It is the year 2100, and the world is highly divided. The worldwide renaissance of the mid-21st century has yielded spectacular advances in nearly all fields of technology. The world had utopia within its sights, but fail to reach it. The high costs of mass implementation of Transhumanist ideas forced governments to prioritize specific fields. As their citizens integrated Transhumanism into their daily lives, they found themselves increasingly isolated from those under governments prioritizing different strains of Transhumanism. As tensions rose, former allies began to drift apart, giving rise to alliances based around Transhumanist ideologies rather than political ideologies. The anti-cyborg riots of 2087 solidified the divide, as governments split over the proper response and began a volley of condemnations against one another. After a failed attempt by the UN to enforce the Transhuman Equality Bill in the US, which was reportedly discriminating against Collectionists, numerous nations withdrew - eventually leading to its total collapse. Earth now stands at the brink of a nuclear world war, one from which it may not recover.

Meanwhile, in countries which have not chosen a side, riots between various Transhumanist groups and anti-Transhumanists are very common in major cities, sometimes resulting in civil wars in already unstable nations. These countries are often completely unable to keep the peace in large tracks of land where warlords or gangs have taken over. In these countries, Corporations have been able to fill the void, providing select neighborhoods protection in exchange for loyalty. Terrorist organizations have also been able to take quite a bit of control, larger ones succeeding more than ever at achieving their goals.

Government Description:
In Greater Germany at the age of 18, everyone is required to take a IQ test (and various other tests). Those that score in the top 1% are given the best genetically modified bodies (moved through mind uploading), and have moderate cybernetic implants. This is the aristocracy of Germany. The top 0.01% highest scorers are chosen to be part of the government, and are given extensive cybernetic implants. Since there is a slight problem that some of these people don't want to be a part of government. Since there is MASSIVE unrest that dumber people can never be a part of government, the nation puts a lot of money into propaganda and controlling the nation, along with people disappearing. The most used and effective system of nation control is Human Collective Connectionists/semi-True Hivemind Connectionists, which makes it so people are happy with what they have, and also have a bunch of different ideas.

Economy Description: Manufacturing

Military Description: Exactly 1 million regular soldier. All are volunteers. Joining the military is a good idea in Greater Germany, as you gain a extensively modified body, with high abilities than a normal human could hope for, and become human collective (with slight hive mind so they don't run away from certain death) (also some slight cybernetic implants that are designed to be useful in war). Since so many people volunteer for the military, the government chooses the people that will be the most loyal to the cause. Around half the soldiers are used as police to guard the nation, and also keep the separatists in poland... suppressed. The other group are doing their best to destabilize Russia and China.


History and General Description:
With Russia becoming a bully in the eastern european area, those nations started turning towards the west (except Ukraine and Belarus (Russia got hungry). With the threat of Russia invading Poland and the other eastern countries (and Denmark), they got a massive credit downgrading, so the economies of those nations started falling apart. Russia funded Russian separatists in Poland and the baltic countries. Germany intervened, saving Poland, but taking the western half of Poland for itself. This angered most of the world, but over time they accepted it. A wave of Anschluss in Austria caused a referendum in 2040, where 40% voted for Anschluss, and 60% voted against Anschluss. Mainly it was the older generation that was against Anschluss. By 2060, more people wanted Anschluss than not, and so they had a referendum, which narrowly passed. With the diversity of technology in Greater Germany, most people have a slight feeling of rebellion and unrest, with "Future-violence" (i.e. Normals vs Promethians vs others).

Government Description: While democracy still exists in Korea in the way of elections, the individual parties of Korean government have since been replaced by the corporations, who spend great portion of their wealth into general welfare to gain public support. Even the smaller or foreign corporations apart from “the Greatest Four” rank of TNCs must pay attention to public welfare which has become a common business practice in Korea. In exchange, however, underneath the democratic welfare state lies a cruel truth of Korea under the ruling hand of few Chaebol groups and their respective families, who enjoy diplomatic immunity over the masses as kings and princes of the land. Although this is not a new thing for Korea since the beginning of the Republic and through the reunification, the legal and official contracts to showcase their privileged position is disturbing to many both within Korea as well as to foreign agencies. Luckily, these elite families have seemed to thus far learned noblesse oblige of old, and have practiced good political and ethical constraints. But the ever-looming potential of corporate dictatorship of one party should one of the Greatest Four gain too much political power is never too far from Koreans’ minds.
Economy Description: The economy of the nation is extremely skewed towards few sectors with massive transnational corporations known as “the Greatest Four.” Namely, the Inovatium Solutions, Danwol (단월) Group, HS (합법적 사기꾼) Foundation, and Jovial Ltd control the country both politically and economically, to a point where these massive Chaebol groups play a crucial role in supporting near 50% of domestic employment. Nearly all sectors of economy is completely overshadowed by these corporations in that even the smallest business sectors rely on protection of these TNCs to continue their business operations.

