Probably a wise call. The lab will get you to Geology easily enough, and from there the next tech is just enhanced production.

If you already get a lab, I suggest going for Industrial Core instead. HIPs may be expensive, but on the long run, they are far more efficient then the manufactory. Petrol can wait till later.

Yes please. However intermixing philanthropist gov with industrial governor to improve productivity if need be would be fine.

Edit: I just realized how necessary a solar panel is. If I was to go with g-techs suggestion is run a energy deficit. As I get 3 food and 2 energy from the coast and all.

Nah, you should be fine. You only need E for your Hab and Hydro, a -2. Coastal puts out 2. Just put two folks in your mine, or swap out your hydro with a Mine every few Quarters and you'll be fine.

Haha no, what I mean is you'll have both a Hydro and a Mine, and only one spare energy. Just run the Farm regularly, and switch the energy to the mine whenever you need more metals.

Well, having a Lab essentially means you get a free Tier 1 tech. Being able to build Plantations or Heavy Industrial Plants right out the gate is very useful. Or, in your case, being able to build Petroleum facilities in the first 5 Quarters.

Edit: Which reminds me, should we slow down Hark? Two quarters a day, to allow more detailed RPing as people deal with the sudden population influx?

Yes, and because Eventually, Industrial growth will surpass population growth and thus you'll be in big shortage of it, especially once wars kick in.
