I've been thinking about an old character of mine, one in an RP that died so fast I never really got the chance to flesh out this character. Been wondering about reviving her here.

Basically it's a girl with no idea who she is, has no long term memories, no personality, no emotions, she's in essence a blank slate. She has a fully functional brain but it's like it has gaps and without those gaps being filled, it won't work. The gaps get filled by sound and depending on what sounds she hears she has different emotions, a different personality, she remembers things differently and so forth.

Her powers were sound empowerment and she'd always wear a headset blasting out the same song in a loop to maintain the same personality. In essence she could never hear anything but the music from her headphones but she could absorb soundwaves so wile all her ears could hear was the music from her headphones, in a way her skin heard everything else up to several miles away from her.

EU4 is a great game too. If you get it, snag the extended timeline mod. It extends the timeline from the Roman Empire to modern day.

EU4 is built exactly for the time period it's placed in. It's arguable if it emulates it - the Renaissance and the Enlightenment eras - but all of it's mechanics are built around that.

Meanwhile, Extended Timeline tries to apply that engine to the entire era of time after 50 or so AD.

Do you think American soldiers fighting in Vietnam or Iraq had to siege castles or fort in order to capture a province?

Do you think that Putin could become the general of the Russian Army with the press of a button?

Do you think there were professional standing units in the early Middle Ages?

Do tanks count as cavalry units?

That's what I'm talking about. It's mechanically ahistorical. If you're into that, go wild.

Thx, I do feel like she needs to start with someone else as her personality shifts with the music she hears and someone has to have chosen the first song. So I feel like my opening post would just be her lying in a catatonic state somewhere, maybe even covered in rubble and dirt or even buried or so (her powers that keep her alive and healthy, they don't need to be activated they're always active. I forgot the term for it.).

Would be fun for someone to find her, discoves that wile she seems dead, she's just in an extremely deep coma (or trance) that resembles death. And then finds a way to wake her up, either accidentally (radio in the room) or discovering what's "wrong" with her.

In that regard, you are completely correct. I personally just enjoy being able to sample the other time periods in some capacity.