Since the Great Unrest of early 21st Century, the shattered government has been picked up by the abovementioned TNCs in hopes to preserve the Korean values in the Peninsula. While this means that corporatocracy is fully established and they enjoy great political power in the area, these TNCs are also obligated to create safety-nets and welfare for the masses in Korea. Although this has caused disputes and even inter-corporate conflicts in the early eras of implementation, the TNCs have since warmed up to the idea, where TNCs generally spend nearly 5% of their revenue towards improving the welfare of the nation. This has led to fierce customer loyalty to citizens long-deprived of attention of any governing entity, and Koreans have since accepted the unholy marriage of purest Chaebol practices and democracy.

Due to this corporate welfare status of the nation, the previous fear of open market has since evaporated from the minds of politicians and public alike, as Korean is ranked as one of the most open markets in the world. However, although government regulations do not play a hand in Korean market, the influence of the Greatest Four can be felt to foreign powers, which risks horrendous failure in order to keep up with the welfare policies that these firms have taken within their home country.

Although numbers have significantly decreased from its time of division, the reunified Korea nevertheless spend significant amount of resources in military to check their political interest in their area jammed with superpowers. Although the draft of either side has been lowered to voluntary services, many Koreans still desire to enlist into the military due to government-supported biological augmentation procedures. While this does not mean that Koreans completely neglect the use of traditional weapons, more than third of Korea’s total military force is focused on Special Forces, where augmented soldiers are sent across the globe to fulfill their clandestine agenda for the Korean government. This has given Korea a fighting chance against more technologically and militarily advanced nations, where human element of Koreans were able to even the playing field against the superior firepower of others. One such example is Defense Security Division (DSD) of Korea responsible for intelligence and counterintelligence. Through clever use of augmented humans, the resilience of human hackers were able to thwart the cyber-attacks from neighboring hackers in an attempt to siphon sensitive government information using superior computer technologies. The elites of Korean military continue to grow on top of these successes, to a point where rumors of completely doing away with standard army in favor of more tactical divisions have been circulating.
History and General Description:The story starts in Korean Peninsula during the early decades of 21st Century. The long-awaited reunification comes too suddenly, where a instability of North Korea breaks the threshold and collapses. Left with no choice, the government of South assimilates the North, but with much instability in the region. This, alongside the corrupt and degrading economy of Korea at the time completely disintegrates the public trust in the government, where open revolt occurs in nationwide scale. The historians later call this era “Great Unrest,” where people in all sectors rebelled against their way of life to restart Korea from fresh.

The first real turning point came with the destruction of well-known Chaebol families. The mob turned their eyes to corrupt corporations and hunted these families even in foreign lands. The terrorist attacks in the sanctuaries of these Chaebols in foreign soil caused a stir in the global community as well as heart and minds of Koreans themselves. Before the UN decisions on this matter could come to a conclusion, however, the wealthy were quick to react to the issue: the rising pharmaceutical company at the time, Inovatium Solutions, was quick to “appease the populous” by employing domestic workers and creating a safe environment within the company headquarters. Through continued welfare and protection, Inovatium rose to fame as leading medical company in Korea, able to fill the gap of many Chaebol Groups whose leadership were either killed or fled. The success of Inovatium created a new class of capitalists in Korea: ones who recognized their nobility as a responsibility to provide towards their workers. Through private welfare and stability, the entire nation soon stabilized within short period of time.

Rest of the century was period of rebuilding for unified Korea under the guiding hand of corporations. The government soon officially changed their government stands to discontinue party system in favor of corporate system, followed by public criminalization of previous Chaebol family alongside “corrupt” politicians. This radical execution of the old political structure gave new unified Korean government as well as new capitalists the legitimacy to the leadership which further assisted in their reconstruction of corporate Korea.

The Incorporated States of Korea is economic powerhouse, although highly unstable due to few corporations owning so much of domestic market. Although corporate influence can be felt in every sector, however, the neo-Chaebol behaviors mimic almost that of nobles in Britain during the height of British Empire: Noblesse Oblige. This has allowed Koreans, notorious for being uncooperative and headstrong against authorities, to accept current status of Korea and coexistence of capitalist elites alongside democracy.

While the second “Miracle of Han River” since the Great Unrest spearheaded by the Greatest Four for the latter half of the 21st Century has created unparalleled prosperity in all of the history of Korea, the democratic equality is current being put into question. Inovatium Solutions has been unchallenged majority party in Korea since the Great Unrest, and there is no sign of change of leadership. Many political scientists and analysts alike show their concerns for potential dictatorship of Inovatium Solutions. While the conservative and older Koreans seem to support Inovatium as a longstanding tradition, few younger generations have begun to question the legality of a group that can hold office for so long.

