Fishing and industries related to the sea are very important, and the Danes are known to be a seafaring people. Denmark is also involved in the lucrative cotton and sugar trades through her colony in the West Indies. Denmark’s primary exports are fish, whaling oil, and sugar, and her primary imports are manufactured goods, machinery, and coal.

History: Modern Denmark emerged in 1524, after the dissolution of the Kalmar Union. At the time, Denmark included Denmark proper, Norway, and Iceland (a small colony in Greenland had failed many years ago). Denmark-Norway, as this state was commonly called, quickly established itself as a regional power. In 1660, an absolute monarchy was created by King Frederick III. It was also in the 17th century that Denmark reached its golden age, reestablishing its Greenland colony, and establishing new colonies in India, the West Indies, and West Africa’s Gold Coast. However, around this time, the rise of Sweden caused much concern among the Danes.

In 1700, Denmark-Norway formed an alliance with Poland-Lithuania, Saxony, and Russia; this new alliance quickly launched an attack on Swedish territories in Livonia. The Swedish king, Charles XII, proved to be a cunning general, and Denmark-Norway was his first target. After invading Zealand with a massive army, Denmark agreed to peace in August of that same year. Denmark-Norway was able to escape the Great Northern War unscathed for now, and Charles XII’s defeat by Russian forces at the Battle of Poltava caused much glee throughout Dano-Norwegian lands. However, in 1714, Charles escaped from exile in Constantinople and regained the Swedish throne. While a Charles’s first invasion of Norway in 1716 ended in failure due to Charles’s lack of heavy artillery, a second invasion in 1718 resulted in Charles rapidly capturing the major forts and cities of Norway. The Treaty of Uppsala ended the war on terms favorable to Sweden, with all of Norway being ceded to King Charles XII.

After the Treaty of Uppsala, regaining Norway became a perennial goal for many Danish monarchs, with the rivalry between Sweden and Denmark becoming even bitterer. In the face of Swedish power, Denmark sought closer relations with Russia, and also turned to Western nations such as France for help, with limited success.

Major change came in 1784. In that year, Crown Prince Frederick became regent for his mentally ill father, King Christian VII. With the assistance of Chief Minister Andreas Peter Bernstorff, Frederick launched liberal reforms, including the abolition of serfdom in 1788, the loosening of press restrictions in 1789, granting religious freedom to Jews in 1791, and the introduction of a parliament (the Folketing) in 1792. Frederick also reasserted royal authority in the colonies, and stationed more troops in all of Denmark’s colonies.

During this time, General Napoleon Bonaparte rose to prominence in France, becoming First Consul in 1795. Frederick, seeing the new French Republic as rising power that could genuinely help Denmark, concluded an alliance with France in November of 1795.

Now, new opportunities await Denmark. Denmark’s ties to Revolutionary France is displeasing to many powers, primarily Britain, whose Royal Navy is a mighty force to be reckoned with. With Norway still an attractive target to the Danish ruling elite, will France step up to help Denmark regain her former prominence? Or will Napoleon’s thirst for military glory bring ruin to both Denmark and France? Only time will tell, and for now, the Danes merely watch world events in anticipation of what may come next.

History: When Victor Amadeus III ascended to the Throne of Sardinia-Piedmonte in 1773, he did so with an innovative outlook for his demesne. He enacted the 4-Army Military Organisation policy, alongside cultural state institutions and the establishment of the first royal charter, which in turn manifested into a constitution later during his reign. With the Peace of Westphalia securing Switzerlands independence from the Empire, Amadeus pursued a policy of canton aggravation, which pitted the independent cantons against each other, playing on their cultural, and especially religious differences to achieve a fractured Switzerland. Victor Ammadeus particularly favoured the canton of Valais, going so far as to support the canton in its conflicts to the north. Valais eventually began a client state (more of a vassal), and through this proxy Sardinia poured enough resources and support into Valais so that by 1792 the whole of Switzerland was under the direct or indirect influence of the Savoyard state.

