Or maybe when they bump into each other, Leonard and him talk, he makes a wrong move and they fight, he gets beaten but somehow Leonard doesn't hold a grudge and actually offers to train him.

Likely by paying monetary tribute and attacking only targets he decides are not worthy of his protection, in exchange for him leaving them alone, and protecting them from rival groups.
I can put that in action.
Or maybe when they bump into each other, Leonard and him talk, he makes a wrong move and they fight, he gets beaten but somehow Leonard doesn't hold a grudge and actually offers to train him. Actually, ore accurately would be Leonard's passion for the Aura. Fighting Lyras, he is guaranteed to trigger Singularity at some point. While this massive power boost won't make Lyras win, it will be more than notable to Leonard, being part of a semblance, and that the kid he was fighting suddenly went full rage berserker. Leonard, being able to also realize that this is his aura severely held down by his inner conflict, would grasp just how strong it could be, and see it as his job/duty/whatever to reach it to its full potential, while also trying to steer him back onto a good path.
Lyras in his great stupefaction accepts reluctantly, thinking that he is too trained. Lyras, after Singularity gets beaten down to 0.5% health (it actually will not go below that) would disengage, and he would basically collapse back into normal aura-less form. Yes, you have to get Singularity health to o.5% before he comes helpless and killable. Leonard, who would not kill him, for such above reasons, would notice shortly after letting him live the significant damage Singularity caused to him. Likely, in some way or another, trying to help him think past it. Lyras is mentally weakest at this time more than any, and is therefore extremely easy to get him talking, and being trained without being an asshole.
And then, I could orchestrate the first class.

Infact, near this point, he'll be paralyzed from exhaustion for a long ass time. Unless someones got healing. Also really hungry. At 0.5%, Singularity disengages, and he falls on the ground barely alive, and incapable of resistance.

I was thinking that they'd have history. Maybe my character was somehow connected to a mafia group rivaling the one Lyras's brother was in, or something. I'll think about it if I apply.
