No, but nuclear blasts emit an EMP pulse and radiation.

Which I doubt you have any.

What tree do they grow from?

Youbsaid something about Vertibirds dropping nukes in my troops. I said that the EMP emitted by such bombs would cripple the Birds and cause them to crash, okay?

Are we all together on the same page now?

So your going to shoot down vertibirds and their nuclear engines would cause the EMP and radiation to make a chain reaction?

Hmm... I wonder what sort of tactics the Legion employs.

Hopefully it's one of those hide-bound Roman Squares that don't actually work against guys with breechloading rifles.

Verttibirds drop fatman nukes, a type of tactical nuke. In FO3 they seem fine dropping them on Talon Company.

Tactical bombings don't need nukes. Just have a large amount of explosives packed in a payload.

Okay?

That simple.

Period.

Could work if they had a tough enough shield.

Refer above on how Vertibirds aren't effected by their payload.

Have you seen the Long 15? Crashed Vertibirds, after you nuke it.

That was an ICBM. Mini-nukes would have a much smaller yield that would be not effect by some electronics like Vertabirds.

Whatever fine. Sorry I tried to actually apply real life science.

But that's OP of you can nuke my whole army without me having a counter to it, or there being a consequence for it.

I know, i know but i think we have up real life science when we decided the Hoover Dam hasn't clapped yet.

Nukes are rare. It will mostly be a conventional payload, so don't worry no massacre. .

Shoot a lot. Legion's technology policy doesn't give me a lot of options.

You should have missile launchers. Vertabirds have nuclear engines, shoot one down and a reaction will occur. You have howitzers and that can take down power armor troops from over the Colorado. You could make friends with other factions to see if you can get some means of getting high-grade emp and probably tie some to artillery and start lobbing pulse shells at the Vertabird in Hoover Dam before the war.

Actually, Hoover Dam lasting this long is to be expected IRL. The Dam was built so securely that it can be expected to last centuries without any maintenance.

Of course, those delicate electronics inside are another question...

Time to apply actual science to the nuke question.

Yes nukes generate EMP which would disable most conventional electronics; however military vehicles designed to drop a nuclear payload would feature certain measures to protect their systems from harm. I mean full sized conventional nukes were carried in planes for decades during the Cold War, ICBMs are a fairly recent bit of tech by our standards.

Now I know in game when you nuke the Long 15 that you see loads of crashed vertibirds, but really what do you expect? An ICBM payload is capable of downing a fleet of aircraft even without factoring in the EMP; the sheer heat generated, the shockwave and not to mention the displacement of air would be enough to bring down all but the very toughest of aircraft - but then if we were applying real science vertibirds that close to the hypocenter of the blast would have been mostly disintegrated anyway and wouldn't leave wrecks like those seen in the Long 15, so when one applies science, it seems like their presence was a design/story element rather than one of realism.

How the Legion deals with Vertibirds is simple; their Primes (IIRC) have anti-material rifles, which were designed to destroy lightly-armoured vehicles, like the Vertibird.

The other option is you destroy them while they're on the ground in a surprise assault on McCarran.
