On a (slightly) more serious note, how is it that we end up making all the ships around here? Does no-one else have any shipbuilding infrastructure lying around?

We have plenty of shipbuilding, there is an entire ring around our world that does so, it's just that there's no point to build anything so soon (second week of arrival here). Plus, it's not like we don't have enough ships (2000 ships were stationed on Arcturus 2 at the times).

Quickie question, how much better are your inertial dampeners compared to regular 40K?

For AI only ships, the inertial dampening is closer to the necrons than the Imperium. Standard ships are still significantly better than Imperial Ships, but won't often accelerate too often.