Because of this northward focus, Amadeus never granted hospitality to his sons-in-law, and also steered Sardinia-Piedmonte clear of a war with revolutionary France, a conflict which would have savaged the kingdom. The island of Sardinia itself was ceded to the spanish, a sign of the kingdom's new stance concerning it's place in the European mainland, although several port expansions in Liguria and Nice saw limited growth in the Savoyard Navy. When Victor Amadeus III died in late 1795, he left the realm in a precarious state. Galvanised into action, his son and heir, Charles Emmanuel IV, sought the support of the Swiss cantons in establishing nominal status as part of a Dual-Kingdom. He was officially crowned a week before the turn of the year, as King Charles Emmanuel IV of Piedmonte-Swisse, Lord of the Dual-kingdom and Duke of Savoy.

Army: The Swedish Army consists of 60,000 men, divided into three corps of 20K men each. One is based at Stockholm, to defend the capital. One is based in Helsinki to protect Finland from potential Russian aggression, while the third is based just northeast of Christiania in Norway. The Swedes have a highly trained and professional force, one that has seen considerable combat in this century. Where the Dual Kingdom struggles is logistics. While it has no trouble supplying the active portions of it's army with the necessary munitions, foodstuffs and winter clothing necessary to fight a prolonged war, the 90,000 reservists it can call up during wartime often lack proper shoes or uniforms. Oftentimes the armaments the reservists carry is a hodgepodge of hunting pieces and guns actually produced by gunsmiths for the army. This can make logistical coordination among the reserve regiments difficult, and the shortage of proper equipment is sure to be a morale drain, especially in winter. Swedes make up about half of the infantry regiments, while Norwegians make up the other half. The artillery regiments are almost wholly Swedish, while the Finns provide most of the cavalry.

Navy: The Navy of the Dual Kingdom is something that the country takes great pride in. Descended from the powerful force that existed under the reign of Gustavus Adolphus, the Navy is not as powerful as it once was and with a greater Russian presence in the Baltic, can no longer enforce the Swedish Mare Nostrum Balticum that existed in the 17th century. Still, it is a formidable force in the Baltic at least, able to match Denmark and Russia, and one that maintains a highly professional officer corps, also benefiting greatly from Scandinavian experience in shipbuilding.

Prime exports include Swedish iron destined for markets in Southern Europe, and Norwegian fish of several varieties that is in great demand across much of Europe. Prominent shipbuilding magnates are happy to take on contracts from the highest bidders.

History: The death of the Swedish Empire came in the Great Northern War, a defeat which was all the more crushing considering Sweden's wildly successful start to the war and its resounding early victories at the First Battle of Narva, at Klissow, Pultusk and Fraudstadt. After Sweden's eventual defeat in 1721, the kingdom was forced to cede Bremen-Verden and its territories in Pommerania. Estonia, Livonia and Ingria were ceded to Russia.

Brief Description of your Economy: Spain's economy is one of the largest in Europe, and has seen a large amount of growth in the past few decades, thanks to the reforms and doctrine of King Carlos III. History: The history of Spain begins in 1230, when the Kingdoms of Leon, Castile, and Galicia were united under the House of Ivrea, into a single Kingdom of Castile. This marked the beginning of what would one day be Spain. The House of Ivrea would expand their holdings into Valencia, Navarre, and Toledo, and created the foundations for a united Spain. They would rule until 1330, when they were overthrown by the House of Trastamara, uniting the Crowns of Castile and Aragon into a single kingdom, Espana. The House of Trastamara would oversee the greatest period of expansion in Spain's history, pushing out the Muslim Berbers during the Reconquista, and founding colonies in the Americas upon its discovery in 1492. The House of Trastamara also established the Great Bank of Madrid, inherited holdings in Burgundy and Sicily, and annexed the island of Sardinia in 1543, as well as attempting an invasion of Portugal, though it would ultimately fail.

