The Roman Senate is practically the government of the Roman Empire. Even if theoretically the Emperor should be the supreme power in the state, right now, the senate has it, a thing I want to change soon with Renovatio Imperii.The Senate has the power to block the Emperor's decisions.

Right now, there are two, groups of senators. Somehow equivalent to the foreign political parties. The majority, the Conservators, and the Liberals. There are 300 Senators, elected once every 5 years. Each province elects 15 senators.

The Senate has some influence, but it declined in the last 20 years, as its conservative policies aren't exactly appreciated.
