Or of course join the Royal Dutch Army, and then flee across the continent until Britain following the invasion.

Up to you. Geier's membership is pretty open, not to mention the Axis has a notorious policy of supporting nationalists in Allied colonies (as long as they cooperate with the Axis). This is more from the Japanese side, though. The Germans were a bit more iffy at relying on such people, at least until they started losing.

Of course, SHADOWCOM is open for members too.

I didn't see anything on SHADOWCOM or Geier on the OP, would you mind quoting them for me? Unless I'm blind and it actually is in the opening post.

It's there. SHADOWCOM's intro actually stretches for two pages. For mine, it's much harder to find, because OP doesn't update. :V

The Shadow Operations

While Nazi Germany pioneered the mass use of occult beings in warfare, the first nations to create occult special forces teams meant to be deployed to neutralize enemy supernatural threats were the Allied Powers of Britain and France, soon to be joined by the USSR, America and China. The first Shadow Ops teams were first formed in 1940, only admitting mages and witches along mundane military personnel, but later on access was also permitted to vampires, werewolves and other beings which were once considered a "liability" for the safety of operations.

The field of operations of the Shadow teams is virtually extended to the entire world, thanks to an intricate net of magical portals mantained by Allied-aligned and resistance mages, but its main HQ remains in Baker Street, London, sharing an home with the British Special Operations Executive. Due to the organization's international character, several attache offices, aides and observers from the American OSS, Soviet NKVD and French BCRA. The building itself hosts dormitories, common rooms, well-furnished armories, briefing and monitoring rooms, a training facility, administratory offices and mystic portal mantained by the Albion Lodge in its inner levels.

The Shadow Ops teams are numbered and listed using the RAF Phonetic Alphabet. Their make-up, species and nationality-wise, tends to be pretty varied: to build an all-round good, perfectly functioning Shadow Ops team, an highly varied range of skills, powers and supernatural abilities are needed. While most Shadow Operatives are volunteers, but the SOE-led Shadow Command is known to sometimes "convince" unwitting potential operatives into joining one of the squads. It's also not uncommon to find Axis defectors in the ranks of the Shadow teams. It bears to note that the Shadow Operatives are just a small part of the massive number of occult individuals employed through the course of the war.

It was a tale of heroes fighting against true evil; liberators freeing millions from slavery and death; paragons for children of future generations to look up to and cheer, as the tyrants and sadists of the Axis powers crumbled before them. Not all were heroic - indeed, the Soviets were not one to champion saving anyone but the state. But there was no denying that for all the Allies' faults, their enemies were far, far more barbaric. But this is not their story. This is the story of the villains who had to face their end, not just from the heroes who spite them, but the leaders who saw it their utmost to sacrifice them for their own pitiful survival.

Species (if Human, specify if Mundane, Mage, Witch, Minuteman or Esper): Human Mage
Nationality: Japanese
Ethnicity: Japanese
Religion (if any): None
Powers/Magical Specializations (Only if Mage, Witch or Esper): Onmyodo, Shadow-Based Magic
Bio: Born around 400 years ago, Makoto was a member of a group of Samurai dedicated to the protection of Japan and its people. Deciding not to take sides in the ongoing conflict for the shogunate, the group instead hid and trained in order to prepare themselves for protecting whomever the next Shogun would be. Many of these warriors were capable in physical arts and in the magical arts.

Deciding to insure that the leader of Japan would always have a strong guard, the leader of these warriors opted to seal them away, leaving instructions to awaken them from their magical hibernation, as well as a message to only awaken those required to protect and to train others in their ways. And with that, a majority of the warriors were sealed off. Some time later, an earthquake cut them off from the outside world.

A few years ago, an archaeological dig discovered the resting place of these warriors. After trial and error, a few of these warriors were reawakened, and were dubbed the "Reborn". Many of the others died during hibernation, either from the earthquake, from faulty sealing, or other circumstances.

Makoto, now a living relic, must forge a new path in an unfamiliar world. A world tearing itself apart with war and bloodshed. The times of black and white moralities and clear allegiances are gone now, a far cry to the conditions of modern day. Will Makoto continue as a sworn protector of Japan? Or will his personal code rip him from his sworn duties as samurai?

Currently like this, but I'm not sure how to continue the bio because I haven't added him joining either organization...

