(I'm thinking of having the char work for something lexcorp or Star Labs-esque, if that doesn't exist yet that's cool)

Come to think of it we could use a massive suspicious shady coorperate entity in this world.
Someone with big dividends and that reaches across threads would be cool.

I'm kind prepping for this in a way.

Not really... what thread are you interested in joining? I can try to brainstorm a way to hop in if you like.

I'm open to any. I'll look around and see which one would be best.

Character Application!
Super Identity: N/A
Real Identity: Jordon Scott
Is the true identity public knowledge or private? Public Knowledge
Hero, Villain, or Neutral? Villain, although the public considers him a hero.
Age: 34
Gender: Male
Appearance: Pictures or descriptions are fine.
N/A

Group Affiliation: Scott Industries (CEO)
D&D Alignment: Neutral Evil (leaning ever so slightly towards lawful)
Powers: Intelligence, Charisma
Equipment: None, unless you consider the vast resources of Scott Industries – although it would be inaccurate to say that Scott can wield these indiscriminately: shareholders, regulators and all that.
Power Origin: Mutant and genetics.
Weaknesses: Lacking in physical powers, Scott is flesh and blood and as vulnerable to the inevitable consequences of the weakness of a human’s corporeal form. In addition to this, he must keep up the façade of the philanthropist businessman in the public eye and so cannot make his moves too overt. Furthermore, while charismatic and capable of earning people’s trust and loyalty with ease, Scott’s insistence on his own superiority threatens his ability to work in a team and can also lead to his underestimating his opponents.

Personality:
Cold and calculating, Scott sees the people around him as pawns – with a scarce few perhaps as bishops, knights or towers. The world is a malleable thing in the eyes of a visionary, and knowing what strings to pull to make it do your bidding is an artform in and of itself. Greedy, arrogant and narcissistic, everything exists to be utilised and discarded, exploited and manipulated. It’s a dog eat dog world, and Jordon Scott intends to look down upon it from the top.

However, this is not the answer that you would get if you were to ask someone on the street. Nothing if not charismatic, Scott has crafted his public image as a famed philanthropist. A vocal supporter of rehabilitation and understanding, Scott has pioneered new models of privatised prisons that focus on turning criminals into model members of society. He is a man who has made it and now devotes his life to bettering those who have not – while trying to save the world at the same time. And better yet, he does it normally – without all the shadowy capes and masks.

Although initially driven by pure and unadultered greed, Scott sought to claim the power and riches that he felt his intellect deserved him. Other people were incapable and lacked the real vision that was demanded of the wielder of influence. However as he amassed his fortune and came to realise his goal, Scott found himself driven by another motive as well: the thrill of proving himself to be better. Life is a grand game played by those who wield influence, and what is the point of power if one cannot partake?

Background:
Jordon Scott: the shining example of a reformed criminal. A man who turned his life around through sheer grit and determination, righting the wrongs of his past and never ceasing in his vendetta to repay society.

Hardly.

Born to a lower-class family in Los Angeles, Scott grew up with an abusive father and a mother who ran from the suffocating household at the earliest opportunity. Her son could hardly blame the woman he had never known – he did the same as soon as he was able.

Scott excelled in every aspect of his schooling career, from academics to sports. Topics and ideas that took years for his peers to grasp came easily to him, until he surpassed his teachers and grew bored of the dreary pace of the education system. But he relished the days of school, where he could poke and prod at the strings that bound the fragile social order within. He toyed with human emotions, crafting elaborate schemes to guide and twist the lives of his fellows. Under his watch more than one teacher resigned in tears, humiliating details having been revealed or incriminating photos published. And that is without even mentioning what he could accomplish with the more malleable students.

Easily the most popular kid in the school, Scott was a shoe-in for School President, although he still enjoyed tearing apart his competitor’s reputation and sullying his name – appearances had to be kept up after all. However, manipulating his fellow students was quickly becoming dull. Scott longed to be able to apply himself to a far greater challenge.

