black Hole Cannon, or Chrono-weapons. All we ask for exchange is a large food supply, and a mutual pact of friendship. In total, we gain foodstuffs and our economy doesn't collapse completely, and you get plenty of large ships and new technologies, especially weapons. Seems decently fair in my opinion."
Petrov Stops and waits for a response.

Euphemia stiffened as Lyson spoke, her mind suddenly blanking. She opened and closed her mouth several times before simply going in for another kiss. She couldn't speak, and what good would it do? There was nothing she could say in this situation. There was only doing to convey her thanks. Her mind raced at the possibilities open to her now. Children. Family. And of course, she'd have have to marry Lyson before 'discovering' it, or else she knew she'd be tied down into another marriage before she had the chance to even propose. But that was for the future, not now.

Ophius bit her lip lightly as she considered the proposal. If she was honest with herself, she would rather the battlesuits were used for fringe interdiction, but since Spindle had never built anything smaller than a Frigate that was manned she was well inclined to trust Joseph on this matter. Still, that brought up another interesting point in her mind. She zoomed the holo out onto a full-system overview of Sol, the shield visible around the inner core.

"I'll bow to your experience in the matter." She assented, "But now we've got the next level to think about. Concentrating our forces like that is great if we're in their system but if we're here, or Ostia, we've got a problem. Let's say we're sat on a Lagrange point here. The Florans jump in around here, similar to last time, so far so good. But they've got three possible attack vectors to get at the various pieces of orbital infrastructure and that's assuming the stay together. We need some method of forcing them into battle and keeping them well engaged. And I don't think I know how." Her eyes flickered upwards filled with doubt. She wasn't a trained admiral. She'd picked a fair amount up from being around so many people who had been, but she still needed Scorpius for this job.

Lyson was surprised somewhat by her reaction, for only a moment. And then, he returned the kiss with just as much passion as she gave him. Lyson knew it was official: he was madly in love with Euphemia. Lyson decided here and now that he would make sure to make her his wife, some time in the future. Hopefully soon. Lyson was somewhat nervous in the background, but that was being shoved away by the overwhelming joy he felt with her. Lyson was going to make her happy. It was his only option. If he failed her, he'd fail himself. Lyson didn't want to fail her. Ever.

"I love you.", he muffled inbetween the kiss, as he continued it. Lyson kept holding her tightly and closely, not wanting to end the kiss or let go. But, alas, he knew he had to soon. He had work to do, despite only being civilian-classed. And he knew she had work to do as well. But for now, Lyson was enjoying the moment. Enjoying this. He wondered how Eris would react to their... relationship. Lyson stopped that train of thought because he knew it'd end in laughter.

Euphemia wouldn't have cared if she had been struck mute right now, because she knew it would take her some time to get her voice back anyway. God, she hadn't realised how much she needed something like this-unconditional affection, simple and pure. Her hands clenched possessively at Lyson's back. He was her's and she mentally dared the world to try and take him from her. It would never happen. She knew this. The gates of Hell itself could open and Lyson would still be her's when the dust settled.

"Thank you." She whispered as soon as her voice allowed it, "Thank you so much. You don't know how much that means to me."

Lyson held Euphemia, staring into her eyes. Content with just holding her. He kissed her lips every so often, just admiring her by staring into her eyes with his own. Lyson loved her. He didn't mind being hers, as long as she was his. Lyson laid on the bed with her, holding her close and simply staring her in the eyes, kissing her a few more times. He wished it could always be like this. Just her, him and this room. The room they bonded in, the room she changed him in, the room she made him fall in love with her in. Lyson would be happy if that were the case. He spoke to her after she finished talking.

"Euphemia. Promise me we'll always be together.", he murmured to her. Lyson was subconsciously afraid. Afraid something, or someone, would try to take her away. Would snatch her away from him and he'd never see her again. Lyson didn't want that. He wanted to be with her forever, and he didn't want her gone. That was the last thing he wanted, if at all. Lyson never wanted to leave her side, if he could help it.

Displeoa System - Heading Towards Lepota - Between Vryi and Lepota - 61 Hours After Awakening

"This is Admiral Specht of the Displeoa fleet to all nearby vessels. Today, is the day we die for the Imperium. Each of you, has gained much honor for your families and households. The Matyrs of Displeoa will not be forgotten." A few minutes after this speech was made, the Morbid Angel suffered a self-inflicted power core breach which destroyed it entirely. The Undying Light continued firing at the unique bioship, as the other bioships began concentrating fire on it. The Relentless Avenger and the Sacred Light continued holding their positions. Prince Xavier stood silently in his command throne, debating how to aid he all-father.

-------------------------------------------------
Displeoa System - Displeoa Fleet Starbase - 61 Hours After Awakening

"The message has been sent, we are to destroy the starbase immediately and any other sensitive information. All loyalist forces, prepare to hold borders." The intercom spoke.

