Furthermore admission treads a dangerous line since you're essentially increasing the propensity for conflict since Russia will retaliate. More feasible would be for an underground deal to be struck. Same goes for Israel, a major NATO ally that will in all probability be defend by NATO in the event of an invasion, but will not be a NATO member.