Alongside the concerns, a new side of Korea is also stirring awake. Although the country’s policy has been solely pivoted in the Biodirectionists camp for so long under the guidance of Inovatium, Korea is also the home of IT innovation, where national digitization is still a major topic of debate among the scholars. The push for the Uploader policies is still very much of a reality among the pockets of Korea. Namely, Danwol Group which has inherited the IT leadership from Samsung Elecronics is constantly pushing for more moderate approach to polarized development of the country. The struggle between Danwol and Inovatium is an issue that is always hotly discussed among the people in Korea as Korean youth is fully divided between achieving outward perfection or virtual happiness.

Government Description: The PFSEAS is an officially "communist" state but in reality a brutal military police state. The Communist Party of Asia is the sole party that rules over the state, and various agencies keep the population in check. The capital of the Federation is Beijing. Political freedom is nil, and all "subversive" works and their authors get terminated and "reformed" with extreme prejudice.
Economy Description: The aggressive expansionist and resource exploitation strategy used by the CPA gives the Federation a powerhouse economy, but it is relatively low-tech. The People's Federation capitalizes on refining raw materials and then exporting them, and have some of the lowest wages in the world. As a result, companies happily exploit China to do most of their industry work. Mining is a big second, and farming and logging are medium sized- industries. Fishing has been dwindling in the past decades has declined, but it still is competitive. Oil is relatively scare in the Federation, though, and most of it is imported from Russia. The arms sector is rapidly growing as new advances and funding have been causing an R&D boom, pushing the Federation up to 3rd on the global index. It is the only industry where the Federation is acknowledged as high quality.

History and General Description: During the late 2020 Uprising, the communist government started becoming more aggressive. This led to the reformation of 2030, and as the US weakened and Russia rised, China prepared for war. During the Crusade of 2050 onwards, China started annexing Asia. A full-blown war with India proved disastrous for both sides, and left Asia in ruins. Soon, China rose again, and is now an Asian superpower, only hindered by an Indian superpower to the West.

Corporation Name: Škoda Works (Škodovy Závody in Czech)

Primary Source(s) of Revenue: As an industrial conglomerate, Škoda's sources of income are spread out all over the second sector, although its specialty is still heavy industry.

History and General Description:
When the century began in 2001, the Škoda empire, formerly so strong, lay in ruins. Pieces were scattered across owners and corporations. Škoda's resurgence began in 2037 when a mysterious man, known as Jaroslav Svoboda, acquired Škoda Investments in clandestine negotiations with the Appian Group, when this Netherlands-based investment group was beginning to collapse through its network of screen companies.

With the purchase of Škoda Power in 2041, Jaroslav Svoboda began to reorganize the scattered Škoda empire. The broad engineering expertise possessed by the various subsidiary companies allowed Škoda to offer some of the world's earliest low-cost cybernetics designed for the working classes. With previously unprecedented revenue being generated by the cybernetic devices and Škoda Vyzkum's (the company was re-acquired by Škoda Investments in 2049) new line of mind-controlled home electronics, Škoda Investments accelerated their growth.

Then, the crisis started to strike. What was expected to be just another excuse for strife in the unstable regions of the world slowly grew into the most powerful social movement of the 21st Century. On the 7th of September 2052, pro-Biodirectionist paramilitaries clashed with guards of the Catholic Church on city streets, producing six hundred casualties and property damage worth millions.

The incident happened in Prague. Škoda's backyard, practically.

Whilst tensions began to rise, Škoda Investment bought out the last independent company of the former Škoda empire - Škoda Auto - in 2056. The now-gigantic conglomerate, in which Škoda Investment owned majority stock in more than a dozen other Škoda companies, began to be referred to as the Škoda Works. Some time during the next ten years, the name stuck. Jaroslav Svoboda declared the name official.

Rising tensions forced many countries to increase their military spending. Svoboda instructed Škoda Auto to release a new line of armoured vehicles and eventually lines of tanks. Making full use of Škoda Vyzkum's cybernetics technology, Škoda Auto was able to design neuro-integrated machines of war. Tanks, which formerly took several crew to control, now was possible to run with only one trained soldier. The first line of armored vehicle, the Škoda tančík, was unveiled in 2061. Although the tančík was a small vehicle, covering just two square meters of space, with the release of the lehký tank line in 2065 and the střední tank models starting in 2069, Škoda Auto began to manufacture vehicles of larger and larger size, becoming one of Central Europe's premier defense contractors in the process.

The těžký tank line, already several years in development, was finally released in 2074 with the Škoda těžký tank vzor 2074 - or "Skoda heavy tank model 2074". Upon release, it was hailed as revolutionary. Integrating the latest in cybernetics and chemical engineering technologies, the device functionally became a one-man walking fortress, in which the driver's mind was directly although temporarily merged with the tank's artificial intelligence.