At this point in the skirmish, about five Ostians were left in the barricade. All around them were the bodies of traitors. But the howling still continued, as there were more traitors left. One of the defenders grunted, "Dammit, it seems like all the people we've fought so far were the non-experienced soldiers. I didn't recognize one as part of the standard crew."

"Forward, this life may be painful. But the all-father promises salvation!" One of the morass of voices said.

Three of the Ostians looked around them, looking for a firearm which was working or still had ammunition in it. "I think there were 750 personal left in the station, and we know for sure there are 75 soldiers were are still sane."

The fourth wave of traitors surged forward, but as they did, bright green bolts came out of nowhere. The traitors who were hit fell to the floor immediately and one even turned into a pile of green slug all of a sudden. From the upper level of the power core room, came eleven black armored figures grappling down and firing their rifles.

"By the Emperor, its the Black Guard." One of the Ostians muttered.

These black armored figures came down onto the floor and began firing rapidly bolts into the traitors. At the sight of the armored figures, a few of the traitors ran away. Some even fell on their knees and begged for mercy, only to be killed by a bolt to the head. One of the armored figures, had a red color right pauldron, and he walked over to the battered defenders. "Justicar Sigmund Voss of the Lucifer Conclave, 3rd infantry section." The Justicar spoke coldly.

As the Squad Sigma arrived at the Starbase, a large black object decloaked next to the starbase. The sleek black Eligos Class Battlecruiser began a barrage at the seedships, the closet seedships disappeared in the bursts of green plasma.

"This is Provost Alec Frystein of Ostian Inquisition, Lucifer Conclave. We are here to ensure that the starbase destruction is confirmed. After destruction any allied ship is to rally to Fuerein System."

The battlecruiser began deploying its battlesuit teams, 10 battlesuits surged forward intercepting any seedship which survived the barrage.

The technological prowess of these foreigners is almost God-like, Admiral Baum thought as she inspected the device. With such power, they could easily beat us in any engagement. She looked again at the foreigner's gear and weapons, then back at the device. Could all of this come from just that?

"Admiral Baum, I also would like to report that additional vessels have arrived. This brings our current ship count at over 100 vessels." Captain Y'era reported, giving the Admiral a data tablet.

"Mmm? Ah yes, the additional forces", Admiral Baum spoke immediately. She looked again at the foreigners. "As you can see the situation here is very serious, if you truly want to help us. Then please follow me to the command center."

Sol System - Orbit Around Mars - Battle Group Sol - I.O.S. Relentless Zeal, Crown Prince Joseph Marx's Flagship - Audience Chamber - 2115 Earth Hours

"Perhaps we are taking this the wrong way." Joseph spoke up. "What do we know of the current enemy? What are his tactics? What are his abilities? If we can asses what are his strengths, then we can effectively respond to them." After he spoke this, a few more crew members walked in carrying any dish. They took away the bowels of soup and replaced them with a dish containing some sort of large green stalk ontop of a bed of white specks. "Schlange Root, a bit bitter but it is more a pallet cleanser than anything else." However Joseph wasn't given the dish instead there was a sealed pot placed infront of him, the crew member lifted it up and a strange creature was slithering around. It had purple scales, six claws and viscous teeth. It barked and hissed at the other patrons, and Joseph merely grabbed it by head and snapped its neck. The creature immediately fell silent, and Joseph picked up his utensils and began eating its soft underbelly. "Ostian Viper, traditional Ostian appetizer, tastes better when freshly killed. It starts to become poisonous after 15 minutes so please, continue."

Fuerein System - Fuerein Fleet Starbase

"Well admiral, lead the way." Captain Johnson answers. "I've already contacted home-space for additional reinforcements. We can expect one Star Dreadnought, which by the way, is much larger than my battleship."
Meanwhile, Commander Richards talks to some younger Ostian officers.
"From what I know about Union History, the largest ever recorded Space Battle involved nearly 250,000 ships. It was set during our 50 year civil war, where imperialists attempted to overtake the people's government. The loyalists were outnumbered 4:1, but ultimately, their superior leaders and determination led to victory. The rebels were crushed, but not without nearly 85% loyalist casualties."

Back at the hangar, the group of soldiers hand over the singularity cannon to the Ostians as a "token of friendship". They also leave a few hard-light weapons and a single anti-matter missile pod launcher (large mecha sized), which assembles itself.

"Captain, Admiral Specht's ship has been destroyed and it appears from a self-detonation and it also appears the..... for some reason, two ships are holding their positions"."Those ships have to be traitors if their are doing that and".

"Captain, a ship has decloak next to the station and has opened fire on the bioships"."And has destroyed one bioship already".

"Then fire and we will see how the bioships fare under our combined assaults and sent this message to that ship".