Determined to establish himself, in part out of spite for his father and also in part to simply prove what he could achieve, Scott founded Scott Industries and quickly went into the ‘middleman’ business – connecting buyers and sellers for a variety of high-end products while making any specific modifications that may have been requested. But impatient and eager to pull himself higher up in the social ladder, Scott soon found himself involved in the criminal underworld, establishing himself in the Los Angeles black market as a man who could get his hands on anything for the right price. Weapons, drugs, identities, Jordon Scott was the middleman for the scum of the city – the reach of his contacts seemingly knowing no bounds. In the space of a few years, the young Jordon Scott found himself with more money than his family had ever dreamed of in their years of poverty. His first thought was, of course, to immediately re-invest it in his fledgling company, and soon enough Scott Industries was producing its own products as well as selling that of others. However, barely more than an adolescent, it was inevitable that it would go to his head, and Scott started spending more than he should have, a mistake that inevitably lead to his downfall.

Jordon Scott, or at least his many aliases, had become known to the LADP fairly early on. Unbeknownst to the young criminal, a whole task force had been dedicated to bringing him to justice and cut off the supply of weapons, drugs and illicit goods that he was funnelling into the country. With Jordon Scott haemorrhaging a torrent of cash from his poor neighbourhood home, he practically stuck out like a giant target on the police’s radar. A few weeks of surveillance, and a SWAT raid later, and Jordon found himself brought before a judge. While his young age was a shock, at 24 he still felt the full brunt of the law brought upon him as punishment. Found guilty, the man was sentenced to 8 years in prison. However, he’d be let out after only 6 – courtesy of some past contacts and exceptionally good behaviour.

Throughout his term, Scott proved himself to be the model inmate. He performed endless hours of community service, and donated whatever could not be collected of his still substantial wealth to fund rehabilitation projects for his fellow inmates and publically apologised for his crimes. By the time the eight years were up, Scott practically had to be coerced into accepting the shorter sentence for good behaviour – although the timing was perfect.

Scott emerged from his cell wizened, and more ambitious than ever. He had learned that public attention was everything, and that real power came from tugging at shadows. During his internment, he had gone over his childish endeavour, and had become disgusted at his past self’s lack of ambition. Small-time criminal enterprises, a shipment here and there, where had been his vision? Once let out, Scott had equipped himself with a drive to never again bite the bitter taste of such failure. Within a month of his release, Jordon had resumed his role at the floundering Scott Industries.

Exploiting the contacts from his past life – although being sure to stick to the grey area of the law that helped keep his activities out of the LAPD’s eye – Scott quickly managed to once again make a name for himself as being able to come up with innovative solutions for unexpected problems. Boeing, Lockheed, Thales, Airbus, contracts were pouring in for the expanding Scott Industries as spin-off products were gobbled up by major corporate players. But Scott never once planned to allow the results of his own labour to forever go on to feed the profits of the ageing players of the industry. And so, Scott Industries quickly made its debut into the Arms Industry – starting off small, but innovative and original. While this foray started out as being anything but profitable, Scott was in it for the long game, and had yet to reveal his coup de grace.

In mere years since his release, a repentant Jordon Scott revealed his gift to the world as penance for his crimes: a new form of industrial-scale battery that dwarfed the efficiency of any that came before it. The affordable creation promised to bring clean, renewable alternatives to the masses and breathe new life in the drive to wean humanity from fossil fuels. In a press statement, Scott actively encouraged other companies to make use of his invention, giving away patents for only the slimmest of royalties to his competitors in the name of “bettering the world.”

Overnight, Jordon Scott went from being a flawed villain to a hailed visionary and hero. He announced that Scott Industries would focus on making “products that matter” from then on, causing the stock price to surge, even if profits were near non-existent from the act of practically giving away the new SurgeCells. But that was soon to change.

The sudden promise of a sharp rise in renewable energy usage in the developed world caused the oil price to tumble dramatically. The sudden instability this caused in oil-developing nations lead to massive deficits and civil strife – inevitably, wars began to break out. Oil rich nations delved deep into their hefty coffers to purchase new arms, and while the world praised them for their more public sales, Scott Industries was more than happy to oblige those looking for an edge over their neighbours on the field of battle.

