Yes. I am playing as a nation that is a Hellenised mostly Arab and Mongol nation that is mostly Greek Orthodox with some Muslim areas as well. There will be a few Greeks and Armenians, but now many. And there will be Kurds, Azeris and Iranic peoples in some of the southeastern areas as well.

Population: 293 million
Ethnicities: A range of East Africans live within the borders of the Union. The Oromo ethnic group is by the largest by far. However, Somali, Amharic, and other East African demographics are all given equal rights.

Culture: Oromo culture used to be imposed on the other demographics, and over time the groups were converted to the Oromo culture. The culture later spread through the globe through the massive trade fleet operated by the former empire. However, all of that was brought to all brutal halt with the communist revolution after the war with the Songhai Empire. Oromo cultural artifacts were destroyed on the spot, and that set the country's culture back decades, if not centuries.

Religion: The Union is completely secular, and the church has been completely shut out of politics. The church used to dominate the country during former Imperial times, however the revolution changed all that. All former officials were killed or imprisoned with the support of the workers, however Christianity still retains siginificant influence in daily life, with most people going to church.

Army: 5,000,000 active soldiers, 10,000,000 reserves. The East African Red Army is the largest army in the world. Conscription is mandatory for both genders. The army relies on quantity over quality tactics, and uses their superior numbers to overwhelm an enemy position, and breakthrough regardless of casualties. The one year of training includes political indoctrination, mountain combat, and launching en masse assaults. The army's equipment emphasizes saturation over precision. The army is on average poorly equipped with crudely made weapons, and uses en masse assaults. One exception is the artillery which are extremely well built, mostly due to them borrowing technology from the navy.
For the most part the army is poorly armed, and equipped for offensive missions however well suited for defensive operations.

Navy: The navy on the other hand is the opposite of the army, and it is how the DPUE launches its power across the globe. The navy is prioritized over the army, and all the other branches of the armed forces. The navy The navy emphasizes quality over quantity. Most of the ships are very well built, and the battleships/dreadnoughts of the navy are considered the pinnacles of naval engineering. The navy is in the process of developing an "Aircraft Carrying Battleship", which is a very large dreadnought that is capable of carrying aircraft. The ships of the fleet know no equal in the entire world, whether it be firepower, protection, or speed. The fleet is organized into three fleets, the Red Sea Fleet, the Indian Ocean Fleet, and the Overseas fleet. The final of which operates as a rapid reaction force that serves mostly in South America. The fleet's main shipyard is located in Eritrea where all of the Union's ships are built.

Air Force: Like the navy quality is preferred over quantity. Most Red Air Force planes are very well built though no where as the Red Navy in terms of numbers or funding. The air force is made out of a relatively small number of well made aircraft. Until 1986 it was very underfunded, and made up a few old random planes thrown in here, and there. But, recently since the possibility of creating an "Aircraft Carrying Battleship", the Air Force got enough funding to match the navy, at the expense of the army. The planes are well crafted masterpieces spread out through out the globe.

Economic Strength: The DPUE economy is a giant industrial hulk. The industry knows no equal in the entire world except the Songhai Empire, and is capable of churning out the best steel in the entire world. Over 8000 factories litter the country. The DPUE economy has one vital weakness however, it relies a lot on outside countries for food, having most of the Union covered in desert. Most of the people outside of the original borders of the Ethiopian Empire, Eritrea, and Ethiopia are only moderately well off. That forces the DPUE into friendly relations with their neighbors to the north otherwise the country would starve.

Infrastructure: The Union is very developed outside of the Somalia region. The railroads litter most of the country excluding Somalia, and most of the colonies. Houses are made out of concrete, and the capital is a concrete, and steel jungle. The Somalia region is undeveloped outside the coast, which is heavily developed, and home to many harbors. A super highway for carriages runs throughout the country as well. Eritrea, and Ethiopia are considered the home provinces. These provinces get more funding for all their projects, as a result they the administrative centers of the Union.

Scientific Research and Development:The Research and Development is focused mostly on the ships, and artillery with a bit of money devote to small arms. However, due to the close proximity to the Songhai Empire, and constant skirmishes between the technologically superior Songhai Empire, the country was able to reverse engineer a great deal of technology from the Songhai Empire, such as the steam engine which was upgraded by the former empire. Another invention stolen from the Songhainese was the Gatling gun. However, the exchange was mutual as the Songhai Empire stole much of the artillery, and ship building technology from the Union.