The Legacy fires its weapons on the next bioship, it takes serious damage from the Ention cannon shot and plasma cannons light up the bioship.

The message is sent to Provost Alec Frystein, "This is Captain Dyr Von of the Vryr'yks Coalition and send us the coordinates for that system"."For we have just arrived in this region of space and don't know were that system is and have a fleet on their way to help with the Hivebreed." "And if you don't trust us, then trust our honor to avenge Admiral Specht and those like him"."For I swore to Admiral Specht that his sacrifice and others, would not go answered and my people keep our word."

Displeoa Fleet Starbase

Captain Vos stood along the remaining Ostians defenders in his armored suit and his sword bloodied, motions at the two drones to disengage their self-destruct protocols and the drones obeyed. Vos gets on his radio, "Captain Dyr, the power core is secured and the broadcast has been sent and all remaining Sentinels assist in the destruction of the station"."Vos gets off his radio and talks to the Justicar. "Captain Hektor Vos of the Sentinels, 1st squad and we are going to help you end this Hivebreed threat, even if you refuse us".

Fuerein System - Fuerein Fleet Starbase

After a brief walk and lift trip, the two arrive in the heart of the starbase. In the Command center, many Ostian officers and personal were pacing back and forth or were working in their stations. Many screens were everywhere, detailing fleet movements and communications between vessels. Admiral Baum walked over to her own command console and tapped a few things on the screen. Immediately images appeared depicting organic ships, strange creatures, unknown biomass and much more. "This is the enemy we face." The Admiral spoke solemnly. "They call themselves, the Highbreed, about 61 hours ago, they surfaced in the Displeoa System, a frontier system close to this one. Within 48 hours, they overran two planets and were terraforming it into something unpleasant. From their observed behavior, this parasite is highly inteligent and gains information via assimilation. As you can see on these images taken during the latest engagement with them, they were able to assimilate our own vessels and use our own technology against us. Also there is another factor which is unexplainable. Somehow, all soldiers reported hearing a certain voice coming from the highbreed. They all heard the same message, is was as if they were assaulted mentally. Additionally another unexplainable event, a few of our own soldiers turned against us fighting for the Highbreed, calling it the, 'All-Father'. As you can see, the Ostian Imperium is facing a dangerous foe at this moment. Never before have we encountered a foe like this one. It is, the perfect hunter."

Captain Y'era stayed below with Commander Richards. "My people are one of the two to be accepted into the Ostian fold willingly. The Kreigschen, my people, and the Schlange are the only aliens to be able to stand equal with the Ostianss. It is probably because all of us share a similar warrior culture, which is how the Ostians are able to sympathize with us more. Other aliens however usually become second-class citizens, but there is a chance for their own advancement. But that chance is only through military and there have been very few alien commanders in the Ostian military. Almost all of them are sent to support service, and fewer are actual soldiers."

Euphemia lay with Lyson, clutching him tightly to her as if he would vanish into thin air if she ever let go. He felt warm. Firm. It was a good feeling, knowing that she was holding onto the man she loved. She began to relax slightly with his warmth spreading through her and her hands started to roam, although always holding him tight and never letting him stray too far from her. She smiled at his question. He was hers and she was his. Always. She would show him that.

"Lyson, the gates of Heaven and Hell could open and you would still be mine." She smiled. "And I would still be yours."

Her lips began to twitch as she imagined how ridiculous their marriage would look to those on the outside. A politically useless princess and a disgraced ex-Admiral marrying? She knew her rank was hollow, his was gone. Well, that would change. When she had a child, and a lineage, her rank would have to be officially recognised...and that would mean she could bring back Lyson's rank. It might take some time but she could do it...whether or not Eris agreed with her.

Ophius rubbed her temples as she ran over the collected data she'd downloaded from the infodumps and the basic analyses. She shuddered slightly underneath her dress. It chilled her every time she saw those hives. They were far too large for her to feel comfortable even considering fighting them. A thought sent the reconstruction of the battle flickering up onto the holo, annotations crawling alongside the figures to detail their observed capabilities.

"This is what I'm worried about." She sighed, her brow creasing slightly, "While your battlesuits could probably destroy any group of fighters they come across...well, they have the fighters to simply go around them. Perhaps an extended escort net could stop that, but they'd be spread too thin to hold out against a concerted punch from those capital ships." The holo brought the systemnal map again, various orbital patterns showing up as potential escort nets. "That's where we have our advantage, I think. While the Colma and Florans have their capital ships and their smaller craft, they don't seem to have a huge amount of escorts or cruisers and that's going to limit their force projection ability to their fighters."

She picked up a forkful of Schlange root and grimaced as she started to chew on it, partially because of the taste and partially because the Silver Scythe was being enveloped by the Florans on the holo.

"We're going to need a tight point defence mesh." She said solemnly, "As tight as we can get it."

