Walter waved his hand at Ichiru's mumbles. "Eh, it's sort of a natural law for every creatures. Mortals want to become immortal, while the immortal ones want to become mortal. During school days, students always wanted a vacation, but when the vacation dragged off for a long time, they want to get back to school quickly. It's not something new."

He smiled at Walter. "I suppose...but do you ever imagine yourself that way...Being immortal, but wondering...truly...what it means to have a limited life-span?...I have not known that...that state of being mortal...not since I was a child...It seems so far away...and yet I hear about the man you buried, and I wonder...even as an immortal, if I were to lose that...how close am I, a thousand-year-old ghost of a man...to death myself?" he inquired, thoughtfully.

Walter went silent for a moment. He tilted his head to the side, trying to find a good answer. "Well..", he began. ".. this is merely my own theory, but... do you ever wonder, why God named mankind, who are mortal beings, as His most perfect creation?"

Stepping closer, he continued. "There are many other beings that was immortal and served Him, like the angels, for example. Why He don't name them His most perfect creation? Again, this is merely a theory of mine, but I think God named us so, is because our limited time on this world is what pushes us to make every single moment in our short life to be meaningful and memorable. It pushes us to fight, to struggle, to do anything we can. Carter Winnsby

Carter sat in the train listening to the rumbling of the cars, trying to sooth himself. "Jesus Christ on a Crutch." He thought as he stared out the window, twilight filling the car with a dull orange as the sun dove below the horizon. "I'm getting too paranoid. Maybe I should just take a trip out to the country to clear my head, I'll get some reading done and have drinks in the Dove Tail. Not to mention I'll be able to see the lads again, and maybe there'd be some new arrivals to chat up." He smiled at the last thought. Carter had acquired a lot of friends and allies during his time on earth, some were legionnaires that he'd trained with, others were men who he'd served with during his long military career. "God, it'll be great to see them again." He eased up and let the rolling of the car and the rumblings of the tracks take him to his childhood.

Octavius Septima, Londinium, Roman Territory of Britannia

"Again Octavius." The Centurian scolded as he picked the son of the Roman governor out of the dirt. "You need to work on your grip, if you can't keep a sword in hand, you can't stay alive." Octavius picked up his practice gladius and assumed his ready position. Ahead of him, one of his servants, a large, burly Gaul loomed over him, eyes gleaming with the same blood lust of his ancestors. "Alright Rubilex, charge at him again." The Gaul nodded and charged, swinging a large wooden club acting as he intended to kill the young boy. It was his fifth time running this drill, Octavius knew what he had to do. The Gaul swung his club, intending to knock the boy off balance, but Octavius sidestepped and maneuvered behind the Gaul, striking him in the spine with his wooden gladius. "Very good Octavius, we are done for the day." The Centurian said as he packed up his things and left the large estate Octavius's father owned. "Are you alright Rubilex?' Octavius asked his sparing partner. The Gaul smiled. Accepting this answer, Octavius smiled back. "Come on, let's go tell father what I accomplished." The two ran back to the manor where Octavius lived and while his father wouldn't acknowledge some of his lower servants, Octavius would engage in lengthy conversations with them.

Carter Winnsby, London

The train stopped, tearing Carter from his memories. "Time to get going." He said to himself as he stepped onto the platform, heading towards his home.

Eldon, you shut really take a break soon. You've been flying us for almost an hour.
Shut up, I'll be fine.
Whatever you say...

Just then, Eldon began a swift, largely uncontrolled, descent. Still moving with impressive speed, the black dragon (which was about the weight of an elephant) crashed through the roof of a building which, unbeknownst to him, housed the Watchers.
Maybe I was a little tired.
Passed out on the top floor of the HQ was a dragon.

Walter's perpetual grin turned into a smile. Not an ear-to-ear smile, but a soft one. Walter rarely smiled. Grinning all the time, yes, but it was merely a façade, hiding his true expressions. The only true expressions he showed were the anger when someone mentioned his father and mother's death, and the smile when he consider something as amusing or endearing to him.

"You truly are interesting, Hashimoto-san.", he spoke in a soft tone, barely audible.

Just after that, a loud crash echoed from the top floor. His smile still plastered, but his furrowed brows shown enough that what his obvious next move will be. Quickly rushing to and ascending the stairs to the top, he found a black, lizard-like behemoth, with leathery wings and sharp talons, the ones straight out of Saint George's legend.

He had found a black dragon, passed out, lying on their HQ's top floor.

His perpetual grin is back. He was now prodding at the beast with his cane, in an attempt to study, and annoy it enough to wake it up.

The dragon opened one eye, looking around the room. He let out a low, rumbling growl.
this would be so much easier if I could speak.
Eldon attempted to rise, but lay back down due to a lack of space. He let out a puff of smoke at the man poking him and closed his eyes once more.

"But I want to see how he reacts to this!", Walter exclaimed excitedly, still poking at the dragon on different spots; first, its belly, then the ribs, and then the hind legs, before going back to the belly and started it all over again.