Name: Muhammad Rizal Rademaker
Gender: Male
Age: 26
D.O.B.: 8/17/1916
Species: Human Dukun (Indo-Malay Shaman)
Nationality: Dutch East Indies
Ethnicity: Minangkabau (West Sumatran)
Religion: Islam
Powers/Magical Specializations: Particularly good with a keris, he is actually rather fluent in Islamic shamanism rather than the traditional form of animism found throughout the archipelago. The means, rather than using dark arts, he is excellent in using healing magic and is capable of doing several acts that humans are capable of as stated in the Koran (moving over large distances with the ability to carry heavy objects), but these tend to wear him out, even to the brink of death.
Bio: The son of a muslim-turned Dutch merchant and an East Indies maid, Rizal was grown in an environment of servitude following the passing of his mother. His father was still relatively kind to the boy, but found his tropical skinned son to be someone else to be desired. Despite this, he was raised religiously, even when the two returned to the Netherlands in 1921.

Living with the rest of his Dutch side of the family, his status was lowered to devastatingly low levels, and only got worse when his father began to succumb to sickness. Rizal was treated badly, forced to do housework with little to no breaks. And yet he kept his faith high, and prayed for his father's speedy recovery daily. It was one moment when he was praying near the man's bed did he realize that he was slowly getting better, and he did his work quicker every day so as to make time and pray for the man.

Like a miracle, he was healed, but it wasn't just because of Rizal's prayers; it was an inner ability to channel magic, which had an inherent healing property. Several years after, he enlisted for the Royal Dutch Army, being placed in the reserves a combat medic with a rank of Korporaal. Things got especially ugly when the Germans invaded the Netherlands, which he managed to survive due to the almost immediate surrender of the RNLA to the Wermacht forces. He was rather popular for his ability to heal the wounded soldiers from both sides, and was suggested to join the German forces a year later.

Volunteering for the Wermacht, he was once more a combat medic, but now with a rank of Unteroffizer and tasked to lead a squad of Dutch volunteers who were also medics. Due to his name (and choice of melee weapon), they had a slight distrust towards the Pribumi, but after several battles on the French front, they began to grow confident in his abilities. He had also come to adore a certain rifle he had captured from a Frenchman, the MAS-36.

Eventually being transferred into SS Medical Company 60, 34th SS Volunteer Grenadier Division Landstorm Nederland, he finally attempted to make an escape from the horrors that the SS committed on a regular basis. Finally realizing they were current evil in the world, he decided to make a run for the Allied border. Dressing as a civilian and only armed with his MAS-36 carefully stowed in a travel pack, he vanished from the formation that was moving back to the Netherlands, reappearing several miles from the Spanish capital. Doing this several times after long intervals, he appeared in a British recruitment post somewhere in Egypt, looking very unfit due to his overusage of powers, stating his story and intentions. After several interrogations, it was deemed that the man would be capable of combat should he get some rest, and was later suggested to SHADOWCOM for further processing.

Psychological Profile: Tries to avoid a fight, but will do so fiercely if pushed. He cares for people's lives, even if they aren't 'people'.
Why do you fight?: For the people, whether if they're Pribumi, Dutch, Germanic, or anyone else that stands for freedom from unnecessary injustice.
Defining Quote: "It's not the sword that makes a hero, it's the heart."

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh... I don't sure I can accept that. I'm not even sure which side he'll be joining, though i suspect it's Geier? Maybe try to make him more... believeable? Because this RP follows real life history closely, and as far as I know, the emperor has practically no political power at all prior to the Meiji Restoration (and still the case after). A loyal cadre of samurai under the emperor may be stretching it a bit. I dunno. :V

Seems good. Could go either way. Does he join Geier and put himself in the position where his conscience gets messed with at the sight of every atrocity, or join Shadowcom and contend with the reality of fighting for colonial masters who preach freedom for Europeans, and Europeans alone (Soviets would state otherwise, however)? :3

Player Character App (Shadow Ops Operative)

