Araska, how exactly is petrochem a giant in cybernetic or armaments trade? You don't have weapons factories, or even weapons departments for that matter. You don't have computer factories, or departments for them either. Yours is chemicals based, and the once suit you did make is made from inflexible building material. Its garbage. The weapons game is not for you...

Petrochem isn't Cybernetics or arms.

IEC is. And I think you are neglecting how superior their armaments are to yours. Laminated Epoxide is laminated kevlon(TM), steel, and ceramet(TM), as the term itself is generic to a degree. It's hard armour meant to provide extreme protection for short amounts of time.

Your using vehicle metal as armor? Remember the whole knights in like a crap tone of armor thing and how they got really tired really fast? My stuff is light weight and offers the same protection. Also, we have supreme communications amongst all troops, yours does not offer that either.

Also, how did the "International Electrotechnical Commission" go from a non profit organization to a weapons company?

IEC stands for International Electric Corporation, thank you very much. Some things share acronyms, thank you.

And Metal Gear(TM) is meant for short term use, as our PR team has stated many times. We are currently working on a powered version using the linear frame technology found in ACPA.

Of The Rnclave wrote:And War is a lot more precise now, and Armies are at max 150,000 in size in modern nations. Soldiers are closer to knights nowadays.

Couple of reasons: The first being that economic interconnection, while not a deterrent to war, is a deterrent to completely destroying your enemy to the point where you can't trade with them when the war is over. Therefore, smaller, more precise uses of force are preferable to large conventional armies. Next there is the cost of deploying such a large force world-wide; humans need food, shelter, creature comforts and continue to consume even when they aren't fighting; and we only need a few humans to secure strategic points if our goal is not to completely destroy the enemy. Drones can handle the tedium of occupation and patrolling that a large force is largely used for, limiting the need for a large human presence. Finally, and this is no small issue: Lowering birthrates and the end of a three century long population boom is going to fundamentally change the way people think about everything. From the economy (housing markets exist primarily on the assumption that there will always be more buyers than sellers), to warfare: fewer people being born = fewer soldiers. So you have to do more with less.

Huh... That's what they thought in 1914 too!

Maybe this RP can actually run like 1914. Everyone agrees that the era of big wars is over. Everyone agrees that conflicts are now economic, not military.

Then this big, devastating, total war pops out of nowhere.

Can we do it, OP? Pleeeeeeeeeeease? :p

Any thoughts on this idea?

Do I do the military part? I'm not entirely sure just how autonomous Texas is. I doubt it is autonomous enough to have a notable military, though I would like that, but I don't want to erase all of it without getting word first to.

Total war would be cool, but with the world economy the way it is, and birth rates way down, like one child at most for families, the World couldn't handle it. There will be wars though

Umm inflate the National guard, 5,000 men is a lot in this day and age, and its a greater degree of autonomy , allowing you to work as a real nation does, deploying troops and so on

Now, while you two are tearing each other over heavy infantry equipment, I'm just going to sit here and bask in Skoda's total superiority in motorized vehicles, from an armored car to the medium tank.

Hmm... In that case, I need to start developing heavy tanks as well. More firepower per soldier.

I guess that'll have to wait until after I finish absorbing Skoda Auto and its insane automotive expertise.

Armor, check. Rifle, check. Tank, check.

Hmm... Skoda might want to develop its own line of carriers. Our rifle isn't that impressive, either.
