Cool, it going to be a book book, or like a journal type through the eyes of an individual?

I'm thinking the idea of focusing on the Southwest, at least a decade or two after the bombs went off, would be good. It would distance us enough from New Evanston to make it more accessible to new people, but we could still have descendants of the main cast be a major plot point.
Factions might also be a bigger thing this time around, as well.

Beiarusia wrote:Alright, planning has begun on OUTBREAK 2, which at this time is operating under the title NO MAN'S LAND (subject to change).
27 years have passed since the outbreak and the world has effectively come to an end as humanity was vastly unable to compete with the infected. The United States, Canadian, and Mexican governments are nonexistent, and foreign nations that may have held out better than most others have since become isolationist. Any government is most often local and formed after the fact. Resources are being stretched thin (very little gasoline, for example) and global temperatures have dropped significantly, severely damaging food production (a China/India war ended with a nuclear exchange).
Most surviving populations are either Immune or Carriers, with Gifted remaining uncommon. No Immunity is extremely rare as most have succumbed by this point in time.
Standard Infected have largely died out. More intelligent Infected, while also having thinned in numbers, can commonly be found alongside other infection types, most notably Psychotics which have since become one of several rivals to humanity's existence, Lurkers being the other. There will be new infection types as well as a new virus, T-14, which is a mutated form of T-13 and can negatively affect those with immunities.
There will be several factions as well. A few include the Remnants, Atlas, and the Republic of Texas. There will likely be others as the story takes more of a form.
Currently the initial setting is Aspen, Colorado.
If anyone wishes to Co-OP or help in the planning stages just let me know.

I'd be willing to Co-Op. Worldbuilding tends to be my area of expertise, it seems.
So, I was thinking, plot-wise, that the conflict between the infected and the humans would take on more of a "Planet of the Apes" kind of thing. The humans are doing alright, given the circumstances, but the infected have begun forming tribes that capture and infect new people.
The Republic of Texas would be little more than a small coalition of towns and facilities under the control of a relatively small central government. That said, with it being a bit farther north, I think they may need to take a much smaller role. I would think that cannibals and slavers would also be a pretty big problem, maybe even the infected using weak humans for labor.
I plan on using Sarah and Paulson's daughter as my main character, but I could do whatever, faction-wise. I like the idea of her being raised in the apocalypse and having no idea what some of the old world stuff is. She'd be a lot like Ellie from the Last of Us.

I didn't know where the survivors would be heading (north or south) so the Republic of Texas could maybe be a faction.
Was thinking that Psychotics (maybe a new name and likely more intelligent) would have taken the lead of human rivals, being the in-between for humanity and other infected.
Was possibly using a descendant of Sam.

So you knew my mom?
Yep
How?
She pushed a pistol into my neck and talked to invisible people.

What if a few Psychotics join humans in their quests.
Like non feral ghouls from Fallout!

I imagine she'd leave that particular part out, though seeing as how she's an entirely new character, I don't think it'd be unreasonable for her to share some of her mother's more...unstable traits.
You know, I actually had the idea to explain Sarah's instability as being a byproduct of her immunity. Maybe a very small percentage of immune individuals experience those kinds of symptoms.
Then again, she might have just been fucking crazy.
