I wanted high number for the army because it is similar to the Imperial Guard, as it relies on sheer firepower and numbers to overrun the enemy. I mean, in my society, 4 million deaths in a single day on a single world is acceptable (although the people hate it). During our war with the Imperium historically, sometimes a campaign could take a billion men (our tech was much worse then, human wave tactics).

For purposes of this, I will just say the army had funding cuts and only has 1 quadrillion troops now. That's more civies.

Just one question-How are they broadcasting to other universes? We've established-in I think the predecessor to this RP?-that forms of waves (light, radio, micro, etc.) can't cross into another universe, and you can't track someone from another universe barring supernatural/divine powers (explaining how the teleporters in this RP can communicate with each other). And I'm guessing the same rules apply for this RP, considering it's basically just a reboot with a different story.

I worded my post very specifically. Yes, they have massive forces, but only a few can enter a universe at a time for it to not take years upon years for them to get there. Basically, that means that I have a fairly small force, but I can take on multiple targets at once with the same amount of troops. I've worked it all out to be balanced.

We basically send mini drones everywhere, hopefully someone receives the message. Also our ships can cross universes with their Trans-Universal engines, but those can malfunction (10% chance): in that case your ship is thrown to a random universe, not the one you aim for.

Oh, and the cross-universe tech, I had thought about that for a long time. We can trade it to people if they want. No seriously, I had the idea of a trans-universal drive since last year.

I also have to mention that Union Navy ships are rather humongous, the standard MK-2 battleship at 15 km long, and that's not even the largest (BattleStars make those look like ants). About our GDP, its roughly €80,000 a person, including children.

So, basically you're warping small ships to other dimensions, carrying the message, right?

And how would governments without the tech to warp across universes (which includes Star Fox, Star Wars, Star Trek, hell, practically everything with "Star" in the name, lol) meet up? Reverse engineering the tech would take years for extremely technologically advanced civilizations, and decades for not-so-comparatively-advanced ones.

One part of me think that it would be fitting for a British occultist to appear in Hogwarts yet at the same time being with the mystery team is perfect for a character who is an occult investigator. From what I found about the Cornerian fleet, one ship, the Great Fox, happens to be what is considered a Dreadnaught class battleship. It is 890 meters long. It also took James Mcloud an 80 year loan. Now take into account the Union's MK-2 Battleship. It's 15km long, and it's only a battleship. While it definitely loses in the mobility, speed and cool-looking department, remember that the Union can churn out these metal boxes millions a year if they have to (the massive population and industrial base). In upcoming diplomatic talks, I see spaceship and space fleet size as a topic.

In my opinion, there comes a point when bigger isn't better. Anything bigger than, say the Yamato is just asking to be mulched and sniped by things like exotic particles and other 1 shot kill, ignore armor attacks.

Actually, the humans from Arpeggio have the perfect counter against killy big things despite being a dying PMT civ. Shame the Fog don't have the blueprints for it.

I also want to say that the Union's current disposal of trans-universal drives probably gives it an advantage when it comes to space travel. The problem with the reverse-engineering the engine is that it originally took the Union 10 years to develop a working model, which malfunctioned 30% of the time. It took another 3 years to get to the current model. This is taking into account that the Union's R&D is incredibly advanced (new inventions daily) and efficient (no choking bureaucracy). The engine's original concepts are incredibly advanced and complicated, as you literally have to make a hole in your Universe's space time and contain a piece of regular space around your ship to prevent extra-universal particles from damaging it. While it is possible, only higher tech worlds could hope to reverse engineer this tech; the minimum requirement would be controlled black hole generation + space folders (a type of FTL).

Oh, I need to explain how our concept of space combat works. During the Union Civil War of 44120 AD, both sides utilized similar tactics. While technology wasn't as strong as it is today, and battleships were half size, these tactics haven't really changed. A space battle always begins with scouting ships exchanging fire. Then carriers deploy fighters, often in the many millions. At this time, huge volleys of missiles and torpedoes begin to erupt from the frontline ships. As the gap is closed, many battleships will begin to turn to their sides and unleash massive broadsides, filling space with 50,000 ton MAC shells and massed energy beams. The devastation resulting from this is usually unheard of in other societies, as an average space battle can expect thousands of ships lost and millions, if not hundreds of millions, of humans. Space combat for the Union is often quick, brutal, and unrelenting; as most battles are over in mere hours.

Fun fact: Magic is commonly known as "energy manipulation" in the Union. That being said, it is considered highly illegal and can get you arrested and questioned by the HDA (Homeland Defense Agency).

Yes, you make a good point. Many other societies view Union ships as ridiculously oversized and big targets. That's all true. Exotic particles and other weapons have been taken into account though. All Union ships have a minimal 5 layers of shielding; each with a special function, and Union armor has been tested against almost everything. While we might be a bit uppity when it comes to space combat, do remember humanity here has over 25000 years of experience.

Oh, sidetracking to those humans you mentioned, the Union would gladly help them fight their wars, thats assuming we find their world. It is our goal to help other humans and protect our species' interests.

Apto talked about the armor, now let's talk about that 80 year loan.
The Star Fox team is a mercenary group. So, the ship was being paid for by 1 guy who has a pretty low-paying job (after fuel costs and such). The Cornerian government itself could probably make tons of models of the Great Fox if it wanted to. It's like if you wanted to buy a ship irl. You'd probably have an insanely long-lasting loan to pay off, too. Yet, the governments can usually mass produce them, if they have even a decent economy.
