Yup, to bad Trunks was conceived before Vegeta actually could go SS negating that thought. Also that's a fan theory so can't be taken serious either. Akira litteraly said, they could go SS because he wanted them to be relative to the plot.

Simply saying it's a continuation means there is no ss2, it's just a fancy lookins ss.

And saying getting stronger is the result of training (which you basically say is the reason for ss3) is a really poor explenation for a transformation.

I get the stage where their muscles grow bigger to make it so they can handle the power.

But is SS3 is basically the same thing just more advanced it just makes it sound to me like that giant amount of hair isn't hair but msucle tissue. And if so they should punch with it.

Currently there's two versions: World War Max and Ragnarok War Max. WW Max is the one that killed Shazam and Wonder Girl, whereas RW Max (our Max) is getting ready to fight New Gods and Galactus.

Edit: Also, there's a Saiyan going to face of against a Doomsday infested Kryptonian? I don't see that lasting long tbh.

The New Gods and Galactus stand against Good Max thinking he's going to the Nexus of All Realities to absorb it and become multiversal. He's actually going there to disconnect our reality from the Nexus so that Bad Max (Darkstar) doesn't come. The Living Tribunal shows up and Max thinks he's gotta fight him too, but LT is like "No. I'm here to tell you that you're too late."

In terms of what? Powers? Personality? I think we could use a magic user, maybe someone with long range attacks. Personality and trope wise, we could probably use a standoffish type, or a more cheery over friendly type. The latter is probably more needed since Mars will kind of fit the first role.