The House would be all but spent, however, and in 1557, when extinct in the male line, leaving the House of Castro to inherit their holdings. The House of Castro rose from a major house in the old lands of Leon, to the most powerful royal bloodline in Europe in just a matter of days. They would expand Spain's influence and wealth, exploiting the huge reserves of resources in its colonies. The House of Castro established the Royal Spanish Navy in 1560, uniting the huge Trastamara Fleets into one, and continuing a long tradition of naval genius. They also organized the vast colonies of Spain into the Viceroyalties, and expanded their holdings into the Netherlands, Germany, and Italy. For decades Spain was Europe's leading power, but this would not always be. In 1601 a small series of famines in the North gripped the populace. Thousands moved away from the North towards the South, and this migration left the cities of Burgos, Barcelona, Bilbao, Valladolid, and Zaragoza weakened. Meanwhile many of those Northerners would left, moved to the cities of Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, Cadiz, and Granada. The famine was bad enough, but in 1613, the Great Bank of Madrid was burned down by Catholic fanatics, who viewed usury as a sin, and huge amounts of money were lost, putting Spanish merchants, aristocrats, and the Crown in poor financial situations.

When the House of Castro attempted to tax the churches, the Pope nearly excommunicated King Philip IV, and Spain went to war against a coalition of Austria, France, Portugal, and Savoy. The war left Spain weak, and then the Thirties Year War hit, and Spain once again lost, its power and prestige reduced. By this time the House of Castro had grown smaller, many its members having died in the Thirties Year War. The current King, Carlos II, was ill, and had only one son. He married off that son into the House of Bourbon, and promised that if he or his son should die, a Bourbon would be allowed to take the throne, should the succession of both countries be separated. King Louis XIV took him up on his offer, and when, in 1699, his son died of smallpox, Louis pushed forth his claim. Carlos honoured his claim, and when he died in 1702, had the throne passed on to Louis's grandson, Philip, would be Philip V of Spain. His succession to the throne caused a war that would last nearly thirteen years, the Spanish War of Succession. The war was bloody and while Philip was king in the end, Spain had lost its holdings in the Netherlands, France, Germany, and Italy, with only Spain proper and Sardinia, as well as its colonies remaining.

The new Spanish House of Bourbon took control with a firm hand, and began to rebuild the war torn country. The Bourbons launched new reforms, efficiently built up the economy, and reorganized the armies and navy of Spain. They weakened the power of the Church, established a new bureaucracy, formed the provincial system of Spain, and remodeled the old cities of Madrid, Barcelona, Cadiz, and Seville. Philip V would rule until 1749, and his reforms helped Spain recover, and these reforms were further continued under Ferdinand VI, and taken to a new level under Carlos III. Under Carlos, Spain would fully recover from the problems of old, and once again Spain would return to the status of a 1st World Power. He reinforced the military might of Spain, launching a new campaign to increase the naval capabilities of the Spanish Empire. A series of drydocks, naval schools, and new bases created a strong naval infrastructure. Carlos also stimulated the commercial relations between Spain and its colonies, expanding its markets and launching a new laissez-faire policy. By far his most important reform was the establishment of a new central bank, the Bank of San Carlos, and modernizing the economy, using Spain's wealth to reinvigorate growth. Carlos would continue to make reforms, and his reign is arguably the most successful of any Spanish king. When he died in 1789, he left his heir, Carlos IV, with a new and modernized Spain, with a great destiny ahead of it.

Brief Description of your Economy: Wallachia has a very agriculturally-centred economy, with small industries in mining and logging. It also boasts a strong fishing business in the Danube, which is one of the country's main pieces of infrastructure.

