Charlotte stared in shock, and then blinked, taking the sword.
It felt well-balanced, and was comfortable to wield--almost like it had been made for her.
...Now, if only I knew how swordfighting worked.
She then looked down at the paper, her mind still spinning slightly. She had suspected something when the Gambler had implied it earlier, but... An archangel? Asking me to join some sort of spiritual war?

Charlotte's face was drawn with worry, now. She didn't know what Merlin would think if she accepted the offer.MEGA ULTRA DESTRUCTO LORD TOPIA wrote:"I don't care about power or gifts that someone else will give to me", Kiri said, her expression stern.
"Quartz once said to me Kiri, the only power you need is the one inside of you, having power changes people, especially of that power isn't earned or worked for. I believe in those words."
"Charlotte. I want to save Merlin too, but what do you think he would say if you changed along the way?"
"I don't think the contract or power or whatever it is, will bring us happiness."
Her serious expression softened,
"I mean, all we need is a place to eat."
Her stomach growled loudly.
"I'm really hungry..."
She was growing irritated at Everton and Ichiru's lack of response. Did they not care? Did they just think that they had better things to do? She wanted to physically drag them over. What do you have to do that's more important than bringing Merlin back?! she wanted to scream, but... that could ruin everything, she thought. Better to keep it hidden for now. I'm just concerned because he's my friend. Hah. I'm sure that will be believable, if you have the deductive skills of a rock.Faal Lot Himdah wrote:Void

He'd ignored most of the flowery and slightly bombastic language spouted by the hooded figure who'd chosen to appear in a inappropriately futuristic way for such a magical occasion. Quartz had spent too long droning on about most or at least some of what was said after reading an old tome of history to forget anything. "Of course I'm fucking in to saving Merlin," Everton snapped. "You don't seem to understand how out I've been over the last few hours. I've probably got a concussion from when we went to the Shade's lair, I've been slightly traumatized recently, and I just got into a fight with one of my longest-lasting friends and business partner. Can you at least pretend to understand? I'm not emotionally vacant like Seren, Melody or probably even you." He threw his hands up in the air with frustration.
He looked at Kiri and smiled. Her naivete and persistent confidence was a gracious respite from the recent anger surrounding him and Quartz. Enough of one that he clenched his fists and breathed, trying his best to expel it. Why couldn't he be a little more like Kiri?
"Sorry about the fight, Kiri," he said in a far more calm manner. "I'll sort it out after this. I'm sure there's something I can do to fix it."

Charlotte looked around and commented dryly, "It's like we fell into a fantasy novel."
Except the stakes are higher.
"Come on," she urged, and set off, taking the path. "We need to hurry--You heard what Void said, 'as long as possible'. Void isn't powerful enough to hold the Dream Walker off forever, which means we need to minimize the amount of time that he has to."
Normally she wouldn't dare take command like this, but she reminded herself that Merlin's life was at stake. She would do anything to save him; things she wouldn't do for anyone else.
She'd proved that during her first attempt to save his life. An offer she wouldn't have made under any other circumstances... and yet she'd done it.
For Merlin, she'd do anything.

A few minutes ago
Liai grinned.
"A priest who can't be everywhere at once is quite useless in my mind."
She placed her hands on their foreheads, and all three of them focused. Thus they broke the first of many requirements of godhood.
Now
With a snap of her fingers, The three suddenly looked into he mind of Merlin - that is, the strange forest.
"Here lies your first task - assist your friends in defeating a Dream Walker."
Liai laughed.
"Not as you are, however."
She took their Watcher canes in hand and closed her eyes. With a flash of light she handed them back.
Matthew inspected the cane. Almost accidentally, he brushed a button at the center. The staff hissed, and identical blades around three feet long slid out from each end. The edges pulsed with a purplish blue glow, and Matthew experimentally slammed it into the dimension matter they stood upon. It sliced right into the fabric of the dimension, standing on its own.
"Raw Essence weapons," Liai spoke gravely, a serious expression on her face.
"Some would say god killers. Though not enough to actually kill a god, raw essence can cut anything except other essence. Use it wisely."
Then with a wave she was gone, and the two Watchers had been transported to the forest.
