[MEGA ULTRA DESTRUCTO LORD TOPIA]

Hi guys, i apologize for taking so long on this but quite a few things popped up that needed... to be attended to. Well anyway here is my writing prompt.

Breathing hard against the crisp morning air I looked over my shoulder. The street was empty. I had lost it. The past few hours of running felt like they had passed by in a matter of seconds. My friends and I had been walking back from a party down at the west end when it happened. The rain the clouds had held in began to drip down on our heads, and before we knew it, it was bucketing. We thought that making it back home would be faster if we took the route through the city dump. We were wrong.

As we trudged along through the dump, my friend Tim lagged behind us, slowing down each step he took.
Then… We heard his voice, incredibly strained he desperately gasped,
(Entered)“Help”. (Entered)
We all turned as Tim fell face first into the mud. Philip laughed hysterically as he stared at the motionless figure lying in the mud. I rushed forward, grabbed Tim by the arm, and lifted him up. Philip’s laugh stopped abruptly and my eyes bulged in terror.
I let go of Tim’s arm, and quickly scrambled away.
I sat frozen in the mud. All my attention was on Tim. I watched in horror as he slowly got onto his feet and turned to face me. I no longer recognised him the horrific mess in front of me. The face I saw was not the face of my friend. The skin had been burnt away, his hair had been reduced to a crisp and his eyes were black marbles, too large to be human. Even as We watched sections of his skin flake and sizzle, disappearing in red embers. I opened my mouth to scream, but no sound came out.
The thing stared at me intently, standing completely still. It began to slowly open its mouth, an attempt, I realised, to mimic me. The thing’s lips tore and blood began to run freely down its face and wash into its mouth. It froze.
The thing produced an elongated tongue from its mouth and, licked the blood from its face. Its eyes widened in bliss and its face contorted into a smile, revealing each and every one of its sickly looking teeth, I jumped as I felt a hand clasp around my shoulder pulling me to my feet, looking up I saw that it was Philip. His face was pale and he looked as if he were going to throw up.
“Come on!” he said, voice quivering, “we have to get out of here”. We both took off in a sprint.

Philip leaned against the brick wall of the alley way, breaths coming in short ragged gasps. “What was that?” he asked me.
“How should I know?” I gasped back at him, ducking behind the corner.
“Tim…” Philip murmured sliding onto the alleyway floor, “oh god Tim”.
I shifted over to comfort him, but a thump stopped me dead in my tracks. We turned to look towards the end of the alleyway, squinting we tried to make out what was concealed in the black shadow. We heard footsteps, slow and unnatural. The footsteps came closer, heading straight for us. And the face that emerged was out of a nightmare.
I skidded along the corner of the road and kept on running, from behind me I heard a crash followed by the sounds of doglike panting. I looked back. The thing that was chasing me had knocked over the dumpsters by the side of the road and was bounding towards me on all fours like some kind of skinny, elongated, hairless dog. I was running as hard as I could but the thing was gaining steadily, it would have me in no time. I ran past abandoned cafes and diners, my converses slapping the wet concrete and headed towards the police station. They would know what to do.
Philip fell to his knees. He couldn’t run anymore, his body was at its limit. The adrenaline had faded away leaving him gasping in pain at the burning in his side. He lifted his hand up to his left side and gagged as a small chunk of his meat came away splattering blood across the pavement. The pain was incredible, it was like nothing he had felt before. He attempted to stand but fell to his knees, screaming in agony. From behind he heard the scrape of metal against the concrete, slowly moving toward him. He tried to move but his body had stopped responding. A sudden blanket of panic settled on him as he realised that he was going to die. The scraping sound had stopped replaced by a series of panting and grunting. Philip felt his body jerk forward and his vision darkened, blood gurgled and ran freely out his mouth. He looked down and saw what resembled an arm protruding from his chest covered in blood. His blood. The arm blurred and sent him careening away into a nearby wall, leaving a splatter of blood in his wake. The thing made its way towards him, its unnaturally long arms dragging across the road. He was going to die.

I silently crept through the police stations’ seemingly endlessly hallways, there had to be someone here, anyone. A scream echoed and bounced against the walls, drifting into my ears. I was too late. The creatures over the course of the night had crawled seemingly into every building and house in the city. On my way to the police station I had seen countless people slumped against walls, their blood painted across the alleyways. Hundreds of bodies had littered the streets, lying in pools of blood. Not a single one of the creatures was to be seen.
I heard the click clack of one of the things advancing steadily towards my corridor. I retreated down the corridor and hid in one of the many adjacent rooms, closing and locking the door as I did so. I pressed myself up against the wall next to the door and held my breath. The sound of the things footsteps came closer and closer, eventually passing my room. I let out my breath in relief and the thing stopped. I saw its moonlit silhouette looming over the window of my door. I clamped my eyes together and said my prayers. The sound of a gunshot rang out next to me. Followed by another and another. I heard and felt the thump as the thing hit the ground, followed by the sound of a man barking out orders. Someone hammered on the door, ordering me to come out. I unsteadily got to my feet and unlocked the door.
It slammed open and I was pushed to the ground as men in black combat armor flooded into the room. I was pushed face first to the ground as one of the main checked my body for weapons, all the while pointing a big looking gun to my head. Once he was satisfied that I had no weapons he rolled me over and flashed a bright light into my eyes. I squinted as my eyes tried to adjust to the brightness. He suddenly hauled me to my feet.
“He’s clean!” he shouted to his comrades.
“Good! Now let’s get him out of here!” responded a soldier standing outside of the room. People with masks over their face and dressed in white rushed into the room. Two of them gently lifted my arms around their shoulders and carried me out of the room. There were at least twenty soldiers in the hallway, all armed with rifles and looking alert. The paramedics hurriedly carried me down the hallway and up a nearby flight of stairs. Soldiers were everywhere, crouched along corners or looking out the windows for movement. We continued up seven flights of stairs and burst out onto the rooftop where the blinding spotlights were trained. The sound was deafening, there was a helicopter waiting on the rooftop with four more hovering nearby. I was hauled into the helicopter and strapped in watching in awe as we began our ascent. The soldiers on the rooftop below began to move back into the building. I turned and looked around the helicopter and saw that there were more people, all of them were looking at me in silence until one of them spoke out.
“It’s okay, you’re safe now.” He smiled at me and I began to cry.
