Education is nice, but it won't fill bellies or keep back bandits. Writing, a calendar, a code of laws- those are long term objectives.

Sure, that's cool. There's a lad up in central Mexico, but that shouldn't bother you.

Well... Wikip. says preclassic lasted from aprox. 3000 B.C. until 900 A.D.

My college textbook here says 2600 BC was the origin point of the Mayans. Also never trust Wikipedia on topics like origin times of civs that dies before the rest of the world had met them. It's unreliable as many dire the sources can edit it. There may have been a tribe called the Maya in 3000 BC but I wouldn't be the Maya your thinking of.

Actually it say´s Early pre-classic started around 3000 b.c. with the first settlements in that area and the first ruins of supposedly Mayan culture that were found are from 2000 b.c.

And as far as I´m aware the content on Wikipedia is taken from other sources as well and it has to be aproved by others before it´s published.

Only on certain articles of high controversy. The rest of it is free edit unless a admin takes it down. Like I said the Maya may have been around but they would not be the Maya your thinking of.

Yes it is but it can take a while to do this because it's not like you have world class experts on the topic or admins trawling through every topic everyday. It can take anywhere from an hour to a year to correct something on Wikipedia.

But would that fit? I was planning on having a scientific/cultural/social civ instead of a warlike one like everyone else is picking. I wouldn't mind working with someone, but I don't want to hijack whatever you have planned if I want something different.

Well, since the first Mayan ruins are dated back to 2000 b.c. I´ll be working with the ancestors of the Mayan civilization. :B ^^

As for your expansion plans, how about we share borders in the west of Yucatan? I´d go east and you west from this point.