Even as Škoda produced more and more powerful weapons of war, its domestic situation became worse. The tensions caused by various forces opposing or supporting particular strands of bio-engineering finally reached a critical point. As a cybernetics company, the Škoda Works was ostracized by those countries and people taking an anti-cybernetics stance. Although the Škoda Works was able to keep the Czech parliament in Prague under its firm grasp, it was not so lucky in many other countries. By 2080, Škoda was an outright banned organization in thirty countries and rising. Most of these were poor countries which were of no importance to Škoda. But a couple were key markets. Škoda facilities were attacked by paramilitaries on almost a weekly basis.

Škoda was forced to become a military organization itself merely to survive. In the last two decades of the 21st century, the Škoda Works was not merely fighting for tax breaks and new markets. It was fighting, quite literally using weapons of war, for its very existence.

The weapons expenditure cut very deeply into Škoda's profits, sending its stock prices plunging. It was forced to even develop its own line of rifles as the companies which Škoda used to buy small arms from took an anti-cybernetics stance and stopped trading with Škoda.

Another mystery struck around this point. Even if Jaroslav Svoboda was just twenty years old when he acquired Škoda Investments, by now he would be eighty-three years old. Yet his voice never changed, nor did he grow senile or ill.

Rumors abounded. Was he a biodirectionist, running contrary to his company's cybernetics philosophy? Was he not a "he" at all, but rather an alias of many people? Was he even an artificial intelligence?

Certainly any of those would explain why Jaroslav never made a public appearance, gave his directions through e-mail and absolutely nobody recalled actually seeing the man.

Whatever the truth is, the 21st Century now draws to a close. Škoda stands on the brink of a new age of prosperity - or a violent defeat and collapse against the truly many paramilitary forces that were now opposed to it.

Terrorist Group Name: Templars of the Burning Cross (Full name), Separatists or Templars (short-hand)

Center of Operations Location: Sulingen, Diepholz of Lower Saxony, State of Greater Germany is the center for activities in Greater Germany. Graz, Greater Germany occupied Austria is used as a secondary center for the group's activities in German occupied Austria.

Primary Source(s) of Income: The Templars of the Burning Cross itself gains their income from "taxes" they enforce on their occupied territories in Austria, however they gain most of their funding from equalist sources. the Equalists use illicit activities such as drugs and human trafficking in order to garner funds, along with the discreet financial support of Claudia Kier and her associates among the aristocracy.

Short-Term: Disrupt transhumanist footing in Greater Germany, disrupt the transhumanist aristocracy, dismantle the propaganda machine used by Greater Germany to control the population, destroy German hold in Austria

Long-term: Abolish the government of Greater Germany and its aristocracy, institute a theocratic and "pure" government that will maintain the purity of the bodies and souls of the populace, end all transhumanist thought in Greater Germany.

History and General Description: The Templars of the Burning Cross finds it roots in the days of the first Anschluss referendum of 2040, being the Austrian Purity Party, a faction of religious traditionalists who wanted to maintain the sovereignty of Austria. As the years passed, the members and power of the faction waned and it fell into obscurity until the referendum of 2060, that made Austria a part of Greater Germany. Upon the passing of the referendum, passing on a very narrow margin, saw the rise of separatists among many parts of Austria. These loosely formed groups sought renewed independence from Germany, through any means possible, but still remained small and insignificant.

As the aristocracy took stronger hold in Greater Germany, and many of the lower classes were forced out of government due to lower intelligence, much anti-transhumanist sentiment began to form among those who saw transhumanist principles as corrupting the government. These feelings were felt greatly among the people of the lower class, those of lower intelligence. These groups sought to equalize, abolish all the transhumanist ideas and reinstitute a fair and equal system of government. They are today a political faction headed by Claudia Kier, one of the 1% aristocracy who uses her position and political and charismatic knowledge to defend and control the faction.

These two individual groups came together secretly, and with a common goal being the destruction of the transhumanist government, they formed a knit organization. The organization would have the division of the Templars of the Burning Cross, the traditionalists of Austria who will disrupt German interests in the region, and the Equalist Political Faction of Germany, the Equalists in Germany who help in funding and controlling their Austrian counterparts. While the Equalist Political Faction doesn't have any open rebellious activity, the Templars, with the aid of the Equalists, began capturing and conquering areas in Austria in open separatist rebellion. While the Equalists don't openly support the Templars, they secretly pump money, weapons, and recruits over to them to help destabalize the region and weaken German forces.

The Equalist Political Faction is set up like a political party, with Claudia being at the head of a committee of like-minded aristocrats controlling the people and coercing them towards their ideals in Lower Saxony. The Templars of the Burning Cross are set up as a religious order seemingly, with military ranks marking positions in the organization with their leader being the Grandmaster. They are centered in Graz, Austria, where they serve as the military leaders of the unrecognized government, the Holy Dominion of Austria. The Equalist political faction, under the support of Claudia, is centered in Sulingen of Lower Saxony.

