I'm a trading power, and even though I'm a Catholic nation, I am unbiased about trade and relations with non-Catholic nations, so my unbiased outlook towards other nations would mean they have no bias with me, therefore allowing me to travel through Gibralter. You are not God, you don't control the Straits of Gibralter, and it's up to the Andalusia player to decide whether or not I would allowed to travel through the Straits.

It is also up to the OP Board to determine the realism and ability for a nation to exist in the capacity you want it to. I am a part of the Op Board, and I'm doing part of my job. Italian nations cannot into colonies. Hell, Italian nations being more than just a single city state is an accomplishment for 1700. Yes, that is right. It is 1700. If you do not border the Atlantic, you don't have colonies. There is one exception to this in history: Sweden. However, our Sweden has an Atlantic border (if it is still around even), so the exception is no more.

If you be a colonial nation, pick a nation capable of colonizing in 1700. Also, read a few wikipedia articles on how colonialism worked and how colonial empires were established. That should explain why people such as Hungary, the Italian and German States, etc. did not into colonies pre-1880 - and even after that it is iffy.
