Brief Description of your Economy: Germany has the most powerful economy in all of Eurasia, with a free market capitalist economic system, the private sector is free to create a huge number of jobs and goods to supply both Germany and the greater world. History: Simply put, the Petrodollar crisis hit Germany hard, although the Energiewende reforms allowed Germany to keep the lights on, the way it hurt the global economy badly hurt German and German trade in the private sector, causing a massive reduction in collected revenue, and as people saw their pensions go away and instability in the economy, people started to panic, at first causing bank runs, when people discovered they couldnt even with draw enough Euros to feed their families, the public grew enraged and took their anger out in true populist style against the Rich upper class and the government. Things got really bad, when the Government pretty much disappeared for a couple of days in Berlin and other major cities as the top levels of the Government fled in fear of their lives and the safety of their families. The military junta promised and then delivered elections six months later, the law and order esque party came to power and they tried to fix the situation, and for about a year it worked, although most people were still in poverty as the global situation still sucked.

Around this time, as Germany was still trying to fix its own problems war broke out in the East, at first doing nothing until the Baltic's were invaded by Russia, at that point sending in thousands of German soldiers. This scarred and glorified another five years of German history, as tens of thousands of previously unemployed young men went off to fight Russia as their great grandfathers did 80 years ago, but in different circumstances. A worn out and tired Germany won along with its Eastern friends against the Russian bear, taking out the government in Moscow and replacing it with a loyal puppet type one. Also, huge swaths of historical land turned over to Germany, and naturally the Russians and Poles were forces out back to their historical boundaries and the land repopulated by returning soldiers families owing to a population boom as soldiers started to return from the war creating families. For the first time in ten years, things were looking up even with the dissolution of the EU, the Euro was essentially transferred over, reprinted and called the Mark, while the rest of Europe started to go back into crisis, Germany just did its best to ride it out, claiming a right to do so given all they had done to save Europe from Putin. It wasn't until the next round of elections that the German people showed off their re-found pride and patriotism that they voted for the patriotic right wing AfD party. Few homes even were powered by fossil fuels, instead using stocked up wind and solar reserve batteries during the winter.

Also, the new right wing party advocated that Germany, now on the rise and with a secure financial situation go and help her neighbors, so they did, especially Austria. This also allowed Germany to push her goods across Europe, selling consumer goods to a broken and weak Europe at cheap prices, and keeping a tight reign on Russia at the same time.

And that's where we leave off, a German superpower status, puppeting of Russia, and extremely close ties with Austria.

History:

After the terror of the Second World War, the (then) five States of Northern Europe joined together in the Nordic Council, their first sincere efforts at the creation of a multinational co-operation effort. Despite hindrances caused by the United States, the European Union, and the unique situation of the Cold War, more and more power was invested in the Nordic Council, integrating these five States. After the Cold War, in the interests of improving relations with the Baltic States, the Nordic Council accepted the three Baltic States as observers.

Capital flowed this way and that, and the Nordic States, standing on the bedrock of social stability and a constructive government, prospered to a degree unheard of in the last century. By 2018, the Nordic area counted itself among the richest regions of the world.

The crisis then came.

With the dissolution of the European Union, the war of Russian aggression and the resulting economic recession, the Nordic States realized that the protection of other western states meant nothing in a real crisis. Denmark, Norway, and Iceland left NATO in the late 2020s as a result. The recession was harsh, and Nordic societies began to drop in a downward cycle as a result of unfavorable economic, diplomatic, and social conditions.

It was 2032, in the midst of the crisis, when representatives of the five members of the Nordic Council and its three observers gathered in Copenhagen for emergency conferences. Realizing the need for their cooperation, as they could no longer count on either the European Union or NATO, the nations began discussing a united future under the Council. The result of this conference were several.

First, responsibility over vital international matters such as foreign policy, monetary policy, and regional defense was to be transferred to the Nordic Council. This new bloc was to be called the Confederation of the Nordic States. Second, the observer states had to decide - there and then - whether to unify with the Nordic States under the Council, or whether to leave the Nordic Council and its protection. Estonia chose the former, while Latvia and Lithuania chose the latter. Third, the Council was given temporary emergency powers to restore stability in the newly-created Confederation.

The Nordic Confederation then began to recover from the crisis. Due to resource shortages just about everywhere, the natural resources which the Nordic Confederation had in abundance could now be sold at a premium. This revenue fueled the recovery of the Nordic recoveries, and perhaps the single largest reason why the Nordic States recovered so early from the decades of crisis that many countries were still suffering from.

With a booming economy came a stable society. The minority groups were encouraged to integrate, and the Nordic Confederation stopped accepting immigrants for highly unstable areas, opting to take in West Slavic and Hungarian refugees and immigrants instead. All this culminated in a stable society. The 2047 Copenhagen Riots was the last uncontrolled riot. Peace was now finally beginning to return.

The year is now 2055. The Nordic people's still suffer from the aftershocks of the period of turbulence they underwent, and the unstable diplomatic conditions that kept Nordic diplomats and corporations permanently confused. But now, things are finally starting to look up again. Now, the Nordic people have hope that the future will be better.