History: During the uprising period of 1703-1711 within the Kingdom of Hungary, Transylvania and Wallachia were declared an independant kingdom by the Wallachian noble Constantin Brâncoveanu, who established himself as king with the support of other local nobles who shared his view on the Habsburgs. This led to a three-way civil war, in which Brâncoveanu was slain in battle, which in turn led to a power struggle within the newly-founded kingdom. These many lords continued their petty wars for several years, during which they were each slowly eliminated by the Habsburgs, who were able to secure Transylvania despite heavy resistance.
During this time, the people of Wallachia had grown tired of their tyrant lords, which resulted in the 1709 Massacre, in which the entirety of the Wallachian nobility were executed and the Wallachian Republic declared by Vlad Țepeș. By the time that the Habsburg forces reached Wallachia, tied and battered from their long war, they were met with the impaled, bloody corpses of the Wallachian nobility; men, women and children alike. Seeing this, the Austrians turned back and left the Wallachians alone, returning to Vienna with the intention of returning at a later date. But as time passed, Austria's power dwindled, and the 'playground' of Europe kept them too occupied to turn their attention to the Wallachians, thus leaving them in peace.
Now, almost 90 years later, the Wallachians have developed a state of self-sustenance, with everyone living a relatively good life and being treated as equals, as 'civil rights paradise', if you will. All men are given the vote, from soldier to fisherman, and all Wallachians have the right to bear arms, leading to a de facto guerrilla defense force across the country, apart from the standing army. And now the air in Europe has changed, with the French and Dutch following the example of the Wallachians and forming new Republics across Europe. Now, in these dark times, Europe will be forged anew, with the fall of tyrants and the birth of freedom emerging through Fire and Steel.

History: When Victor Amadeus III ascended to the Throne of Sardinia-Piedmonte in 1773, he did so with an innovative outlook for his demesne. He enacted the 4-Army Military Organisation policy, alongside cultural state institutions and the establishment of the first royal charter, which in turn manifested into a constitution later during his reign. With the Peace of Westphalia securing Switzerlands independence from the Empire, Amadeus pursued a policy of canton aggravation, which pitted the independent cantons against each other, playing on their cultural, and especially religious differences to achieve a fractured Switzerland. Victor Ammadeus particularly favoured the canton of Valais, going so far as to support the canton in its conflicts to the north. Valais eventually began a client state (more of a vassal), and through this proxy Sardinia poured enough resources and support into Valais so that by 1792 the whole of Switzerland was under the direct or indirect influence of the Savoyard state.

Because of this northward focus, Amadeus never granted hospitality to his sons-in-law, and also steered Sardinia-Piedmonte clear of a war with revolutionary France, a conflict which would have savaged the kingdom. The island of Sardinia itself was ceded to the spanish, a sign of the kingdom's new stance concerning it's place in the European mainland, although several port expansions in Liguria and Nice saw limited growth in the Savoyard Navy. When Victor Amadeus III died in late 1795, he left the realm in a precarious state. Galvanised into action, his son and heir, Charles Emmanuel IV, sought the support of the Swiss cantons in establishing nominal status as part of a Dual-Kingdom. He was officially crowned a week before the turn of the year, as King Charles Emmanuel IV of Piedmonte-Swisse, Lord of the Dual-kingdom and Duke of Savoy.

Army: The Swedish Army consists of 60,000 men, divided into three corps of 20K men each. One is based at Stockholm, to defend the capital. One is based in Helsinki to protect Finland from potential Russian aggression, while the third is based just northeast of Christiania in Norway. The Swedes have a highly trained and professional force, one that has seen considerable combat in this century. Where the Dual Kingdom struggles is logistics. While it has no trouble supplying the active portions of it's army with the necessary munitions, foodstuffs and winter clothing necessary to fight a prolonged war, the 90,000 reservists it can call up during wartime often lack proper shoes or uniforms. Oftentimes the armaments the reservists carry is a hodgepodge of hunting pieces and guns actually produced by gunsmiths for the army. This can make logistical coordination among the reserve regiments difficult, and the shortage of proper equipment is sure to be a morale drain, especially in winter. Swedes make up about half of the infantry regiments, while Norwegians make up the other half. The artillery regiments are almost wholly Swedish, while the Finns provide most of the cavalry.

Navy: The Navy of the Dual Kingdom is something that the country takes great pride in. Descended from the powerful force that existed under the reign of Gustavus Adolphus, the Navy is not as powerful as it once was and with a greater Russian presence in the Baltic, can no longer enforce the Swedish Mare Nostrum Balticum that existed in the 17th century. Still, it is a formidable force in the Baltic at least, able to match Denmark and Russia, and one that maintains a highly professional officer corps, also benefiting greatly from Scandinavian experience in shipbuilding.

