Well, this a thing of personal preference then, because I'm sick of modern and sci-fi games, like most of the gaming community seems to be, judging by the sales of Infinite Warfare.

And BF1 has amazing graphics, a really nice although short campaign, and a cool multiplayer.

I don`t see the originality all of you are talking about.
I only saw BF4/3 with no choppers and different looking weaponry, soldiers and vehicles. Felt and played pretty much the same though.

What were you expecting? A completely new play style?

It's true that DICE could have been much more realistic, but let's face it, realism in WW1 is boring. Static trench warfare would have been boring. So what they tried to do is to keep a similar playstyle in the context of WW1. But you can feel the difference. The weaponry isn't only different looking, it is different. You can feel that they are old weapons from the way they handle the,, even if I wished for BF1 to contain more WW1 weapons instead of all those prototypes. You have different types of tanks. The air combat is completely changed. The melee was made much more WW1 like.

Air Combat is the one point I`d actually concede.
Tanks and Weapons though...
I would`ve wished the developers had taken some advice from the Heroes & Generals Dev Team concerning their weapons.
Then there is all the massively important stuff missing in BF1.
And the ultra bad portrayal of WW1 Warfare and Battles in the Campaign.
And all of the uniforms were not real. They pieced together pieces of real uniforms into surreal uniforms.

In the end, let`s just agree that the developers didn`t want to alienate their modern playerbase and prioritized fun over realistic portrayal.

(Though it really fucks me up that only one class gets a Bolt Action Rifle.)

If you want a more realistic WW1 game, choose Verdun. BF1 was never supposed to be fully realistic. It was simply supposed to be a BF game set in WW1, and DICE nailed that.

Sadly, Verdun is a bugged and underpopulated game...

Question, does Larion have his power sword on him? it's a great asset in his combat...

Difficult to say. We were only allowed to have standard Tau equipment with us, at least that's what the OP told us. But then, certain characters did take their swords in the simulation. However, those are normal swords. It depends on what this power sword is exactly.

A power sword is a blade that is sheathed in a lethal corona of disruptive energy. This energy field allows the blade to carve through flesh, bone and most forms of armour plate alike, making a Power Sword a highly effective close combat weapon.

Yep, difficult to say. I'd say that yes, but don't make him run around cutting people. You have to remember that laser weapons can kill people very easily, and going all Jedi blocking lasers would be too much.

But my decision is temporary, Tophat will decide if such a sword will be allowed. The swords that my character used are simply made from Veranium, a really dark colored metal that is highly resistant and light, and can at least in theory, cut through a lot of things.

Well... Larion would need his shield as defense against lasers and some heavy stuff but you know, this kind of combat isn't very much indoctrinated into Tau fighting style so... yeah, and Larion is simply a common knight he isn't going to deflect everything with a sword (that's only for more elite orders) he may deflect one out of thirty shots, in which case it's a bad idea. The sword is just to cut down enemies at this point

He would most likely end up dead pretty soon like that, because the player are surrounded by laser fire and fired upon with mortars.

Yup... Thaitum has a different military doctrine but is still well equipped in performing mobile warfare (pretty much the Tau way of fighting). I guess at this point I'll just settle with the standard stuff... maybe (like just for this moment or something, not like trying go overboard with anything... cause that's no fun)

He has a habit of disappearing for periods of time, but I'll hit him with a TG to tell him that we are moving on.

It's nice to see people post. I'm really improvising here, but hey, it's better than not posting at all.

I'm still all for the idea of foreign academies though.

Pretty old one, and I don't think that it initially belonged to me. Nevertheless, it would have allowed players to go in exchanges in foreign academies so to speak, in academies in the countries of the students.

We had and probably still have several people around here who find it interesting, and me and Elysia pushed out some ideas about our national academies.

I think I got the idea first though I`m not sure about it.
Wasn`t actually an idea though.
I think I simply complained about how much different and less fun Exilvanian Academies would be, compared to the Tophat Academy.