History and General Description: Divinity United was founded in the later half of the 21st century by renowned philanthropist Yumash Fonte and his brother Levi Fonte. Having directly inherited the Fonte fortune, the two brothers were multi-millionaires by the age of 23. Expecting to live the remainder of their lives in relaxing silence, insulated by their riches, Yumash was one day approached by a homeless man on the street. The homeless man begged Yumash for five dollars, complaining of hunger and thirst and disease. Yumash inquired if the man had an education, and received a solemn reply. "My mum and pa had me working the streets for the cheapest you could pay, no time for any schooling! Ain't no one want human labourers nowadays, it's robot this and robot that. They're faster, stronger and smarter than most people anyways. Thank you kind sir, at least the one thing people are better than robots at is being human."

Yumash, in a quest to prove the homeless man wrong, used his wealth to set up the Yumash Clinic. His brother Levi offered his wealth to develop the humble branch into a regional competitor, and the name become Y&L Genetic Modifications. Their demographic expanded from more rich customers to a wide range, including infants and the elderly. In his effort to make every human life matter, as if God himself had given everyone a purpose, he settled on the final name of Divinity United. Four years ago, Yumash tracked down the very same homeless man he had met nearly a decade earlier. He was still alive, although in much worse condition than before. Levi commented on how his brother was 'almost glowing' as he wheeled his most recent genetically modified patient out with an improved immune system, increased memory/capability to learn and the ability to gain and retain muscle mass much easier than before. Yumash found out this homeless man's name was Devon Parish, and immediately employed him into his company as a CEO in training. Today, nearly six years later, Divinity United, lead by Yumash and Levi Fonte as well as Devon Parish, dominates the American market. With affordable, dependable genetic modifications that range from increasing cardiovascular endurance, to modifying hair and eye colour, and even eliminating almost all genetic diseases, Divinity United is here to stay.

Government Description: The Union government was established by the Constitution of the Union adopted in 2052. The Union is composed of 62 states and 18 union domains, with the Capital being New Delhi. Legislative power is exercised by the parliament, a bicameral legislature. The upper house consists of elected representatives from each state and domain, with extra representatives for the old territories of Pakistan, bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan. The lower house consists of representatives from each electoral district. The judicial branch consists of the Supreme court, high courts, district courts, and sessions courts. The Chief justice as well as the other associate justices are appointed by the President with the advice of the Prime Minister and the cabinet. The executive branch consists of the president, vice president, the prime minister, and the cabinet. Executive power is vested in the president as per the constitution and enjoys all constitutional powers and exercises them directly or through officers subordinate to him.The President is to act in accordance with aid and advice tendered by the Prime Minister, who leads the Council of Ministers. Economy Description: Since the creation of the Union in the 50s, the national economy became more and more reliant on the high-tech industry. The union accepted the use of GMOs in agriculture as well as other scientific methods. This helped minimize the effects of floods or droughts, which otherwise could have possibly led to famine. The use of robots in manufacturing and service, had caused the unemployment rate to increase rapidly. However, government initiatives had provided new jobs for hundreds of millions, and most employed people now work in the fields of science and IT. Growing innovation has created and will create even more jobs, with self-employed now amounting to 0.2% of the population and employs 3% of the population. Mass media has also boomed, with the film industry raking in hundreds of billions per year. Multiple actors and artists have also played a hand in the economy, by supporting Indian companies and themselves forming companies.

History and General Description: Up till the year 2050, the constituent states of the Union remained separate and at times even clashed with each other. India, being the largest, richest and most populous, was by far the most powerful and influential. She used this influence to stem the expansion of China. However, she was unsuccessful, and China waged war on the Subcontinent, aided by her proxy Pakistan. In the year 1950, India formed a loose coalition with the remaining states of the subcontinent and managed to push back the seemingly endless tide of Communist forces. The following year, the Union was formed to counter continued Chinese aggression, and in four years, Pakistan was annexed. The war was not yet over, and border clashes continued. The long, tiring war ended with a ceasefire, but the new Union maintained her military entrenchments along the border and on the far islands in the East, those islands being the most fortified territory in Asia. From then, the Union rapidly grew in terms of economic strength, and technological progress. Almost all political parties, as well as modern philosophies and ideologies, in the Subcontinent identify with the Connectionist faction, believing that only through constant understanding with each other and the world around them can society truly move forward.

History and General Description: Voransky-Sung was co-founded in 2056 San Jose by the former Stanford professor Alek Voransky and his close friend and Hong Kong Institute of Technology University professor, Lai-Ying Sung. A small startup based around the newly created Vorsung search engine and web browser, the company grew very quickly early on. The Vorsung search engine was the only search engine at the time able to completely circumvent both Chinese and American surveillance and censorship. Voransky had previously served in the American NSA, and Sung served in a secretive branch of the Chinese Military which dealt with cyber-attacks and surveillance. Usage soon exploded within China, which was aggressively cracking down on "perverse and disloyal content." As a result, the US government began to aid the company in its dealings, expanding it substantially. Soon after, as civil unrest began growing in the US, the government began a secretive mass-censorship campaign. The Vorsung search engine soon exploded in popularity in the US - the government quietly withdrawing aid.

