I think you got the powers confused because binding is making someone follow your orders, containment is the one that acts like a pokeball and I say it will work assuming which Pokemon you are dealing with. Like a Pokemon made of gas or liquid can so be sealed in a bottle while one made of metal or flesh will not work. However for them just trap them in a magic circle.

If we're going by game mechanics(which I am), then you would only have whatever Pokemon your opponent has.
