The thick chakra in the mist is clouding his ability to sense the Blood within Hideyori. Which is how he normally 'sees', since he is blind due to his Kekkei Genkai being over used when he was younger, He would be able to sense the general direction, with more accuracy the closer his target is, if they are bleeding he has pinpoint accuracy to locate them almost anywhere.(In theory anyways).
Imagine a clear picture then rub glue over it and let it dry, He can only see clearly once the glue, or in this case the chakra is removed.

Atticus is very close to the line of secession, and he grew up knowing that one day, he could very well be king of his kingdom, or the highest military adviser to one of this brothers. Perhaps even a royal diplomat to his sister should she become Queen. Atticus was raised in the lap of luxury, while his peaple, unknown to him starved, suffered and died of plague, drought and war. Being instructed in mannerisms, combat, sciences and will manipulation(Chakra), Atticus was groomed for the role of possibly one day leading the Kingdom, as his older brothers were soiled by the blood of war to understand how to bring peace. So, his father turned to making Atticus a new kind of King, one who would forsake war, and finally lead their kingdom out of the 'Night Age' and into a new 'Light Age'.

One day, when Atticus was fifteen, his mother took him outside the castle, to see firsthand what their Kingdom was truly like. The sights almost broke the kind boy, as he saw the dead being dragged off in the streets and burned among piles. The starving begging for any semblance of food, and the weak being stepped on by those who were strong. The smells of the dead and suffering would linger with him for life, as his sheltered world view was shattered before him. His mother had told him that for more than a century the entire continent had been like this, ravaged by war, plague and drought the suffering spread from kingdom to kingdom. And as long as one Kingdom felt it needed the resources of the next to feed its own people, then the conflicts would continue.

But he was also told of another land, far away, where the cultures and people were vastly different. Where rumors of a hero had brought peace to all of his lands, for more than one hundred years. And that somehow, the answer that hero had found, eluded the Western Kingdoms. She then told him, that with his brothers molded by war, and his sister falling ill, that he was the last hope for Olsia. Just minutes after that however, a desperate man attacked them, eager to have the food that was in his mother's pouch. Killing his mother in front of the boy's eyes, the beggar turned murderer ran. Never to be seen again.

After that incident, Atticus became a Knight, determined to find the strength and knowledge that will set his people free from suffering. When he was away from the Kingdom on a mission, his Uncle arranged the death of his father in the castle, and of his brothers on the battlefield. And then, arranged a wedding between his sister and a young King of a rival nation, which had for generations been trying to conquer Olsia. The marriage sealed the alliance, and despite the protests of Atticus, Olsia was absorbed by the rival power, and his sister manipulated into a forced marriage.

But not knowing the manipulations of his uncle, he was convinced by his uncle that this was for the best. And that the assassinations were carried out by criminals, and tat this was the best way to keep the kingdom safe. Only partially appeased though, Atticus swore to find another way, and this Uncle suggested that he travel to that far away land, and seek answers there. Following the supposed sage advice of his uncle, Atticus traveled to that distance land, not knowing that he was supposed to never return.

Goals: To find the answer and strength to bring peace to his kingdom, that the Shinobi nations had accomplished thoough Naruto and the 'Long Peace'.

Strengths:
-Atticus possesses 'Will of Flames' or 'Fire Nature' Chakra naturally. But not known to him, he also commands 'Will of Thunder' or 'Lightning Nature' Chakra. Atticus is able to channel the Fire Nature Chakra through his weapons and armor, vastly increasing his damage output and causing wide area of affect damage

-Kenjutsu or Swordsmanship, Atticus is very skilled in sword combat, but his style is foreign to anything that is known in the Shinobi world, that creates an advantage as many dont know how to combat it. Rather than rely on speed or precision he uses his armor to ward off ninjutsu and taijutsu in order to get in close and use his overbearing sword and shield to their full potential.

-Full Armor, this offers protection that is capable of warding off any low level jutsu and resistant to higher level ones. Making him difficult to harm in battle.

Weaknesses:
-Genjutsu, that does not rely on eye sight(Helmet protects him from ocular Genjutsu) is a foreign tactic to him, and akin to magic.

-Knowledge of Chakra in his Kingdom is far behind that of the Shinobi Nations, so he does not know how to properly harness its potential and properties. Using them to enhance his equipment is all he knows how to do.

-Slow Speed, because of his armor, he is a slow target, unless mounted on his trusty steed Mara.

I just read the IC, and I kinda of understand why some of the players here brought up the OP Genin. I mean, we have Genin using Dust Release, Crescent Moon Dance(The sword technique Hayate used) A chidori on page one or two I think. And despite Naruto constantly spamming it, Shadow clone Jutsu is a Jonin level technique.

The rookie 9 had nowhere near that level of talent.
-Naruto started off weak, only notable jutsu was Shadow Clone
-Sakura was extremely basic with great chakra control
-Sasuke was a genius, but beyond mastering all of the family techniques, and several of his clan's famous jutsu, he still needed to work for the Sharingan and Chidori

So Sasuke was the only skilled one here.

-Ino was barely better than Saukra in skill, with the family mind transfer jutsu
-Shikamaru was barely noteworthy, and had it not been for his vast intelligence he would be rather mediocre.
-Choji was a good tank, but not much else

This Team was only good when working in unison.

-Kiba was a beast in Taijutsu
-Shino was a calculating opponent with his bugs
-Hinata was quite weak during the Chunin Exams

Overall, this team was possibly the best rounded among the rookies. Debatable though with Ino-Shika-cho.

And then the best team overall, Guy's had a extra year of preperation and had Neji on that team, and Rock Lee who could open several of the 8 inner gates.


I am not complaining, as most of us come from IJ and power creep is a tradition there, but I feel like the Genin here by page 5 could wipe the floor with the Konoha 12.