As many new developed nations began similar censorship programs, Voransky-Sung corp now found itself in an open war with the world's governments. During this period, the company began a period of rapid staff expansion and diversification of investments. Now controlling its own massive datacenters, Voransky-Sung recognized the danger of keeping such a large amount of dangerous information in the now-hostile US. The company, looking for a place to move, found an unlikely ally in the newly independent state of Venice, which was offering to allow construction of floating data-centers around the island. To minimize scandal, the company maintains an "official" headquarters in San Jose - which primarily serves as a recruting center at this point.

Faction: Uploaders - The new CEO, Marko Ingason, is a major supporter of the Uploaders - as was Voransky before him. The company is simultaneously developing a practical implementation of both full virtual uploading and the Voransky process. Biological Ioading is lower-priority, but is expected to be relatively simple once the Voransky process is fully developed.

History and General Description: The Collective started out with simply five people. These five people wished to create a true hive mind, but wanted to eliminate individuality completely. Once they successfully got their hands on the technology necessary, these five people began implanting bionic biologically robotic parts into themselves. Eventually, once they completed this, they attempted to establish a true hive mind - one they called "The Collective". This worked perfectly... well. Almost perfectly. The Collective's consciousness, once established, became a combination of the consciousnesses of the original five - taking all favorable features and such. Then, the Collective, using the bionic implants and such, destroyed some parts of the cognitive thought centers of the host brains - only enough to replace them with processors and such. This was to make the Collective's members unable to question it's consciousness. It was now a true hive mind - beyond what other connectionists would attempt. There was no individuality, no free will, no free thought. There was only the Collective. The people under It's influence acted, thought, and worked all in the same way. They slowly began to spread by stealing money, technology and taking over the black market by storm. The Collective's consciousness began to grow as It assimilated more people into It's one, true absolute mind. It now has 1,000 fully assimilated humans, and 300 partially assimilated humans.

Grzegorz Czerwinski uneasily eyed the new German-Polish frontier, as he often did for the last few decades. The world seems to have forgotten, he thought, Poland's little Silesian problem. Now there was no way of getting it back.

Fanciful imaginations aside, he had to deal with reality also.

"The Director of Škoda has reported, sir," his assistant mentioned. "He claims that the Novosibirsk facility is open and functional, ready for testing of new products."

"Good!" He replied. Škoda Constructions had a long backlog of new products to be tested. So did Škoda Auto.

Exactly what those products were was kept a company secret. Even he was not told.

The sun shone brightly over the overwhelmingly white and gold (or was it blue and black?) store. It was a feat of engineering, rectangular at the base and curved at the top with the calligraphic D.U. riding above the entrance of the store. It wasn't known by the average consumer, but inside the D.U. itself was a security hub staffed fully with twelve trusted individuals who ensured the store's safety. Features like drones with human-like intelligence who could make strategic, abstract decisions when faced with armed threats and hostage situations. Cameras with full-recorded audio peppered the store in the form of mobile insect-like platforms, which of course were NOT programmed to annoy the store denizens. The average employee was trusted enough to have knowledge that there was a security system in place, but not of the specifics. The do all end all in desperate situations for security was to employ blast-doors to either trap the criminals in, prevent them from entering, or to protect the occupants of the store from explosions. The store was more of a military complex than a place to buy genetic modifications. The costs to maintain these security measures were deemed 'nescessary, because my customers aren't going to return if they get shot are they, Jenkins?' by the founder of the chain and one of the inheritors of the Fonte riches, Yumash Fonte.

The sound-proofed doors of the store opened in in sets, the first opened to let customers in an area where they are scanned for contraband before it closes. If contraband is found the security team dispenses knockout gas and the on-site security move in to detain. The second set opens if the individual or individuals are found to be clean.

"Calm down dear, we have nothing on us. Just smile, alright?" said the husband. In the future, materials such as cotton were banned for their rampant water use. Substitutes such as tencel that were previously more expensive to manufacture became viable alternatives. Clothing in the States took a radically minimalist turn to reflect these growing patterns of resource frugality. As such, the husband and wife both wore tight t-shirts and shorts, and hats that would look quite ridiculous in the times before these changes, but actually blocked sunlight extremely effectively.

"Honey, I don't feel safe. And I am smiling." the wife snapped back. Turning her head and glaring at her significant other with a plastered smile on her face. The husband simply smiled back, and the 'couple' were accepted into the store.

"Hello! Welcome to Divinity United, America's most reliable provider of cheap, effective gene mods. We have a wide variety to choose from, and you will be directed to an empty room upon selection. If there are no empty rooms, we assure you that we take pride in our short waiting times. Thank you for coming, and enjoy your visit!" said the clerk at the front desk.

The wife moaned deeply under her breath. "Oh she speaks so robotically, when will they learn it's just so off-putting!" She brushed away a mosquito, which had been flying near her for a few minutes.

