That really makes no sense that the Teutonic Knights would do so since the Teutonic Knights were largely based in the area known as Prussia which later unified Germany. And they even went so far as to launch their own invasion of Russia.

Russian influence isn't why Ukraine is potato land; it's because it's generally a poorer and less-developed state historically; so that is my comparison to Ireland.
