There are around 10,000 Americans moving there every year at present. At the current rate, there would be at the very least around 210,000 additional American immigrants in the 21 years since then. If you add that to the original figure, that's around 500,000. With economic turmoil in your version of the US, the number would probably be higher (perhaps around 600-750,000).

So there are plenty of people moving to Canada, and you have been proven wrong once again.