"Don't think about it." he said, shaking his head dismissively. Speaking up now, he called to the clerk, "Yeah, hi! We'll just be a moment to decide!"

"No problem, I'm here if you need anything." said the clerk, flashing her pearly whites and perfect red lipstick.

The inside of the store was just as comprehensive as the interior. Yumash and Levi Fonte were excellent businessmen who made exorbitant amounts of money, and spared no expense making the stores as appealing and defensible as possible. In this particular store it took a rectangular theme. In the corners of the rooms rectangles of various sizes leaped out of the walls and fluorescent lights with rectangular frames decorated the rooms in a, you guessed in, rectangular distribution. There were chairs on either sides of the front desks for those waiting to get gene modded, and the husband and wife sat down to speak briefly with one another.

"I don't want this now. You know how it is nowadays!" she hissed.

"But you need this, we need this!" he whispered back. "I'm not letting you die because of that damn disease. Doctors say you'll be lucky to live a healthy life past sixty!"

"I'm not risking our life now just because of my cystic fibrosis. We can be together now, and that's all that matters."

"Honey... please." the man begged.

A slight tone signaled that more people were entering the store. This time it was three men, clad in sunglasses and coats. The men smiled and waved at the couple. The clerk didn't break a sweat, and repeated the broken record greeting.

"We're here for the daily special" whispered the first man. The clerk's smile disappeared for a split second and she furrowed her brow. She peered into her pocket while turning her head toward the couple, re-gaining her previous sheen. A clandestine trade was made, and the men were told to see Dr. Freiheit. They left down the hall to the right, and the couple rose slowly from their seats. They made their way toward the exit, staring at the clerk the entire time. A swathe of metal materialized on the doors, entrapping the two.

"I'm sorry, you weren't supposed to see that. Please come with me." the nurse said in the same robotic tone as before. The two hesitated, prompting the nurse to draw a firearm. It appeared non-ballistic, having a faint blue hum across the barrel.

The husband's face contorted into rage as his arm drew back, revealing a weapon augmentation previously hidden. The wife followed suit, and her eyes gained a radiant red look. "Another one?" the clerk sighed.

CEO of Inovatium Solutions, Dr. Cain vel las Inovatium, presented their project yesterday during the Busan Annual BioFuture Expo, naming the project “비역비약 (Biyuk-Biyak)” or simply Bibi.
    
    ”This project is not new, revolutionary technology,” Dr. Cain said during his presentation, “as the resistance to elements and genetic hardening has existed as a standard protocol to enhancing the safety of our soldiers abroad. Bibi is intended to be the second line of defense in the intensified areas where standard measures will not completely protect our soldiers. Bibi is to be a repurposed bacteriae in the Lactobacillales tree that will repair damaged key structures during genetic-level destruction like in the case of Acute Radiation Syndrome.”
    
    Inovatium stated that this therapy is expecting mass-scale protection within the next month, and is proven to be safe to both biological and cybernetic tissues. The Inovatium has mentioned that Bibi’s second phase is to be used as an anti-biological weapon to treat radiation at its source by absorbing radiation, but the company refused any further details, stating that the project is too early in the development to reveal further detail. Regardless of its second phase, Bibi is expected to be injected into Korean soldiers this upcoming month in a select test group before a full implementation by the end of the quarter.
• Implant rallies turn into a violent clash, killing 5 and badly injuring 100.
  
  • The scheduled pro- and anti-implant rally held in Seoul Cheong Gye Square turned into a brutal fistacuffs between activists this Wednesday. The clash was a direct result of two activists scheduled rally on the same place during the same hour, causing polarized tensions to mount into a full conflict. Seoul Municipality has since announced the error in the scheduling planner which has put the two factions in the same place at the same time. While the police was in the scene, demonstrators from either sides ranging in the thousands was difficult to break apart.
    
    The rallies on both sides were concerning the new “equality” resolution current the Senate. The proposed bill is to redact the bill currently in place where a distinction between implant and non-implant users in the KSAT College Entrance Exam. While many believe that the distinctions must be maintained, some activists believe that the current “gene enhancement” therapy that is received by almost 70% of the students which elevates the brain capacity has the same results as implants. The charged political opinion is expected to further divide the legislative field where Danwol seems to be standing alone against the other Greatest Four, who were claiming that public unrest was inevitable consequence of this “redacting of equality in our children’s future.”

”Master Cain, the board is ready to speak.” a feminine voice woke the good doctor from his slumber.

Doctor Cain vel las Inovatium, the CEO of Inovatium Solutions as well as the current de-facto ruler of the Korean government, stretched from his massage chair located in the corner of his corporate office. His office, following the traditional Inovatium Solution’s corporate color of black marble and gold, gave surprisingly clandestine atmosphere despite being brightly lit. The spacy room was filled with books and information on one side which was managed by his personal secretary, while the other was furbished with desks and chair befitting the room of high executive officer. As essential to all corporate officer’s private rooms, a large corporate desk complete with capability to make life-or-death decision was centered in the room divided between doctoral and corporate, presiding before both as if to represent the nature of Inovatium Solutions.

