North Shore [D20] [D&D3.5-lite] [IC]

Postby Unified Heartless States » Mon Oct 05, 2015 8:39 am

Story

You will be roleplaying in the North Shore Peninsula. The continent it is attached to is currently being ravaged by dragons once again. Long ago this land was indeed ruled by dragons but that changed when the now patron god of this land, Chyketh, created his own race of Dwarves to rule it. He hand once lived among the Dwarves for many of years until they discovered his divine identity, at which point he left to create a race in their image. Although considered Dwarven, they are so in name only which is why many simply refer to them Chwarves. The Chwarves are beings of metal and ore, who had the ability to merge any two elements or minerals together. Not just metals, but also elements like fire and water (i.e. and not just steam, but equal properties of both). When they reached of age, they would merge armor onto their mannequin-like features. Outside of this, and the few artifacts they left, not much is known of the race. After the Chwarves fought off the dragons, the dragons began to plague surrounding continents. This eventually led to years of foreign invasion as they were both fleeing the dragons and resentful of the Chwarves. The dragon did not give up their former kingdom either, raiding all over the shores of this continent. The Chwarves held them at bay, for well over 4,000 years. They crated large walls and mega-structures of gemstone and metal throughout their continent wide empire. In time they lost favor with (most of) the gods, who helped start an internal civil war and tipped the scales against their favor. A combined effort of Gods directly acting on the mortal world, a civil war between races seeking independence, elder dragons, and hordes of foreign invaders hammered Chwarves on all side until they simply vanished. Gods parishes, races gained independence, and foreigners gained vast shorelines of territory. For the briefist of moments, there was a peace. Then the dragons swarmed the now under-defended cities, with the exception of the North Shore Peninsula. This continued for 400 years until a Rift moved the whole continent, where it stayed for 150 years, plagued by daily Rifts bringing in more and more creatures. You and your party have been brought here, viva one of these Rifts in space and time (or you are simply native to this land), where you have been captured and imprisoned by strange mechanical constructs for about 3 months. These mechanical beings would grab "test subjects" at random to never return. Their faction, known to you as Skynet, housed you in a laboratory-n-prison close to the Great Wall and after a raid by some elder dragons you and a small militia of prisoners managed to climbed the wall (utilizing a makeshift ladder in the dead of night), successfully escaping into the North Shore.

Rules

I work, alot, as such you should be aware that this roleplay will be going at a snails pace.
- Wednesday-Thursday things will pick up, after the 10th of October, Tuesday-Wednesday.
- - All other days, I will not be able to post other than late at night or late morning. . .

This is far from a proper D&D game, so don't worry if you're new because I'd prefer newer players.

You can attack any NPC, at any time, for any reason (which dose not includes your fellow players).

If you die, to bad. Either create a new character or wait till your old character get's brought back.
- The first time your health goes to zero or below, your character will simply be knocked out.
- - Though this may depend on how you lost that health in question.

The Out of Character Chat can be found here. If you want to join, inquire there.
- Keep in mind, OoCC will be posted here. Unless I specifically ask you to move the OoCC, then in should be posted here in ((double parenthesis)) to save time.

((Your current location, your full map))

Your escape was quite successful and quite the sight to see. After climbing the great wall, the large group started disbanding into smaller warbands. You've teamed up with 4 other individuals, of which you have encountered before but only under limited circumstances, and have decided to stick together as you travel the North Shore with your newly found freedom. After a quick look-over of a makeshift map given to your group, you all climbed down the wall and traveled far north towards some forestry in the dead of night. You reach your destination, tired and exhausted, so you sleep here for the night after consuming the last of your rations. It's early morning now and you all are up. After taking another look at your map, you can see there is a village of sort a simple days journey to the east. Their is also another to the west, which is also a days journey, and you approximate it will take three days to reach another one to the north. Your immediate surrounds are that of a lightly dense forest, though the deeper you go the denser the foliage becomes. Currently, you are far enough away from the main road that you can't see it but close enough that in a few short paces you can see it once again. In the dead of night you only saw rabbits and a few squirrels, though now that it's morning you can hear the chirping of birds in the distance.

