Ever look into the story and series of Mass Effect?

Good to see Harb hammering out OPs. Is it threadable or still in dev?

Osnil Returns wrote:ALright so I've run through a list of features the Hunger Games will have and a list of ideas i'm considering implementing
1. Popularity stats that dictate which group is likely to give you money
2. A map of the arena
3. About a week of training and such before the arena
4. Sponsors and Districts (each district has a unique item it can provide to it's chosen tribute)
5. Deadly Events
6. FUN!

Ideas I'd like opinions on:
1. Sub-OPs. These guys have an important job: controlling the flora and fauna in a sector of the map. They can also, with permission from the OP, trigger mini-events in their sector. They do not have the right to kill a character without permission from OP or Co-ops.
2. Choice-based story. I'd like for each choice a tribute makes to affect things in the arena and out. Out of the arena could increase or decrease popularity in each group. Inside the arena could result in deadly consequences. For instance, deciding to sleep on the ground might keep you away from the Man-Eating Rabbits, but something in the tree could be equally dangerous.
3. A list of items for purchase like a bottle of water, cloth, ect. My only issue is how to do prices. Should I have the prices start at a similar level then go up or down based on need?

So this is in the Hunger GamesTM universe? Or are you just using Hunger Games terms and the ideas until you flesh out what kind of story/world your making?

The thread is still in interest, they are doing a lot of work, as they have to sift through the canon for the unpolluted timeline.

Still being developed but a draft for the RP is in the works. A starship type and name has been selected;

Though I'm still uncovering the unaltered canon (as in how Earth would have developed with out the Sphere Builder's hindrance in ENT). Thankfully Gene had acknowledged 'Star Trek Space Flight Chronology' as the official canon in the 1980s. The book details the rise of the federation and Earth history; even to the extent of first contact.

ENT causes events to be delayed by a bout 100 years and to happen differently, but as Archer states in ENT "The Federation will still form, just not as history remembers it."

The project has turned out a great result but I'm still having to work on it- as I don't have the book and am having to find information on it's content via the net.
I'm still finding details out.

20th Century
1996 : Khan Rules a bit of the world during the Eugenics Wars. Production of the DY-100 class of ships begins. They are powered by a chemical/fission reactor.

21st Century
2010 : The DY-100 model Botany Bay is launched at the close of the Eugenics Wars. (Seeds of Dissent)

2019 : The first DY-500 Wheeler Class vessel is produced. It's powered by a fission reactor and built from surplus submarine hulls reconfigured for cryogenic transport as sleeper ships. (Star Trek Spaceflight Chronology)

2020 : The DY-100 class ends it's production run.

2048 : Earth Starship Icarus makes contact with Alpha Centauri.

2055 : The DY-500 Wheeler class vessel ends it's production run.

2065 : The UNSS Amity answers the distress signal of a disabled Vulcan vessel, initiate first contact with the Vulcans.

2069 : The last of the four Earth-Kzin Wars come to an end. This war ends with the Treaty of Sirius which forbids the Kzinti from all weapons aside from police vessels and the like. "The Kzinti fought four wars with humankind, and lost all of them. The last one was two hundred years ago, and you haven't learned a thing since!" (TAS: "The Slaver Weapon")

2079 : The SS Bonaventure is the first Earth ship equipped with a Warp Drive. It goes missing on it's maiden voyage in what has become known as the Delta Triangle. (TAS: "The Time Trap")

2087 : Earth becomes the first planet to ratify the 'Articles of Federation' of the United Federation of Planets. (Spaceflight Chronology and Star Fleet Technical Manual)

Unknown
Prior to 2079 : Cochrane makes his flight from Alpha Centauri to Earth via Warp Drive.
Between 2060 and 2079 : The Earth-Romulan War begins. "As you recall from your histories, this conflict was fought, by our standards today, with primitive atomic weapons and in primitive space vessels which allowed no quarter, no captives. Nor was there even ship-to-ship, visual communication; therefore, no Human, Romulan, or ally has ever seen the other. Earth believes the Romulans to be warlike, cruel, treacherous... and only the Romulans know what they think of Earth." (TOS: Balance of Terror)

Shadowwell wrote:The thread is still in interest, they are doing a lot of work, as they have to sift through the canon for the unpolluted timeline.

Indeed. This started out of curiosity regarding what the unaltered timeline looks like and has proven interesting.

We serve as a platform for NS to discuss various RP ideas that do not involve one's NS nation (as in RPs where one doesn't play their nation or someone from their NS nation). We share ideas, gives insight, and helpful advice. Our main aim is to bring such RPs together with writers and hosts capable of getting an RP running.

Well said. Unlike some RP groups or regions, we're not held together by any one specific Roleplay thread, fandom, series or genre. From occult and anime, to mainstream Sci-Fi and Tolkien fantasy, we've played host to it hear. And thats really what the Multiverse is about; like all roads lead to Rome, all your interests and threads can find there way into being a part of this community :)

I'd like to help, if you'd like the help Harb. I'm an Original Series fan myself.

It's not in the Hunger Games universe. I've mentioned before that it was a Multiverse-based one. It's set in a unique universe though.

I'm using their terms until I can come up with good alternatives. I've come up with Seekers as a replacement for Mentors. Regulators might replace Gamemakers. I still need a general name for the whole event, but the best term I could do was Survival Games. I'm also needing an alternate name for Tributes.

Will do- the project is still underway but I've started to grade references; and focus further on TOS. The project has moved away from a mere look at ST with out the Xindi Crisis and into something different- a recreation of the ST:TOS/TAS setting and an ignoring of the feature films and the like. I found out a bit about what Gene thought of the films, and I'm fine with not including them- turns out resources before the films provide details after TOS/TAS.

In fact, before ENT Gene had already approved a timeline concerning the establishment of the United Federation of Planets. So far the project is picking up in pace and moving swimmingly.

Back in 2007, when the series first kicked off, I was similar. If you find the time and interest, I'd be glad to pitch you an idea for a RP set in this expansive, and great universe.

Additionally, I'm going to be hitting up CoM's resident speakers over TG-speak. With past developments, I believe it might be time to have some real talk about the future of this group. Page 500 is always around the corner.

What was your opinion on my pricing system for items? Should it go up as more people buy an item and have a direct opposite that goes down when the opposite item is bought or should it have a solid system that stays at a specific price?

It depends on what you want to provide. A static price system is surely easier, if less realistic, to use and calculate. A system that factors in the cycle of supply and demand, while more number crunchy, can be charming to see -- adds a little more immersion to it.

The sad thing about After The Reckoning is i had a interested player base, but at the time that would have been optimal to host i had other commitments.

The Animated Adventures of Star Trek... I couldn't watch it. It reminded me of the Star Wars Christmas Special *shudders*

I've got the WHOLE series :D Ofcourse, I also watch 'Scott McCloud: Space Angel' which is even more low budget. I don't like 'The Magicks of Megas-Tu" episode but I still enjoy the show. The series is even now the canon regarding the last two years of the five year mission. M'Ress's species, the Caitians, even appear in the motion picture and the Kelvin Timeline. :D

Edit: For what is being referenced for the STWCHB project here is a list.