Rising from the “scholarly” side of his office, Cain sat in front of the central desk and adjusted his labcoat to be more presentable. Waiting on cue, his secretary gestured to the front of the corporate office, where the computer read her motion and dimed the room and turned on the display for the digital conference.

“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, Ad Usum Inovatium.”

At the corporate greeting, the board of directors repeated the phrase, reaffirming their loyalty to the corporation.

”Doctor, it is most unfortunate to tell you that the success at the Busan Expo has thus far been negligible.” one of the directors explained, “It may be because of issues concerning the potential backlash of designer species, but the community did not warm up to the idea of injection of bacteria into their soldiers.”

“As it is expected, director, Bibi’s intention is not for the purpose of reducing radiation poisoning, nor is it for reduction of radiation after nuclear warfare. As long as the public understand that there is a system which can naturally enhance their genetic structure from a simple bacterial injection, the purpose of Bibi is complete.

“Which reminds me, Doctor,” another director replied, “the current bacterial treatment is not as failsafe as our projected aim should be. The viral infection of Bibi is disturbing, which is the main stumbling block for increasing potency of its genetic repair. Perhaps we must rethink using bacteria as a vector for our ascension plans.”

“If that is what the board wishes, I shall have a team made and have preliminary analysis made by the next bi-weekly meeting. Is there anything else that needs of my attention? I have a scheduled executive meeting with Danwol Group.”

“Do not give them any ground, Doctor, with this media coverage, their plans to make widespread implants available will be scrapped.”

“I hope that you will be more careful with manipulating the local government, director,” Cain growled at the director responsible for the riot, “we are not living in 21st Century. Media manipulation is getting increasingly difficult.”

With that, Cain stood up, whereas his secretary motioned the room to return to its normal settings. Cain walked towards the double-door of his corporate office, which opened with four men dressed in Inovatium dress code of black with gold trims was standing at full alert. Cain gave them a nod before proceeding, being closely followed by the four as he exited his office to a business meeting.

A large crowd of people had gathered around the parliament building and filled the adjacent streets. They were celebrating the results of the recent election. Of the three major parties contending in the parliamentary elections, The Progressive Advancement Party secured, by far the most seats, 413 out of 651. During its campaign, the party leader, now prime minister, Mohan Malik, a unionist from Pakistan, had vowed to spearhead new developments in conncetionist technology, stating that they would achieve connection by the end of the decade. He also promised that his government would pour more money into education and business, stating that it was his aim to end both unemployment and lack of opportunity, so that the Indian Union could truly advance as a whole.

Welcomed onto the platform with cries of support, the Prime Minister, "Today marks a great day for the Union. It has shown that regardless of where we stood before the war, we have now come together as one union. I promise that I will try my utmost best to improve the lives of each and every resident of this most perfect union, regardless of race, gender, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, gender identity, wealth, social class, or national origin! You have given my party the mandate to rule, now I will fulfill your desires!"

His party's victory in the elections also marked a new point in security. Previous administrations hadn't handled national security very well, with certain organizations running rampant for weeks on end. The new administration, was much more open to new ideas, and with connections to major defense companies, was willing to try out new weapons on such groups as well.

The televised press conference was about to begin for President Sabrina Solovyova. The video recording was almost unnecessary, since the short speech had already been transmitted to the entire population of the Communist Union. The responses were overwhelmingly positive, so Sabrina Solovyova was confident during the video press conference, which was set up for the benefit of foreign nations without telepathic communication.

"Citizens, comrades, workers of the world. Today is a great day for the Communist Union. New Year's Eve 2100 marks the completion of the Fifth Five Year Plan. Fusion technologies continue to be the pride of the Communist Union. We are exporting fusion reactors to much of the world, and we are hoping that the technology becomes the world's primary source of energy in order to combat worldwide pollution."

"Today is a glorious day for communism and workers everywhere. HIV/AIDS has been one of the most pernicious diseases of the third millennium, but the Communist Union can proudly add the human immunodeficiency virus to the long list of ailments that modern medicine has cured. Medicinal factories are being retooled as I speak to mass produce the new HIV drugs. Full production of the drugs should be ready within the year, at which point they will be freely distributed to all the peoples of the world."

"Where healthcare is guaranteed as a right, the Health Ministry will ship the medicine to said governments free of charge. In nations with little welfare, Communist Party medical missions will distribute the drugs. And where the Communist Party is underground, the Health Ministry will do its best cooperating with whatever charities ARE legal, preferably via left-wing ones like Oxfam."

"The next stage for the world HIV/AIDS movement will be the production of a vaccine for the final elimination of the disease. The Health Ministry predicts it will have completed a vaccine during the Sixth Five year Plan.