Ishe looked her new companions, a Minotaur, a Kobold, what appeared to be a goblin crossed with a monkey, and a black haired woman. All in all, the group seemed like a motley band, Ishe would have laughed at the strange variety of races the group was comprised of if it were not for the fact that she knew the 5 of them were going to be stuck together for quite some time. They had stopped to rest a short distance from the road and in an attempt to break the science Ishe spoke up.

"So," she began, "we all know each other's names but besides that we don't know much about each other. So what did you guys do for a living before, well, we got in this mess?"

After a few moment's of silence, she decided that she would have to be the one to go first.

"Well before I ended up in that Prison Skynet ran, I was the daughter of a carpenter. My mother had died of a plague some time after I was born so it was just me and my dad for the most part. He had begun to teach me the art of carpentry but then Skynet raided the tribe and I was one of the few who survived. What remained of our tribe was split up and from there I ended up in that Prison..."

The Minotaur looked at the ones around hims. Midas was rather caught on one of his slave trades, while he didn't see it as anything bad apperently humans had a problem when you sell other humans. Hypocrites, he felt they all where so eager to sell other creatures for cash but not there own species it made him pretty mad.

Midas let out a short of angry air as he looked around stretching, "I got caught selling humans as slaves...they have no problem selling other animals but the second you start selling humans there up in arms. They got me when I was headed to one of the towns with some of my products. Strong labour is a valuable commodity, especially when you only have to pay for them once."

Midas looked around the trees and stretched again, "it feels good to be free" Midas began to sniff the air for any scents he could pick up, before he really relaxed he wanted to be sure they where the only ones around.

(( [Roll: 12] Other than your current party, you can smell a faint scent belonging to a small creature though it is slowly getting fainter as it movies away. Your ability also helped you pin-point where some of the chirping is coming from, as there are 3~4 small birds in a tree not all that far from you. You can also smell a strong odor coming at you down wind from the road. It is getting stronger and you can tell it belongs to a Bovine, though what type or kind you cannot tell. Note, this information applies to Midas only.))

"It sure is," Ishe replied to Midas. She took a deep breath and took in the fresh clean air of nature, but her stomach grumbled which took her attention away from the beauty.

"Well if there's one thing I miss about the prison," she muttered, "it's the fact we got food."

"Well I don't care if it's beef or pork or whatever, I just want food."

Ishe followed behind Midas, silently praying to herself that it was a small boar that would be easy to catch.

"The smells getting stronger whatever it is, it's got a very strong scent. I'm guessing a cow maybe" he looked forward heading forward towards the scent. He moved the trees out of his way licking his lips, he didn't know what he would find but if Somthing got in his way they would meet the end of his horns.

Once clear of the brush, those looking toward the road can see a yak with a pack on one side and what appears to be other supplies tied with rope along it's other side. It is led by an elderly fellow, human, who is alongside the animal. Other than his clothing and a tree branch he is using as a walking stick, he appears to have nothing else but what is on the yak. Both are moving quite slowly down the road, heading east. Neither the elder nor the yak have noticed you near the treeline. From this distance, Midas can tell the creature smells quite bad and likely had masked the sent of the human (who presumably must smell as bad as the yak).

Bin was chittering uncontrollably. They had taken her gun! Her precious gun! Her greatest masterwork! It was beautiful! Dazzling, even! They had taken it away, and now Bin was uncontrollably doing calculations, spouting random letters and numbers as she quickly shot off complex probability equations and design specifications. She clutched her temples, her blue scales flushing from the usual bright blue to a darker shade of blue. She let off a small squeak, and then something popped, and the short kobold toppled onto the minotaur's legs.
Otherwise known as Nornsmark for official, region-ey things.

Midas picked the Kobald up and looked at her, "well looks like I got a travling buddy." He chuckled and put her in his shoulder before he stepped out and looked at the yak. Then at the old man, "well then, do you speak common?" He asked wanting to get some directions before killing anyone randomly

The old man spotted the minotaur and the party behind, after his interaction with the kobald, watching as he stepped out. If this robed old man might have been startled by the size of the minotaur, it was put to rest with his interaction with the kobald. "Why of course, young lads, I can speak Common." he replies to you with ease, in Common, as he and the yak come to a complete stop. All those who approaching him can tell he, along with his yak, reeks a most foul odor.

