All of Europe was killed off, except for some northern countries. You can be a Belgian country, a Zulu one, a Kongo one, probably a Moroccan one, and Arab ones.

Yes. You could probably get some of the Netherlands and France too. You'd be a minor power, lagging behind Africa Arabia and Asia economically, culturally, and military. But yes.

Are Turkey and/or parts of Greece, Armenia, Lebanon, Georgia or Syria available?

I could deal with that. Perhaps people in Cappadocia or remote areas could have survived?
Could I do a Hellenised Christian mostly-Arab state in the untaken parts of Greece, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon and Armenia?

Why? It was certainly better than the Ottoman Empire.
Apart from the religion and the more cruelty displayed by the Ottoman Empire, they were similar. Although I meant studying it, mostly. I cannot find its appeal and, like most of European medieval history, I despise it.

That's the opposite of me. I love European medieval history. The Byzantines slow but sure decay into failure is kinda sad, but interesting.

When the plague hit China in 1300, Vietnam quickly grabbed its client states (as territory) Laos and Cambodia and closed the borders (As one of the first nations to regulate immigration (I think)). This enabled Vietnam to develop while the world of Asia and Europe burned.
In 1592, Vietnamese Explorer Bảo Ngô sailed east for a quicker way to Africa. What he discovered, however, was Panama (He thought it was an island of the coast of Africa). He set up a colony there, sailed back to Vietnam, and reported his findings to the government. The King ordered for government support to Bảo so he could discover more. He went back, and sailed north. He then discovered Northwest Florida (Gulf Coast). The government begin sending more explorers east, and the colonies of Vietnam are founded.
Bảo Ngô wrote a book about his findings in 1605 and released it internationally (Exported to other countries). WIP

I love contemporary and modern history. From the end of the 18th Century and onwards. As for the Byzantines, I can't say I am quite sad. Maybe because of negative connotations