"Perhaps it is tired.", Walter nodded. "But still!" That exclamation is followed by another rubbing to the beast's belly , ribs, and hind legs. "Maybe we can ask him."

He immediately stopped rubbing, and moved towards the dragon's head. Opening one lid with his hand, he spoke. "Mister Dragon, rise and shine~"

The dragon's scales began retracting into pale skin with a sickening noise and its bones crunched horrifically as it shrank, its shape changing.

"Well, but it's also a chance to see a live dragon breathing fire directly!", Walter exclaimed. "That is one of the things I wanted the most to see in my life!"

He turned towards Hashimoto. "Hashimoto-san, do you know what kind of Supernatural beings I like the most?" He grinned, wiggling his eyebrows, as if trying to get him to answer. However, he didn't wait for the answer. "It's dragons! They are amazing creatures! How their leathery wings can support their behemoth-sized bodies in the air, how they breathe fire, and how tough their scales are! Everything about them is exciting and interesting!"

Nova Seren wrote:The dragon's scales began retracting into pale skin with a sickening noise and its bones crunched horrifically as it shrank, its shape changing.

Scrunching noise came from behind him prompted him to look back at the dragon - now transformed into a normal-sized human. His face changed. He now donned a confused frown. "A human?", he asked, as if he needed another person to confirm what he saw. "Was that... a shapeshifter?" The corners of his lips twitched, slowly tuned down. If you can somehow see it, his Interest-o-meter, which had previously went crazy since he saw the dragon, was currently dropping. He had seen a lot of shapeshifters, and if this is also another of human capable to turn into beasts, he'd be greatly disappointed.

However, if it's a dragon that can acquire human form, then it's a different story.

The dragon was by now completely replaced by a human, a boy who looked no more than twelve, though he was four years older. "Actually, I am a pure human, but what you just saw was truly a dragon. See I'm a half dragon. My name is Michel Dugal and that was my counterpart, Eldon." He looked at Walter, "and he doesn't breathe fire."

He looked at Walter, "and he doesn't breathe fire."

Ichiru blinked, rather shocked by this. "A human who is...part-dragon?...How odd..." he muttered. He then looked over at Walter and laughed sympathetically, as he saw Walter's face fall slightly, when Michel said he didn't breathe fire.

"Actually, I'm fully human and he's fully dragon, biologically. Half-dragon refers to a dragon being fused with another species. So he really is a dragon, just one who shares a body with me. A little complicated, I know."

"How interesting..." Ichiru answered. "So when did the dragon come to inhabit you?...And how do you switch between forms?" he inquired, curious to see how such a relationship would function.

"My mother's family performed the fusion shortly after I was born and he hatched. He can speak to me in this form, but has no control unless I give it to him. As soon as he gets control, we transform, and the roles are reversed. The transformation really isn't that painful."

"I would hope not. Otherwise it would be a rather miserable existence, wouldn't it? Since being fused with a dragon means you can live just as long as the dragon lives," he reasoned.

"I guess you're right. While the greatest half-dragons lived for centuries, even millennia, I don't expect to last that long. Technically, dragons can't die of age, but half-dragons tend not to last that long, thanks to the weakness of their humans, but nothing really prevents us from living forever..." He trailed off, thinking about it. "Most people would've been a little more afraid to meet a dragon, so who are you?"

He bowed politely to Michel, replying, "Hashimoto Ichiru. But you may call me Ichiru." When he stood again, he answered, "And I suppose I am a bit strange myself. I have been able to see spirits, and to sense spiritual activity, since I was a child, so the idea of seeing a dragon does not faze me. I suppose one would consider me a medium, if I was not actually a Supernatural myself." He laughed at little at the idea, in a way only he understood. He then nodded to Walter. "And this is my friend Walter, the one who was poking you a moment ago."

He smiled cheerfully. "No worries. I'm not good at flying myself," he answered, with a laugh. Like Walter, he had an odd sense of humor that only he seemed to get.

Michel smiled before turning to Walter. "Don't be too disappointed in Eldon. He isn't even close to fully matured yet. Technically, he's just a Juvenile, one stage above Hatchling. His breath weapon won't develop for about another fifty years, then it'll probably be acid. And knowing him, it's probably a good thing that he doesn't have it yet."

Gambler
Fiery dice danced across the Gambler's palm, wisps of flame.
Spinning.
Rolling.
"The chances of life," the Gambler said, as Merlin's and Charlotte's eyes were drawn to the dice.
"Our war... Our time is just beginning."
He closed a fist and Michael's head disappeared, dissipating into black smoke that rose into the sky.
"If you had a chance at power, would you take it? No matter the price?"

Liai
Liai closed her eyes. Humming, she sent her essence to lath onto her two followers, dragging them into her realm.
"Hania Seren,"
"Matthew Watcher..."
"I call to you."