"We need directions where a bit lost, do you know of any towns or anything?" He was trying to be polite, humans usually liked it when you where respectful, besides this man was old and Midas at the least had respect for the elderly. "Where also very hungry, we haven't eaten in at least a good week.." Midas stomach growled as soon as he said this.

In reply to your first question, "Well, I'm coming from Dilworth. Just head west, towards the great wall and you'll get their. Me, I'm heading east to Deep Spring. You can also head to the north, to Captains Cove, but it's not a safe place to be." He gives you a big grin when you ask about food to eat, and replies, "Well, I'm quite hungry myself. How about we find a place off the road, we wouldn't want to be interrupted by those ruffians from Captains Cove. I doubt they'd interrupt us. . . But. . . It's always good to be safe. Now then, we can have some beef, lots of beef, if you just fallow me." He steps off the road, heading away from the forest, motioning with his walking stick so you'll fallow him to have a seat on the open grass.

Gur who was quite obvious to the common tongue and who's growing stomach was drowning out the sounds of the group. Had no idea what the group was going on about. All he could think of was the smell of yak as he followed the group. He found the bovine was guarded by what looked to be a old man.
Clearly, he was no threat for the experienced raider that was gur.

So, he decided to creep up on the man, catching up off guard as the old man interacts with the others and tackling him for his weapon. (Tree Branch)

Kikyo gagged as the stench from the Yak reached her nose it smelt even worse than Muskox during rutt. She could not help but feel like she smelt this horrible stench. Nothing was making sense to Kikyo she had come across Yak herds before while herding her Reindeer and they did not smell this bad. She placed her sleeve over her nose as she tried to identifying the stench emanating from the old man and his yak.

Gur successfully sneaks outside of the old mans line of sight, making Gur the only person in the party not to be spotted by the man or his yak. He sneaks closer, taking advantage of his party and the fact the old man's back is turned to sneak behind him. Gur is now in a position to strike, if he so wishes.

Gur indeed wishes to strike. Old age and the crippled body that comes with it is no proper excuse for kindness and respect in Gur's mind. Gur strikes the man with a swift two legged kick as he supported his weigh with his hands and swung his body for momentum in hopes of knocking the poor pathetic creature to the ground.
In doing so gur believes his actions would be enough to showcase his dominance. Intimating the man to surrender his belonging and yak.

Realizing the true nature of the man and his yak Kikyo instructs her spectral ally to attack the ghoul while she attempts to paralyze the undead yak with her gaze.

((As a group, you can see Gur sneaking about. It would be hard not to notice since he is using you to hide his advance. To the group, it seems as if he is readying an attack of sorts. Kikyo seems to fallow suit, taking an aggressive stance. Since there are two of you who might not want to seen the old man attacked. What actions will you take, if any, in the defense of this poor old man? Also, kikyo can only perform one action at a time. It's to prevent players from stacking spells and abilities. Since spectral ally was cast first, that's what she will lead with.))

Midas growls and watches, after getting a bit of information he makes sure to try and remember it. Now he also realized he was seeing an illusion, just great already into the thick of it. He decides not to do anything and wait it out he doesn't have any weapons besides his horns and he's not exactly sure if he can kill it with just those. He waits to make his move at least for now.

Gur, Kikyo, Midas, Ghoul, Undead Yak, Ishe, Bin

Gur's attack was successful, but just barely. As Gur went for his stealthy kick, the old man began to turn. If he took a moment longer, the man would have seen the attack coming. Although the hit landed and dealed a total of 3 damage, the old man was able to catch himself with an unnatural quickness. Neither he nor his branch fell to the ground as previously intended. He yells, as loudly as he can, "Betrayers!" as the illusion falls. Both he and the yak can now be seen for what they truly are by anyone in the group.

Kikyo summons the fallowing creature: ((this action cost you 20 Ability Points))
Lv 1 Sirine
4 Strength
1 Dexterity
2 Constitution
16 Intelligence
18 Wisdom
3 Charisma
The Undead Yak, taking advantage of Midas' inaction, successfully attacked him with a charge of it's horns; dealing a total of 1 damage to Midas' abdomen.

((Ishe & Bin, you are up next, either one of you can post now and I'll just put your actions in order))
