Please don't collab without player input. It's very rude, especially to those who want to be part of the scene. Collabs are great for conversations between two characters. It frees up the IC from a bunch of small-post clutter. Sometimes an action scene can be collab'd, such as when players are working together to do something and the posts setting it up would be very short.

Some suggestions for our group, as a player:

... and can be discarded at your whim. Suggestions have been known to cause erectile dysfunction in women. Pregnant or lactating men should not take suggestions as suggestions can be passed through breast milk. Suggestions are not a flotation device. CHOKING HAZARD WARNING. do not leave young children unsupervised when using suggestions.

Wargammer 101 - Orgres might be “barbaric”, but apparently they’re no different than humans when it comes to protocols. We have three leaders that stepped away from their protective group, came all the way up the lawn, and are standing at the front door. How would it be interpreted by the ogres if we send more than three people out? They haven't issued a challenge, meaning they haven't declared that the Building is under siege. They put their leaders within arrow's reach.

Picture the Building as a castle (which I suspect the ogres are doing, given that they sent their leaders to parlay and paused short of the stoop). We might have people on the walls (windows), but we wouldn't send a bunch of fighters out the gate. The ogres don't know that we have diplomats. They'd see bodies, and given how close we are to the Wold, they might assume that those bodies are magic users because of the lack of weapons. Yinz would unnecessarily ramp up the situation if you make a show of force.

Let's treat this as a scene from a Tolkien novel, or something from the tales involving King Arthur. Let's wait and see who they address, in this case. Let's let them assume that our first speaker is a mouthpiece. This is just a suggestion, of course.

And finally, let's give the ogres the benefit of the doubt. Let's say for a brief moment that they are equal in intelligence to man. From their perspective, they've just ridden up to the gates of Mordor. This magical castle appeared out of nowhere and now sits where the ruins were ("Ruins-crashers"!)

Also... oh you collab-happy peeps... We have characters that can aid, if other characters ask. Please don't exclude our characters from your plans.

My commentary on the undercurrent going on with players:

PL is a collective. We have characters that might be deemed "Dark". We have characters that might be deemed "Light". We run the full alignment gambit, from Chaotic Good to Chaotic Evil. Your characters are living side-by-side. They might not like werewolves because werewolves are "bad" where they come from, but the Resident werewolf is a Resident and has probably proven that he's a team player willing to put aside his personal ambitions or tendencies in order to stand shoulder to shoulder with the rest.

We are turning on each other because we have nowhere to turn. Add to this a general unfamiliarity with how PL used to operate.

The attitudes are pushing away players like Prim and NVE who are working very, very hard to fit in. Cut these people some slack, please.

Players have stated that they don't want an "invasion" or a "war" right now - yet a bunch of you are (perhaps) unintentionally creating division IC and OOC.

If I'm doing anything wrong, guys, please just let me know. *Nods*

And uh, I hope the collab doesn't deal with the Ogre problem in one post, I would like to be a part of the scene and how it plays out (I wouldn't have sent Bran if I didn't want to be a part of anything)

Same here, really, for that second point. It woudl kind of be boring if something like that just got dealt with right away you know?

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

Fair enough. :p

I'd fall flat on my face if I tried writing posts like that, so I guess I have no right to complain. I'm just not a good writer yet.

The more I read this post the more I agree and the more I grow concerned with the Collab.
I don't want to start a conflict because we come to a diplomatic meeting with an army.
I strongly advocate for a SMALL group of people to leave the building.
I'm considering just having Primordial sit out to lower the numbers and not start a conflict immediately.
I'm getting a very strong sense of too many cooks here.

~The balance of power and logistics favors the defender when fortifications are involved~

To answer a question: The ogres do not have siege engines. No scaling ladders, battering rams, siege towers or various types of catapults such as a mangonel, onager, ballista, or trebuchet are present.

Yep, the collab will reflect as such when coming. The collab serves to bridge two scenes that would otherwise been very disjointed.

A valid point.
I just feel like it should have been broken up better from a Player standpoint not a Character one.
I personally we should give every Player something to do but I worry that giving every Character something to do devalues every other Character's role just a little bit.
I don't need Aegis, Insidious AND Primordial doing something, I could if the situation was more diverse but it doesn't lend itself towards that.
IMHO

Keep in mind this is working in phases. The security teams staying behind are there for a reason, in case the diplomatic approach fails. Additionally, Residents not currently part of any team should be looking at other roles that need to be filled:

  • Medical staff in case things get violent
  • Extra security teams to man the vehicles (Thaddeus' truck has machine guns and ammunition)
  • Teams to handle logistics (the aforementioned ammunition is needed by Bran's helicopter, as is the fuel in the tanker that the truck is towing)

As far as I'm concerned, there's an opportunity here for players to do something, provided they come and take it. Players piling onto a single activity tends to cause the overcrowding that Prim is mentioning, but that's not because of an absence of activities - merely that the focus has been set on a single one.

Posting the collab, late enough and let's get a move on.

There are multiple openings for one and all, not just the 'delegation', but the defense of the building, Romulus' team to haul weapons and get back asap, and the healer's group, and.. whatever else our zany group can think of -nodnod-

Post incoming.
