I should mention that while Gabriel is mostly right-brained and deals with vague conceptual and/ or philosophical stuff, he has invented one silly gadget. He calls it a "wrist breaker", and it is basically the hidden blade/ gun from Assassin's Creed II but with a larger variety of attachments (not all of them can be attached at once). It is a gauntlet that has a ballistic blade, a small wheel lock pistol, a mini-crossbow that can fire bolts or a grappling hook, adjustable sights, a built-in candle holder, and a built-in combination sundial/ compass.

He built it because he is a very poor swordsman and also wanted something more discreet to protect himself with. Most of the gadgets are fairly unreliable and often fail to function as expected.

Like every noble of the Vemid Empire, he was able to manipulate one of the four elements, fire in his case, and use its magic. The fire he was creating and using was bright white, so he gained the nickname "Brightflame" He finished his training after 3 years, and joined the Vemid Imperial Forces.
Secretly, his brother was planning to kill the Emperor and take the power. Using the the discontent of the people, he managed to instigate a revolt. The rebels, led by him personally, attacked the Imperial Palace. The Emperor and his daughters were killed. In this whole time, Alexander was serving in a village at the borders of the empire. Hearing the news, he hurried together with his dragon back to Imperial Palace. Nobody know exactly what happened there, but Alexander was wounded, and his dragon was killed. Whatever happened there brought him on the edge of insanity and also damaged his ability to control the fire. The fire he was using now was black, wild, and hard to control. He accidentally burned a few villages once.
Alexander hid his past, changed his name, and became an assassin, wanting revenge.

By the way Anarchic, I don't think my guy is really a mage, in his bio the warrior/Assassin order he comes from gives all their graduates very basic magical abilities during the dark and secret ritual that signifies their elevation to full member of the Order. It only really lets them do sensory spells, like the one I did in IC, minor illusion spells, and maybe a few other things we don't know about yet.

The Night Angel ability is part of the ritual as well, and is a specialty of the Order, most of them get it, but it's a very temperamental kind of ability and members try and only use it in extreme situations (Or if they're masters of the Order). Because it can either kill them or leave them to weak to defend themselves once they deactivate it.

Maybe this does make him a mage, I'm not sure. Hope I explained that well.