John had been quiet this entire time, but Shellist stopped the silence from the UTT.
"I'm going to stop you there. They have the Silver Scythe, plus Apex shields. There isn't a way we'll damage the Scythe with multiple ships coming out at rapid pace. We need to sit back, and assess our situation from their strategy. The Scythe is called so because it can make a laser scythe that cuts through ships. The Florans rely on blitzkrieg strategy, so the best way to do anything is to wait for ships to stop pouring. I say we get as much distance as possible, have the Golden Scythe in the lead, cutting through ships, and have Ostian Battlesuits protect the Scythe. If they get their hands on the Golden Scythe, I don't know if we can make a push. The Scythe technology took us 4 years to make on both ships, so we have no way of replicating it quick enough."

Ceto wanted to scream into her amniotic. That couldn't be her only option available! She had to have more choices!

Kzinti Lesson: A reaction drive's efficiency as a weapon is in direct proportion to its efficiency as a drive.

Ceto would have grinned had she been in control of her face. A part of her mind was directing the countermissiles and point defence LASERs, orchestrating an apocalyptic war with the oncoming pods, another part was preparing the pods for ejection and a third was keeping energy regulated, but most of her mind was running the calculations. Yes, this might just work.

[Command-MEngine4-9-fire-overridebloackagewarning-vector1837392]

A jet of plasma spurted from the maneuver engines, punching through the outer edge of the tether pushing the ship into a spin, straining against the tethers. Ceto noted objects falling off of the outer hull and paled slightly. Boarding parties? That was bad news. The entire crew were in their pods and the Marine complement had been stripped out for the mission. If one of them got inside, then the entire crew was dead. But the ship was aimed now, and Ceto gleefully inputted the next set of commands into the ship.

[Command MEnginges-autostabilise]

[Command-Engine-fullpower]

A roaring funnel of plasma burst from the rear of the Ophian, tearing into the first tether, and any pods unlucky enough to get in the way, with savage ferocity. Even as parts began to brake off, Ceto saw several damage reports beginning to flash up in her mind. This was only just beginning.

As the plasma bursts destroyed some of the tethers, the tethers split into two more. It was like the legend of the Hydra, once a burst of plasma cut off one spike, 2 more sprouted in its place. The boarding pods were having a harder time, as the plasma was thick enough to destroy everything on the tethers. Eventually, the ship was spinning, shooting off plasma left and right as tethers impaled the ship's metal. Some Floran pods became one with the tethers, and only about 2 managed to get in. But, that was only the start. The spores began to shoot off on the hull of the ship, spreading the infection like a cold.

"Hmm, quite troubling, I have to admit." Says Johnson. "Reminds me of the Tyranids, a similar threat we've dealt with in the past." He pauses.
"Those two planets they are terraforming seem quite problematic. It is most likely they are using the Planet's biomass to create new vessels. I recommend laying exterminatus to both worlds. It's always possible to re-terraform the world later. The voice you mentioned admiral; it seems to be in sense a hive mind: a 'being' that controls their fleet. And yes, it was most likely trying to indoctrinate you soldiers. If nothing else is to be said, I say we move out fast. It's better to take out the threat than wait for it to grow."

Meanwhile Commander Richard was shaking his head.
"Your telling me the Ostians don't treat all their citizens equally. Back in the old Union, all citizens were equal, and it didn't matter who you were. Our motto was freedom, equality, justice, strength, and labor."

"Very likely." Rowan admitted.

Lyris pulled up her map of Eridanus. "When they do, the Martells will probably try to seize Theta Eridani. The system contains one of the Forge-Worlds of House Fellhorn, and is the stronghold of the Daynes in that part of Eridanus."

"Let me guess." Dmitri said, "That'll be bad. Will you need help fighting off the Martells? From what I've seen, I think I like your houses better anyway."

Rowan smiled. "Then you'll like House Caridin, as well. They're the ruling house and one of Dayne and Fellhorn's greatest allies."

Lyris thought for a second. "Honestly, the Daynes might be able to hold Dorian Martell off, unless the Martells bring the ICS Spear of the Sun. Then we have a issue. Though the ICS Valhalla or the ICS Hyperion might be able to intervene. So, a little bit of help might be necessary. But anyhow, we need to get this to Lord Caridin."

Rowan looked off screen. "Speaking of Caridin..."

At that moment, the ICS Old Arcadia appeared in a flash of light. On its side was a gold stripe, announcing House Caridin's ownership.

Rowan did a little fiddling, and soon enough, Ionia Caridin, the second daughter of Darius Caridin was on screen. She had black hair and electric blue eyes.

Rowan filled her in as Lyris fiddled with the translator once again to account for Ionia's mixture of Old Cadian and Terran.

When the translator was fixed again. Ionia turned toward Dmitri.

"I am Ionia Caridin, daughter of Darius Caridin, and Thane of Cadia. You are?"
