I don't think he ignored Aria. Well, sort of, I suppose towards the end, but he's way more comfortable with Heamet anyway. That isn't the main thing I'm stressing though.
Soon, Reality will hit him hard with a big stick and we'll start to see some changes in how he behaves.

He hardly has the spine for that. Also, he's much more content with being given a reason to criticize them than trying to change their behavior.

Coward is defined as a person who lacks the courage to do or endure dangerous or unpleasant things.... Eh. About social issues, yes, but this is hardly a character trait that is true for everything.
She may some day. Not right now. For now, he will keep making assumptions about the nature of their relationship until it becomes prudent to insult you both on it.
