History:Following WW1, in Slovakia, due to the devastations of the war, in late 1918, following great support for the Communist Party which was led by Antonin Janousek, a journalist and politician, a revolution happened, supported by the German Socialist Republic, seeing as Russia was occupied in its civil war. After months of infighting, the Slovak Soviet Republic, the name deriving from the Russian word for Council, was established. Antonin Janousek established a revolutionary government, created in the ideas of left communism espoused by the Free Socialist Workers Republic of Germany, which is the biggest ally of Slovakia. Along with the more organized army, militias in support of the Slovak SR, have been established while the government is heading massive reforms.

This caused Troelstra to believe that the government was corrupt and, inspired by the events that were taking place in Russia, believed that a communist revolution was the only way to make the Government serve the best interests of the people. After speaking with the Dutch Socialist Party, his viewpoints were dismissed by most of the members, but with the resignation of the German Emperor some were spurred into action.

The Government reacted quickly sending officers to Amsterdam and Utrecht, many Catholic organisations also started a movement to counter the socialists (which would later be supported by Protestants and moderate socialists), however the royal family could not be secured before the rebels reached the palace in Amsterdam. Here they were held hostage and forced to abdicate the throne, leaving no heirs.

Government forces were soon dispatched to the Palace, where the family had been executed. With the support of the public, communist rebels were massacred.

After this, Prime Minister Charles Ruijs de Beerenbrouck declared himself leader of a Dutch Federation, an extremely anti-communist, democratic nation. Initially the people of the Netherlands were shocked by this decision but through the use of public news outlets, they were alerted to the fact that a government change had taken place due to the distinct lack of Royal Family. Elections were to take place in 1920.

After the end of World War I, Soviet Russia began a westward offensive following the retreating German Army. It attempted to spread the global proletarian revolution and sought to establish Soviet republics in Eastern Europe. By the end of December 1918, Bolshevik forces reached Lithuania. The Bolsheviks saw the Baltic states as a barrier or a bridge into Western Europe, where they could join the German and the Hungarian Revolutions.
The Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic was proclaimed on 16 December 1918 and the Socialist Soviet Republic of Byelorussia was established on 1 January 1919. The two republics were weak, championed by newly created Communist Party of Lithuania and Communist Party of Byelorussia but not enjoying public support. They were faced with military setbacks in the Polish–Soviet and Lithuanian–Soviet Wars, so the Soviets decided to consolidate the efforts and the two republics were merged into the Lithuanian–Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic on 27 February 1919.
