Brief History: Since any living creature has ever existed the Sons of Horus have existed to ferry souls to there final resting place. It started with humans and there short lifespan, later it would go on to encompass the goblins, the orcs, merpeople, ents, and even elves. Nothing is immune to death, not all accept it. The Sons of Horus are grave keepers, they Honor the dead and are heralds of respect. They ensure the bodies are preserved peacefully to that nations customes. The sons of Horus commit the bodies soul in death based on there dreads to Horus for there final judgement.
The Sons have always existed and unlike the name implies it allows women as well, death knows no gender all are equal in death. It is the great equalizer, the sons of Horus can be found anywhere there is a cemetery, in every major, minor or anything between if there are people who die the Sons of Horus will not be far behind. However unlike most the sons ask if they wil be allowed to preserve the dead, they assure the city and occupants that is its a way to honor he dead not betray there God, Horus as they portray him is simply the bridge into the next world that all must pass through to reach the resting place there God has designed for them.
The sons of Horus who have accepted the deal of there God are immune to the effects of the world. They are immune to starvation, to thirst, to some it is the ultimate escape form death himself, to work for him. However one must first prove himself worth to earn the title of herald of Horus. The Ferry men or as many have come to call them The Eight, consisting of every race free of prejudice and willing to bury the dead of any of there brothers or sister there can be no intolerance in death. All are made one, in this way the eternal cycle continues and the dead are honored.
The sons of Horus as well are able to summon his servants to protect themselves. Even if it is not needed it's often used to silence non-believers. The Sons would never attack openly but will not hesitate if continually threatened. There motto, "Let us enter unto the gate of our lord, and meet the fates of our makers whole and pure." This is in transition from life to death cleansing the body for burial, cremation, or however the race decides to honor there dead.
Geographical area and key features: Can be found all over often in creepy forests and especially cemeteries or burial tombs anything used to bury the dead
Map Claim: some place with a spooky wood with dead trees everywhere, either that or some place near a volcano. I'm the end it's not a military structure so they don't really have a border
Other details: the structure of the government goes like this
Herald of the Lord- the top of the food chain these are the Eight divine one from each race, they go about blessing lands and generally ferrying souls often millions as a time to the underworld or Krazura which in the language of the divine means "Last steps" and we'll often say your going to your Krazura or your last steps. These men or women control all members of there races cemeteries. They also receive orders from Horus himself as to what to do or where to go.
Prohet of the Dead- the second in command unlike the Heralds they are stationary taking control of a single Cemetary and overseeing it making sure all the bodies are kept in good condition, or if they where cremated that the ash is kept dry that sort of thing. They also preach about what has happen to there relatives and how if they have obeyed there gods moral code then he will allow them to pass one of the eight gates he controls. These gates allow the good to pass throught while the evil are tortured for all eternity.
The Lords acolytes- Learned scholars these are the ones who study to become prohets, they can be found doing more manual labor like moving dead bodies around here or there and keeping things running they do there share, but they are not grunts and are not to be confused with repenters.
Repeaters- Servents of the Cemetary or church or whatever is in the region these are normally criminals who want to make sure they aren't left behind and tortured when they die. These men and women are the Grunts who do all of the back breaking labour around the Cemetary, digging and filling holes, changing pots, ect. This as well as what there patron God commands to enter into there realm once they die.
Interesting culture: The sons of hours are equal opportunity anyone can join of any race of any gender, "Death knowns no gender nor race and all must come into his warm embrace" as some scholars will quote from the Lord book of the dead. As well most who join the ranks of the Sons tend to be wizards or other magically enclined indivuals hoping to learn necromancy, most learn very quickly that it only upset there God and they are swiftly punished. Those who receive the blessings of Horus can expect a very very long and very prosperous life.
Is it ok if I add more later this is basically the gist of it all
