Actually it say´s Early pre-classic started around 3000 b.c. with the first settlements in that area and the first ruins of supposedly Mayan culture that were found are from 2000 b.c.
On the German Wikipedia.
I don´t have textbook like you, Mayas don´t seem to be as interesting to included in a German textbook. ^^
And as far as I´m aware the content on Wikipedia is taken from other sources as well and it has to be aproved by others before it´s published.