Name: Enrique Polvogatti
Gender: Male
Age: 40
D.O.B.: 1900
Physical Description and/or Picture: 6 "2" Ft, 185 pounds/ Quite slender, but with clear muscle definition. Brown eyes. Combed over brown hair, and an oil handle bar mustache
Species (if Human, specify if Mundane, Mage, Witch, Minuteman or Esper): Mundane
Nationality: Italian
Ethnicity: Roman
Religion (if any): Catholic
Powers/Magical Specializations (Only if Mage, Witch or Esper):
Bio: Enrique was the sun of national champion gymnast. From the day he could walk, his father had him practice gymnastics for hours on end. By the time Enrique was 14, he had already won the national Italian boys gymnastics championship. Sadly, his father died in a mysterious fire when he was only 18 years old. Wishing to provide for his now assetless family, he joined the Italian military in the final year of WW1. After not receiving his military salary, which his family desperately needed, he joined the Italian fascist party. Throughout the 20's he would help indoctrinate members of the Italian military towards fascism. He became a respected party member. In 1936, he was recruited by the Italian Shadow Ops team. He has been working with them ever since.

Psychological Profile: Is quiet and intense. He is cynical of the world, do to his early career being taken from him due to an accident. He is loyal to the Fascist party because they offer a glory that he once almost had.
Why do you fight?: For glory to Italy
Defining Quote: " Life is a story, make it an adventure."
RP Sample:

The men and women wailed, cried, and moaned upon their crosses. The ones whom had just been on cried the worst, while the ones whom had been on for a day or more hardly made a sound. The Divine-Emperor Puerignis looked at their mounted bodies as the chariot passed by. 1,000 crosses had been erected outside of Rome, and the cries of the accused could be heard from miles around. These were the men and women whom had participated in the chaos of the coup; the looters, the rapists, the thieves, and general insects whom were attracted to a flame where ever they could find it. Upon cementing his power three days ago, he commanded the military of Rome to suppress the riots and to capture anyone involved ( be they participant or onlooker). It would be a whole day and a half before the situation was under control again. Once order had been restored, the Son of Fire ordered all those whom had been captured to be crucified. Puerignis had chosen to run the chariot passed a line of them outside of Rome to see his orders carried out. He would let it be known to his people that he would not stand for any form of insubordination or disobedience.

Puerignis's chariot eventually made it's way down the entire line and turned towards a private entrance in the wall reserved for the higher ups in Roman society. They entered into a small garrison inside the city. They were walking about, carrying supplies, rushing off to rebuild parts of the city that had been destroyed. There was still a mess to clean up, but it was significantly better than what it was three days ago. a large and luxurious litter was prepared and waiting for the Divine emperor, and 6 members of his Army of Fire were now waiting to be his guard. Puerignis dismounted from the chariot. He looked much different from what he had three days ago. He now wore the imperial purple toga of the emperor. Puerignis walked past his guards who gave him the roman salute. He quite enjoyed it. Puerignis closed his eyes as he entered into the large and lavish litter, were he then seated himself down on a bench on one side of the box. He snuggled his bottom into some sitting pillows and breathed out loudly. It had been a long and strenuous five days... and he still had more work to be done.

Puerignis opened his eyes to see Hector of Mario sitting directly across from him and grinning from ear to ear. His grin was so infectious that Puerignis couldn't help but grin too. " Well..." Hector showed off his surprisingly white teeth. Puerignis finished his sentence, " We did it!" The two men threw back their heads and laughed out loud for several minutes. It was as if all the stress and pressure of the last three days was being released in this one session of laughter. A minute or so after they had finished off the last of their titters, Puerignis peered over at Hector. He was beginning to accept him as a legitimate friend. " So, how have you been over the last few days? You weren't disturbed by the riots now were you?" Hector stuck up his hand and shook his head, " No, no, I was quite fine. The riots never reached my quarter of the city. I did hear, however, that Gaius lost a worker." Puerignis had just remembered the troll of a man whom had built all of his army's zarotans. He would have to keep true to their agreement. " A shame, I will compensate him." The litter became quiet all of a sudden. Hector looked out of the window of the litter before speaking again, " You know, your men never did explain why you wanted me to be present in your litter." Puerignis smiled again. " Oh, yeah... remember what I said about you having all the resources you would ever need for your experiments." Hector furrowed his brow and gave a faint one sided grin. " Well... you'll see."

19 minutes later...