Now, Scott has reclaimed his lost fortune and then some. But money quickly loses its meaning after the first few million. No, it is influence and power that Scott now desires – and although he does wield it in droves, there is always more out there just waiting for the taking. The great game goes on, and he has improved his game, knowing that in order to win he must appease the mindless masses while tugging at the strings behind the scenes.

Haha, looking forward to it :P

Character Application!
Super Identity: N/A
Real Identity: Lucy Mclean
Is the true identity public knowledge or private? Public
Hero, Villain, or Neutral? Hero / Neutral (She doesn’t wear a cape, yet.)
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Appearance:
N/A (Yet)

Group Affiliation: Scott Industries
D&D Alignment: Neutral Good
Powers:
Intelligence and Stubborn Determination in spades, along with limited Technokinesis. Lucy is also able to detect and to a degree interpret electrical currents. She’s kept this ability underwraps and hasn’t revealed it to anybody, trying to teach herself how to better control it. While the most powerful shocks she’s been able to generate have been roughly equivalent to a taser, they currently leave her feeling drained. However, she has grown used to being able to rely on her powers to interface with electronics more easily.
In addition to this, Lucy is quietly working on a suit for her own use – listing the expenses under her near-limitless ‘innovation’ budget.
Equipment: Nothing as of yet, but she’s working on a suit (the details of which I haven’t figured out myself :P ). She also has access to a lot of advanced scientific equipment due to her involvement with Scott Industries.
Power Origin: Mutant
Weaknesses: Someone more powerful than you isn't a legitimate weakness. Being only vulnerable to one substance that is not readily available and nobody knows about it is a strength, not a weakness. The more ludicrous your powers are, the greater the weaknesses will need to be.
Personality:
Brilliant – academically speaking – and ever so slightly arrogant as a result, Lucy is a hopeless workaholic. She’s intrinsically curious, feeling an insatiable desire to figure out how the world around her ticks and was naturally drawn towards a career in science and engineering. She is also, at heart, a kind and compassionate individual. Believing that technology and science would ultimately provide the solution to all of the world’s problems she has thrown herself at helping to develop it.

She is also fiercely determined, even stubborn at times, while also being something of a fan-girl for superheroes. While she does criticize and accept the limitations of unlicensed vigilantism, she – like many others - secretly suffers from whimsical romanticism about misunderstood heroes – forced to wear a mask lest endanger those closest to them. After all, it was what made so many comic book characters popular back in the day. Lucy wishes that heroes would be more willing to turn to the legitimate authorities for help - if only everyone could work together, they could all achieve so much more.

Lucy firmly believes, however, that the actions of individual heroes must be more than simple holding actions. There’ll always be more crime, more villains, until the underlying problems of the world are solved. Determined to live each day to the fullest, Lucy has accomplished much in her short life and shows no sign of slowing down. There are a lot of problems out there, and Lucy only has so much time to try and find a solution.
Background:
Jordon Scott is nothing if not a diviner of talent. He first caught wind of the bright Lucy Mclean when she was still in high school and graduating early. During a science fair, she won first prize following for designing an improved version of the SurgeCell. Although technically Scott Industries had every right to sue for the infringement of their intellectual property, Jordon intervened to offer Lucy a full scholarship to the institution of her choice instead. The girl and her parents were overjoyed, and she went on to complete her Masters while performing a number of internships at Scott Industries' subsidiaries.

Upon graduating, she was immediately offered a place in the upper echelons of SI’s research division to pursue her PhD and Lucy took the opportunity with both hands without ever looking back. She found herself in charge of a small, but cutting edge team tasked with trying out the craziest of ideas no matter the cost and managed to develop multiple profitable spin offs. She has proven herself to be an expert at finding unexpected solutions, often times to problems that people didn't even know they had. Compassionate and kind to a fault, Lucy has devoted herself to her work, believing that though it she can really help change the world for the better.

