Zara had been staring at me for the past ten minutes... I have no clue why, I nudged her with my foot a couple times, tried talking to her, but no reaction whatsoever... I hope she wasn't having a stroke. I took another swig of beer to find the bottle empty, I threw it to the side and continued to stare into the forest, 'I should probably look for a rifle soon.'
OOC: Crud, sorry, missed the response... had been looking for it too

"Hmm... sorry." Zara had been lost in thought for a few moments, "Her soul glows does it? Well Hussar is right. She is from another place. Apparently it diverged from ours shortly after the Second World War. The Chinese won in Korea, properly won, drove the United Nations back into the Sea. As a consequence McCarthyism was ten times worse and ushered in an ultra-nationalist Dictatorship with a siege mentality. Alice was one of their cops. She did whatever she was ordered to do and did it well, initially without questioning... though the kernel of what she is now was already planted and after a few years it germinated and she began to become troubled with who she was, what she was doing. She did not quit, but when the resistance fighters came for her, she let them take her."
She paused, taking a swig from her beer, "I don't know the details, but it seems she was tortured and humiliated for several days before they decided to execute her using some new weapon that was supposed to completely disintegrate her and leave no evidence. Next thing she remembers she is waking up in a different New York and she has these funny powers. If you ask me, her amnesia was her way of coping with what was done to her when she was a captive, but it also gave the side of her with a conscience a chance to flourish, dominate and more or less annihilate the darker side... Or maybe a broken thing was reforged into something better, I am no psychologist."
"She isn't looking to atone, she atoned in the resistance camp. Now she is trying to make that count." Zara took another long swig from her bottle, "She knows she will make it harder to win by taking the moral high ground, but to her being on the high ground matters more than winning."
She laughed dryly, "Which is a very long winded way of saying she isn't as naive as you think. As for my story, take out all the sci-fi and add a backdrop of ethnic cleansing. Zara was a very angry young girl with a chip on her shoulder and a thirst for vengeance. I am mature enough to realize I was perpetuating a cycle. Sometimes you need to let the horror go and work to build a better world. My best friend these days is a Croat... with a silly Australian accent."

Alice frowned, that sounded ominous. She gathered up her will as the door opened... "Alice! You look almost as broken as your house." Came a rather familiar, husky, female voice.
"Laurel?" Alice let her power dissipate. That bad, bad person...
"Of course." she motioned at Alice's leg, "That looks sore. Would you like to trade for healing?"
"That depends. Hypothetically, yes." the fairy hadn't cheated her yet, in fact she had generally been very helpful, that said, she still wasn't going to reveal the child and Cheshire cat impersonator hiding in her cupboard.
Laurel sniffed the air suspiciously, pursing her lips, a thoughtful frown creasing her brow, "I am looking for a file on me that the SCP hold. Alrick said you have it."
"Alrick is making stuff up." Alice replied with a roll of her eyes, "No, I don't have it. I was not even aware the SCP had folders on us until Atlas showed up."
"Think he has it?" she asked.
Alice shrugged, "You are free to ask. He's outside with Agent Delic."
Laurel made an annoyed sound at the back of her throat, "I will check on him. If this file is not here it will greatly inconvenience me. I will still heal you Alice, for friendship sake... and on the condition that you get the file to me as quickly as you are able if it does fall into your hands."
"Sounds fair."
"I will be back soon." to those in the cupboard there was the sound of a door closing as the Aes Sidhe went in search of Atlas.
"Was she what was worrying you?" Alice asked.