Puerignis ushered Hector into a small room with a desk, a fire place, and several shelves filled with scrolls on them and a map on one wall of the room. Puerignis stood in front of the desk and watched as Hector walked around and inspected the room. " What is this place." Puerignis smiled, " my accountants room of imperial logistics." Hector looked back and raised an eyebrow at Puerignis. " At least, that's what my imperial accountant told me it was. From this room," Puerignis picked up a piece of lead and held it out so that Hector would take it, " You will have knowledge and access to all resources present in the empire." Hector took the piece of lead from Puerignis's hands and looked at it. He stared back up at the Divine-Emperor. " What do you mean." Puerignis motioned to the map on the wall. " If it exists in the empire, and you need it, all you need to do is write for it in this room, and you will receive it." Puerignis put his hand down and began to walk out of the room, he turned back before he left, " I'll leave you to it then." With that, the Son of Fire closed the door and left the genius inventor to finally dawn upon what he had just said. He tentatively sat down at the seat in front of the desk and looked down at the blank scroll in front of him. He gently placed the lead down on the scroll before he began with a fury to write down everything he could possibly need to satisfy his intellectual pursuits.

1.5 hours later...

" They are only curious as to what exactly is going on in Rome your holiness." Senate was in session and Puerignis sat at the imperial throne before the head consul. He was receiving his very first daily report. Some of the governors were becoming ancy about hearing reports of violence in Rome and were starting to ask questions. " Then tell them exactly of what has occurred. I, Puerignis son of Prometheus, have received the seat of Emperor under the edict of the former emperor Trajan. I do not know why they should be so unsure as to our situation." The consul kept a blank face and he could tell that he thought Puerignis a fool or a mad man or both. " I believe that they are more concerned with your, erm, divinity; as well as your, uh-" he motioned to the guards on either side of the throne holding up the zarotans, " methods of how you attained such power. They wish for you to clarify who you are and why you are here." Puerignis was getting annoyed by the consul's constant aging of him to give an answer to counter his own claim of divinity. Puerignis was no fool, he knew that most of Rome did not believe his claims, even with the Zarotans as proof. Nevertheless, he had to maintain the image. " Inform them that I am the son of my father Prometheus, the gifter of fire. And, that I have risen to power through the use of yet another divine tool that my family has chosen to grant to you mortals." He could now see the consul visibly annoyed, " And," Puerignis was sure to make this point quite clear, " that if any are in doubt as to my divine nature, that they, their families, and their servants will be put to death and their titles and claims will be redistributed by me." The consul took on a far less defiant look now. " Is this understood consul Marvic? Can you send this message along, or is it beyond your skill set." Marvic took on a look of distaste, " No, it will be done... your holiness."

Under his mask, he has a black hair, a beard, and a ponytail.

Psychological Profile: Obsessed with Honor, Wishes to Protect the Innocent
Why do you fight?: To protect the innocent from meaningless bloodshed, and to continue to follow the rules that he had followed for so long.
Defining Quote: I am the knife in a gunfight.
RP Sample: Same as previous app (that was never looked at IIRC)

Completed, I think...

I dunno. :V

No mention of Emperor was made, all I mentioned was the Shogun. And yeah, he's initially Axis.

Oh. Might have misread there. Still, you're going to have to ask Agri on this. I have no idea how this is going to fly.

What in particular stands out as a potential problem? And aren't you the one running the Axis campaign?

I suppose it's their loyalty to Japan, a country that technically didn't have a solid national identity prior to the Tokugawa, or even until the Meiji period. Samurai at the time are loyal to local daimyo, not to the country itself. If it was a sect that formed after the Mongol Invasions that organized this, I can understand. Other than that, nothing wrong with the app, as far as I can tell.

Well, besides him fighting halfway across the world rather than in the Pacific, but it's not like we won't do that either. Just strange for Japanese to send men this far West when there are more immediate concerns.

I tried to make it as historically accurate as possible. Wanted to make it after the introduction of firearms to Japan, but early enough to have him be confused about things. To that end, I re-watched History of Japan.

It's ok, I'm fine with him joining Shadowcom. Just that you're going to need to wait till Chapter 2 of the IC before you can join in. And given Agri's post rates... you'll be in a retirement home by then (or when NS implodes upon heat death)

I'm actually interested in applying for membership, too.

My thoughts exactly.
For really, I think that the poorest he that is in England hath a life to live as the greatest he. And therefore truly, Sir, I think it's clear that every man that is to live under a Government ought first by his own consent to put himself under that Government. And I do think that the poorest man in England is not at all bound in a strict sense to that Government that he hath not had a voice to put himself under.