Approved.

Which city would you like to enter. I was thinking Jordan Scott might receive a visit from a shady character of my own.

Not much to catch up on really. It seems safe to assume an outsider would not know too much. You could hop into Scot's LA thread. That has only just kicked off. If you write a general introduction post describing the Scot Industries building etc I will bring you a visitor.

Group Affiliation: Miller Company (CEO)
D&D Alignment: Lawful Good
Powers:
Intelligence,advanced knowledge in technology.

Equipment:
His equipment changes according to the suit he's in. The more frequent one, called by him as Exo-08,offers high-tech rounds, from explosive to shock ones,mini-missiles,particle beams,an particular AI that can command the armor by itself, oxygen support, and can absorb heat to launch it through the the gauntlets, radar scramblers, radio interceptors,EMP,microscope, database, the faster hacking of devices due to the AI present, radar, sonar, heat and night vision. He also has access to weapons from his company, and satellites as well.
All of his armor are acessible only by him, through voice, fingerprints and eye recognition.

Power Origin:
Technology

Weaknesses:
Without the armor,he's still a human. As he heavily relies on technology to fight,a situation where he's without it puts him back to just a very intelligent human.
Personality:
Miller is usually a calm and helpful person, known to be charitable and help heroes that need tech to do their actions, without cost.

Background:
Henry Stewart Miller, born to John and Nara Stewart Miller, was a child prodigy, with access to the best of education during his younger years. Having his hobbies supported by his parents,he lived a happy childhood, passing most of his days studying and putting his ideas to practice. His father always kept him distant from the controversy and trouble of the company. Despite his efforts,Henry knew what his father dealt with, and never cared about it. He knew his father was a good man, despite what the media said.

During his teenage years he became a public person, known equally for his charity actions and his distance from the family business. A smart student,he started studying different areas of knowledge, aiming to develop new ways of tech to show the world that the Millers could do something better than weapons.

At 20,in the middle of his grades, his parents died in a plane accident, with unknown causes. After graduating,he was called to be CEO,which he promptly refused. He became a loner and a billionaire, spending his days at his workshop and developing an AI,and traveling thorugh the world. He trusted the company's board to do the right thing, while trying to find his way, until he visited little countries near Russia. Unknown to him,a bloody conflict was happening at the region, and while he was at an hotel, avoiding paparazzis and conversations,a shootout started. He was held hostage during a terrorist attack, and knew the weapons. High rate of fire with excellent stability, grenades with biological damage. That was from Miller Company, and it was new.

After being saved,Miller returned to the U.S.,and took his place as CEO and an inventor for his own company. He changed the ways of the company, developing tech ranging from phones to radars, and engaged as a peace ambassador, ending the production of biological and nuclear weapons, using his nuclear plants for producing energy, and from there he invaded other markets.

Communication, defenses,Miller Company was spreading faster than he could ever imagine. However, the same feeling persisted: what he could do now? Every effort that he made wasn't enough for his goal of spreading peace, and he was still aimed as a "cold hearted gun dealer". The problem was with his name.

He researched and made projects. He always stopped at the same point: the lack of energy. He made 5 projects of exoarmors that used fusion reacrtors, but it couldn't do. Until the day he found his father's bigger secret.

John Miller had a workshop under his mansion. Full of high-tech,notes,a work of a life. All adressed to Henry, saying that he knew what to do with all that. He ended developing his AI,and found the source of energy needed: a strange, alien stone, emanating constant energy. It took him more 3 armor to get to his actual project,Exo-08,and he started constucting more, for different situations. However,he did not share it,keeping it for himself and started acting as Exo,a robotic hero that ended up having a good reception, much to Henry's surprise.

After seeing tensions in the US rising,he started a rebuilding campaign with the construction branch of his company, and as Exo,aims to increase his presence and help the heroes.

(Off: Time to engage in tech corporate warfare.)
Nothing to see here, move along.
