Exactly thats why I recommended you retain 13 million than dropping to 9.5 actually perhaps you should up to 15 million, then I believe Israel could remain at 8 million.

Why should I drop? I would have around 13 million following the real life. This is an alternative history.

And I think if Russia joins the alliance Imperium Romanum is initiating, it could be a big deal. Including South America or East Asia would be even bigger. :)

I personally view AEGIS as the biggest threat to the Imperium, ever since the Barbarian Invasions and the Arabs and Turks.

I have to say, the Roman Empire's population does seems low compared to the other European powers. Even the Nordic Union has 15 million, though according to Populstat Sweden and Norway had less than 5 million in 1850.

Can we just make Populstat the final authority on everyone's populations? If everyone isn't playing by the same rules, then people are incentivized to exaggerate their populations. The last thing I want is a boring numbers race where people repeatedly say "X just raised their population; I should too!"

But it would be accurate off of the RL events not the AH ones here populations would be different because of history

A little realism would do us good, and having one stat authority would end arguments.

Players could be allowed to state their populations at up to 125% of the number provided by Populstat.

While that would be an improvement, nations that chose 125% would be better off than those that stuck with 100%. Populstat is the closest thing we have to historical accuracy.

But consider I'm majorly different then RL would be inaccurate for some countries

No, you aren't, in terms of population. The plague occurred 500 years ago, and thus not being hit by it would not affect your population.
