Welcome to the grand opening of War Gears Academy, a school located in Mēpurushiroppu City, Japan for mechanical girls capable of tremendous feats of destruction. The Second World War may have ended, but the tension between nations has not.
Mechanics
During the 19th century, Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla discovered the previous unknown qualities of the element Core, capable of powering any machine with relative ease. The newfound use of the mineral was a revolutionary development, nations all around the world mined, collected, and hoarded the substance. It saw use in powering vehicles, and being made into artillery shells. When shattered, the substance created a hellish explosion, thus making for powerful artillery shells. But, because of scarcity, it saw little use until the 20th century, when war swept down Europe and nations began to build armored vehicles to break through the trenches that were causing a stalemate.
After the debut of tanks during the Battle of Somme, the British and French proposed that armor be built for use by people, based on the same armor of the tanks deployed in battle. These mechanized humans were nicknamed "War Mages," as a security measure. Scientists concluded that teenage girls were the ideal candidate for the program, their light weight making it easy for them to move around, and psyches being at their most intense. During the war, their armor and Core proved prone to malfunction, limiting their use. A side effect of the Core was that contact with it prolonged the girls' lives unnaturally. A 15 year old mage who fought in the French trenches could appear the exact same age into the 50's and 60's.
While Britain and France were the first to develop Armored Mages, Germany mastered the art of Aerial Mages, girls armed with machine guns and aircraft machinery enabling them to fly. The Red Baroness became famous during the war, seen as a modern knight in shining armor.
After the war ended, the Treaty of Versailles ordered the disarmament of the War Mages of the Continental Powers, as well as banning the mining of Core by Germany. Despite this, German companies and officers still continued to experiment with Core and develop armor, with War Mages nicknamed "Blumenmädchen," as a codename to veil their purpose.
In 1933, Adolf Hitler came to power and rearmed Germany, approving of the creation of more War Mages. The 1st Armored Mage Regiment was added to the 1st Panzer Division.
During the Second Italo-Ethiopian War, Carro Veloce and Aerial Mages were used against the Ethiopians, the latter inflicting devastating casualties on the tribal soldiers with their machine guns and poison gas. Type 97 Chi-Ha mages proved to be ferocious against the Chinese army in the Second Sino-Japanese War, facing outdated opponents.
The Spanish Civil War was the testing ground of new technology, mages being amongst them. The Panzer I, T-26, and L3 mages were the most prominent ground mages, the Soviet armored mages excelling both the Panzer I and L3/33 girls.
Fire was kindled over Europe once more, as Hitler repeatedly violated treaties and annexed both Austria and Czechoslavakia; with Britain and France left no choice but to declare war when he invaded Poland. The kindling exploded in Europe's face when Germany responded by invading France and the Low Countries, War Mages seeing combat on all sides. While Allied armor was in many cases superior, they were reluctant to use them, and the Germans with superior mobility outflanked the Maginot Line and pushed into Paris.
For five years, the world was at war, more and more War Mages being created, depleting the Core reserves of nations more and more. Like the other soldiers, the War Mages fought to the literal bloody end, but in the end, the Allies triumphed. Mussolini was executed by partisans and hung upside the town square, Hitler ended his life by suicide rather than be captured, and Tojo was tried and sentenced to hang while the emperor escaped the same fate.
The year is now 1946, a whole year after the Second World War has ended. Since the Nuremberg Trials, the War Mages from Germany and Japan (along with some Italian mages who remained loyal to Mussolini or were commandeered into the Waffen SS) have been interned in an Academy, since no agreement can be made about their future. Some Allied mages have also been put in the "War Gears" Academy, to keep an eye on, and help integrate the former Axis mages. It appears that peace may be at hand.
Recently a large amount of Core was stolen and a mage was found murdered by police. The tension between East and West grows every day, with the ideologically opposed USA and USSR paranoid about the other, proving a hindrance to the investigation. What this means remains unclear, but a storm is coming.

5. To ensure high quality, a minimum of one paragraph is required in an IC post. It must be grammatically correct, although minor errors will be overlooked.

Name: Riley Johnson
Personification of: M3 Stuart
Gun & Armor Stats:
Armor: 13–51 mm (0.51–2.01 in)
Main armament: 37 mm M6 in M44 mount
Secondary armament: 3 × .30-06 Browning M1919A4 MG
Physical Appearance (pic if possible):
Personality: swift and constantly alert, as though she expects an attack at all angles. She is competitive and refuses to accept defeat, which results in her being perceived as a bad sport.
Bio: the daughter of a poor Kentucky farmer who struck black gold in the Appalachian mountains when she was nine, Riley and her five sisters had lived in poverty until then. She grew up fairly luxurious afterwards, becoming cosmopolitan to the dismay of her mother and sisters, who wanted to preserve their old religious values. Riley dyed her hair blue, was known to start fights, and briefly participated in the Silvershirts. A futurist at heart, she took to painting and action, attracting the attention of the US army who needed a mage to test the M2 light tank. Riley joined the army and became a M2 light mage. In 1941, she was upgraded to the M3 Stuart.
After Pearl Harbor, America entered the war on the side of the Allies. Riley saw combat in the Philippines, fighting the Japanese in the jungles of South-East Asia. While her record in combat was admirable, ultimately she was withdrawn and replaced with the M4 Sherman mage, something Riley regarded as a betrayal by her superiors. She grew bitter after being discharged and took to drinking and tobacco, living a life of hedonism until being requested to attend War Gears Academy to supervise the Axis mages. She accepted out of sheer boredom and the lingering desire to put her armor back on once again.
