It would be mostly just a symbol to the people to show what they can do together. I thought i should ask you before putting that in my app.

If Germany and their $7 trillion economy can pull a viable space program off, why can't California and its $8.9 trillion economy?
(hint, hint: you should reduce California's GDP)

No, we've discussed this, your nation is wicked unstable, and Holland, and several nations at building a starship, only the major powers can do it not their own

Desalination, I'm guessing. California is bright enough for decent-ish solar power, which they can then use for seawater desalination.
Of course, solar power => seawater desalination is ridiculously expensive, but I don't see a viable alternative that they can pull off.

And nuclear and wind power.
Basically the reason Cali survived better than most countries is that they started on fiend own early. The USA basically said "fuck you" and let them take care of their own problems in the 2020s. By the time their GLORIOUS LEADER PRESIDENT FOR LIFE fixed the drought problems (socialism, rapid nuclear power plant building, cover the Mojave in panels, vertical farms and rail systems instead of cars) the USA was too battered by riots to get them back. Now Cali didn't simply sail out of the depression, but they were smart and their super-rich president basically spent the vast majority of his funds to make California better.

That still isn't enough to make California into a superpower.
The Nordic States has enough natural resources to basically not be affected by any resource crisis, ever, but our economy didn't even triple.
Your GDP has more than quadrupled. Whaaaaaat?