This marked the beginning of what would one day be Spain. The House of Ivrea would expand their holdings into Valencia, Navarre, and Toledo, and created the foundations for a united Spain. They would rule until 1330, when they were overthrown by the House of Trastamara, uniting the Crowns of Castile and Aragon into a single kingdom, Espana. The House of Trastamara would oversee the greatest period of expansion in Spain's history, pushing out the Muslim Berbers during the Reconquista, and founding colonies in the Americas upon its discovery in 1492. The House of Trastamara also established the Great Bank of Madrid, inherited holdings in Burgundy and Sicily, and annexed the island of Sardinia in 1543, as well as attempting an invasion of Portugal, though it would ultimately fail.

The House would be all but spent, however, and in 1557, when extinct in the male line, leaving the House of Castro to inherit their holdings. The House of Castro rose from a major house in the old lands of Leon, to the most powerful royal bloodline in Europe in just a matter of days. They would expand Spain's influence and wealth, exploiting the huge reserves of resources in its colonies. The House of Castro established the Royal Spanish Navy in 1560, uniting the huge Trastamara Fleets into one, and continuing a long tradition of naval genius. They also organized the vast colonies of Spain into the Viceroyalties, and expanded their holdings into the Netherlands, Germany, and Italy. For decades Spain was Europe's leading power, but this would not always be. In 1601 a small series of famines in the North gripped the populace. Thousands moved away from the North towards the South, and this migration left the cities of Burgos, Barcelona, Bilbao, Valladolid, and Zaragoza weakened. Meanwhile many of those Northerners would left, moved to the cities of Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, Cadiz, and Granada. The famine was bad enough, but in 1613, the Great Bank of Madrid was burned down by Catholic fanatics, who viewed usury as a sin, and huge amounts of money were lost, putting Spanish merchants, aristocrats, and the Crown in poor financial situations.

When the House of Castro attempted to tax the churches, the Pope nearly excommunicated King Philip IV, and Spain went to war against a coalition of Austria, France, Portugal, and Savoy. The war left Spain weak, and then the Thirties Year War hit, and Spain once again lost, its power and prestige reduced. By this time the House of Castro had grown smaller, many its members having died in the Thirties Year War. The current King, Carlos II, was ill, and had only one son. He married off that son into the House of Bourbon, and promised that if he or his son should die, a Bourbon would be allowed to take the throne, should the succession of both countries be separated. King Louis XIV took him up on his offer, and when, in 1699, his son died of smallpox, Louis pushed forth his claim. Carlos honoured his claim, and when he died in 1702, had the throne passed on to Louis's grandson, Philip, would be Philip V of Spain. His succession to the throne caused a war that would last nearly thirteen years, the Spanish War of Succession. The war was bloody and while Philip was king in the end, Spain had lost its holdings in the Netherlands, France, Germany, and Italy, with only Spain proper and Sardinia, as well as its colonies remaining.

The new Spanish House of Bourbon took control with a firm hand, and began to rebuild the war torn country. The Bourbons launched new reforms, efficiently built up the economy, and reorganized the armies and navy of Spain. They weakened the power of the Church, established a new bureaucracy, formed the provincial system of Spain, and remodeled the old cities of Madrid, Barcelona, Cadiz, and Seville. Philip V would rule until 1749, and his reforms helped Spain recover, and these reforms were further continued under Ferdinand VI, and taken to a new level under Carlos III. Under Carlos, Spain would fully recover from the problems of old, and once again Spain would return to the status of a 1st World Power. He reinforced the military might of Spain, launching a new campaign to increase the naval capabilities of the Spanish Empire. A series of drydocks, naval schools, and new bases created a strong naval infrastructure. Carlos also stimulated the commercial relations between Spain and its colonies, expanding its markets and launching a new laissez-faire policy. By far his most important reform was the establishment of a new central bank, the Bank of San Carlos, and modernizing the economy, using Spain's wealth to reinvigorate growth. Carlos would continue to make reforms, and his reign is arguably the most successful of any Spanish king. When he died in 1789, he left his heir, Carlos IV, with a new and modernized Spain, with a great destiny ahead of it.

Roughly half a million less in population. You have a history conflicting with that of the Prussian player in regards to Pommerania and it would be necessary for your application to mention how you gained Norway.
