Handpicked by ONI Section III Special Tactics and Operations, you have summarily been reassigned to the UNSC Memento Mori currently in orbit above the bastion world of Reach as the newest member of Eclipse, a recently established black-ops force under the direct orders of the Office of Naval Intelligence STO and commanding officer Ethan Woods. It is expected of you to take upon yourself duties deemed vital to the continued existence of mankind. Officially you do not exist. Standard procedure no more has meaning. Your only goal is the success of the mission no matter the cost.

- BLACK Initiative

Established in 2546, the BLACK Initiative is a clandestine venture headed by the Office of Naval Intelligence Special Tactics and Operations. Focused primarily on unorthodox combat strategies, BLACK divisions are meant to function in similar capacity to that of SPARTAN soldiers, often deployed when SPARTAN units are unavailable. Divisions are granted near complete autonomy and often operate separate from usual command hierarchy.

Operations include but are not limited to assassinations, counter-terrorism, espionage, and planetary defense.

Bresslerr stands at 6' 2 and has little excess fat on his body leaving only muscle and bones and their place to fill up his bear like stature. His graying hair is kept in the standard Marine Corps high and tight, and his facial hair is non-existent when circumstances allow for it. His body is a roadmap of all the ways the Covenant have tried to kill him; his left arm and lower neck have serious scarring from plasma burns caused by a Wraith's plasma mortar while his face has three scars running from the top left of his head all the way down to his right cheek courtesy of a Yanme'e drone. The injuries recieved from the drone caused Bressler to receive a flash cloned eye which unlike it's original dark grey, is an almost lightish blue color. Bressler also suffered from an energy sword to the chest which punctured one lung but missed his heart and spine by a miraculous feat.

His standard uniform is the regular standard issued ODST BDU's and armor with no identifying marks or customization of the armor. The only thing that sets him apart is the fact that he dislikes the standard ODST helmet and instead wears a black fatigue cap with Gunnery Sergeant chevrons sewn onto the front.

Bio: Nathaniel Bressler was born into a marine family in Quantico, Virginia at the marine post's local hospital. His parents deployed while he was young and were killed by an Insurrectionist bombing of their troop transport in Epsilon Eridani. Bressler was put into the UNSC Child Care Services and was shuffled through multiple families until he enlisted at the age of 17 in the UNSC Marine Corps and was selected for Demolitions training after boot camp due to his proficiency with the explosive portion of boot camp. After Demolition's training Bressler was selected for training in MARSOC where he underwent months of intense training and orbital maneuvers before being shipped off to war. Bressler then saw combat on multiple worlds against Covenant and Insurrectionist forces as a special forces operator attached to a unit dedicated to enforcing the Cole Protocol. For most of his military career Bressler's unit was sent into overrun territory and failed evac sites to ensure that no possible traces of Earth's location remained anywhere a job that was to be carried out through any means necessary; in fact Bressler's unit is credited with detonating a Havoc tactical nuclear warhead to destroy a wrecked destroyer that might have held a salvageable nav chip as well as the Covenant battalion shifting through the wreckage.

The Havoc Incident caused the unit to be rotated away from the front-lines for R-R to a nearby UNSC world known as Paris IV; The Resolution had just arrived near the planet when the Covenant arrived. Bressler's unit was quickly deployed dirt side to hold the aliens off from an evacuation site in a shipyard and to destroy the port's mainframes. For a few hours the marines held off a seemingly endless wave of grunts as shuttles took off to try to make their escape. However, this success brought the attention of a unit of Spec-Ops elites in the nearby area who were supported by heavy artillery in the form of Scarabs. The marines had no chance against the new hostiles and were decimated along with the evac site and the hundreds of civilians still trapped in the port. During the fighting Bressler was speared by an Elite's energy sword but miraculously survived albeit severely injured, which effectively put the marine out of commission for the rest of the massacre that ensured. Bressler was later evacuated by a UNSC Army company that had been decimated in an encounter with several Hunter pairs earlier in the battle. Bressler was evac'd to reach where he was treated for his wounds and recovered from them quickly in hopes of returning to the fight. However, the marine was not given the chance as he was instead given the slate of Drop Pod Instructor for the various new ODST volunteers that flooded into recruiting stations as the colonies began to dwindle; that was until an ONI agent handed the marine sealed orders to report to a classified ship with a classified mission.

Hopefully. No new posts for a while and I'm hoping it stays that way. Apparently one of the guys did post in OOC, but it was for a new RP he's planning, so I really don't care. I don't plan on continuing to post and would rather it go quietly into that good night.

It was a decent experiment, but I don't think I'm cut out for OPing at the moment.

Despite the opportunity to work within ONI, Caroline still harbors some ill will towards the UNSC for her parent's deaths. She had little choice in joining the Initiative, however, as she wasn't particularly keen on what might happen if she said no.