History: Due to xenophobic attitude of the Ethiopian Empire, and most of its neighbors during the start of the Bubonic plague, the country was mostly spared from the deadly disease. Save a few minor outbreaks, which were quickly contained. Since, that period of time the Ethiopians started building fine ships which were meant to circumvent the entire world. With lightning speed the Empire quickly subdued many of its neighbors to create a vast Empire stretching from Eritrea to the Eastern Congo. The Ethiopian Empire being the last bastion of Christianity developed a "Kill or Be Killed" mentality that dominates to this day. The Empire prioritized a first strike initiative due to paranoid distrust of their neighbors.

Hearing news, of the Songhai expedition, the Ethiopian Empire not to be outdone, completed the first voyage across the entire world, and back to the port of Mogadishu. During the journey the famous Ethiopian admiral Abba Babis settles a small colony on the coast of South America far away from the rumored Songhainese colony. During the voyage the admiral also established the colonies of Hong Kong, Macau, and Bahrain to give the Empire global coverage, through the pen, and the sword. At first using diplomacy before resorting to brutal force. Which infuriated the Songhai Empire, and the relationship fell to a new low.

The Ethiopian Empire was the second nation to embrace the industrial revolution. The monarchy was determined on building an industrial base capable enough to match the Songhainese to make sure that Songhai did not have a hegemony across the entire globe. The Ethiopians for some reason could never catch up to the Songhai in terms of research outside of shipbuilding, and artillery tech. So the Ethiopians decided to establish a large spy network inside the Songhai research departments that would give the Ethiopians technological parity over the Songhainese. However, the spy network got very little at first, with only a few minor insignificant technologies stolen, however the Ethiopians soon had a breakthrough.

A spy by the name of Hames Babla, is widely considered the most successful in the history of Ethiopia if not the entire world. Babla was able to gain the trust of the great Songhai inventor, and became great friends with him. His friendship also allowed him into the secret of the steam engine, which he promptly made a note of inside his notebook. However, Babla was not done there he spent the next 10 years inside the Songhai Empire, and stole a plethora of Songhai technology, before slipping aboard a ship one night, faking his death by drowning, and escaping back to his homeland, Ethiopia.

At this point things were not going well for the Empire. most of the country was in famine. Everybody was starving to death, and poverty was widespread. Corruption ruled the halls of Abbis Ababa, and the people were angry, however the stolen tech changed all of that. Ethiopian soon was able to become the second largest economy in the entire world, however still a fair bit away from the Songhai Empire.

The new technology acquired the Empire were kept secret, and the Ethiopian were careful not to be caught. Since, Ethiopian industry was plentiful, but crude outside the navy at the time. The stolen technology was modified to become easily mass produced by the Empire, while the Steam Engine was perfected by the Ethiopian shipbuilding industry. While the Songhai had experienced a golden age, the Empire was distrustful, and built up a massive army, and finally the inevitable happened.

The Songhai Empire attacked the Ethiopian Empire, however they were not prepared for the well built army. The Ethiopians decided the best way to defeat the Songhai was to bribe the Kongo to betray them. The Ethiopians negotiated an alliance between the Kongo, and Ethiopia. The pivotal battle was set when one million Ethiopians, fighting against 200,000 Songhainese, and hundreds of thousands more Kongo soldiers. During the heat of the battle when the Songhai seemed like they were about to win, the signal was giving, and the plot devised by the Kongo, and Ethiopia was set into motion. All of a sudden Kongo soldiers started firing on the expecting Songhainese, and killing their vulnerable weapons crews. All of a sudden the tide had turned to a Songhainese total defeat. The Songhainese were defeated for the first time in recent history. And, soon a favorable treaty was signed, giving Ethiopia, and the Kongo a bunch of land in Central Africa.

Ethiopia, and the Kongo soon split the land among themselves, and developed good relations. Ethiopia was rapidly catching up to the Songhai empire however, things were not to last.

In 1984 a communist revolution brutally overthrew the monarchy, and brought in a government inspired by the writings of a surviving European, called class struggle. Thus, a communist state was created, and the country's GDP shrunk by five percent for three consecutive putting them behind the Songhai. However, the new communist government promised a new policy, that the country will not attack unless, it or its allies have been attacked. Soon the GDP rebounded, and it is projected to catch up to Songhai in the year 2029. It is time for a new dawn of Ethiopia.
