And that won't happen because I'm a strong king.
Now my heir, that's another story.
Yeah, the constitutional monarchy is wee bit silly.Transoxthraxia wrote:Napkiraly wrote:Only for it to fall apart soon and become isolated and forgotten like Iceland, but without without the hot springs and fair maidens.

THIS MAN GETS IT!
And I only said constitution because I couldn't think of anything else to say. I meant some way for Rí to keep power and not have the "he stripped us of everything" reason for war.

How about he allows those he conquered to keep their lands? That what was usually done unless the conquered lord happened to be on the really bad side of the guy who just conquered him. For instance, historically when Wessex conquered Sussex the king of Sussex kept most of his lands and was made the equivalent of a duke.

Yeah, but that's what really EVERYONE does. I figured he'd do it by default. Unless they're pagan.

Well, the these of the book itself is that the notion of "gaul" was mostly created by César himself and that the celts, tought behind an important ethny, were only a part of the population of Gaul ; which was composed of a patchwork of germanic, iberic, latin and even greek population; and not a cultural majority.

Latin probably not, since Latins were native to Latium only.

It's probably the most tried and true methods of post-conquest government in the dark age and the medieval age for a reason, they lose their leaders of men and suddenly the army is following the orders of someone else, really changes the peasants perspective on things...

Thats like saying the Germanic race is native to Scandinavia only. It's obviously true but entirely irrelevant.
It's entirely relevant, prior to Caesar's invasion, there were probably very few if any Latins, Celts and Germans spread out and formed many kingdoms in plenty of territory, Latins did not.
