Breaker
Breaker jumped and landed, mildly quiet on the Roof of the Allies Headquarters. he found the person he'd been looking for, "You're the One they call Stealth, Am i correct?"

Stealth pulled out her gun and aimed it at the man.
"Depends who's asking. You are?"

Breaker chuckled,
"they call me Breaker, I have come to you with a proposition that would be benefitial to you and your skills. Also the gun won't do much to Dermal armor"

"What's this proposition?"

"You're still not believing me are you? Hmm... Ah! I know! I'm going to bring Lios, you know him, he doesn't lie to anybody." He said, in a somewhat victorious tone.

"You are not very godly." Laurel commented suspiciously, "Are you sure you aren't just another Layrelis family member? I have not encountered a God who cannot stop talking before."

Laurel did not like most Gods. This one... was clearly insane. Why was he trying to give her cocoa? She hadn't asked for cocoa. What did it want from her? She knew that certain Greek Gods used to prey on isolated nymphs and she felt very isolated right now. "I am the daughter of Alaunus." she said primly, "Do not try to force yourself on me."

The fighting though was starting to peter out, which meant she had a reasonable chance of getting into the building without getting shot and thereby getting the files she needed, "What do you want from me?" she demanded.

'Nanites'.

"Were you one of those people that saved my life in Las Santanas?" she asked, "I thought I recognized you. I owe you my life, and even if I didn't, unlike some people I actually believe in things such as honor and the Geneva convention." she sighed, "Do you want a drink or something? I am feeling really thirsty."

And her leg was throbbing excruciatingly, but she didn't mention that, "I'm not going to press you for details, but why is Cerberus trying to kill me? I don't think I've done anything to piss them off. I have been responsible with my use of powers and worked to put away the dangerous ones."

"We know that. Cerberus has been watching you very closely. But Hartman doesn't care. He's convinced that all Metas are dangerous, and is trying to around up as many as possible, even going against the Agency itself to do it. But now, he's fucked up too badly. The top brass will be furious about this. They might even lock him up for this. But I don't know yet. We'll see." He bowed his head. "I just wish it didn't cost me my men in the process."

"I lost people too." Alice remarked mildly, "And who is this Hartman?"

She gave room for reply before asking her more important questions, "So you followed an order despite your conscience?" She needed to know if he had found this attack regrettable prior to the loss of his comrades. Had he, for whatever reason, wanted her dead, or was he just following orders?

Once again she gave plenty of time for a considered answer before asking, "Personally, what do you think of me?" Alice approved greatly of the man's concern for his troops and she had a plan... but she needed to be sure he as least had a neutral view of her.

The god sighed yet again, she truly wasn't trusting him in the slightest and kept making allusions to Greek gods.

"I'm not very godly because I ascended from human, my brain still mostly thinks like so, except without most quirks. And I'm offering you hot chocolate because I want to be courteous, you can ask Alrick when you'll see him in seven hours from now. Although you can say I was the first of the Lareylis, since I basically gave them the heterochromia they all have. And the only thing I want right now is to help you out, can't a god help someone out? Except the Nordic ones, I've not encountered a single one on this Earth that actually moved his ass to help someone. Human or not."

As she said her last sentence, he took a swig from his own mug.

"Seriously, stop making those allusions to Greek gods, they were the shittiest you could've seen. Nothing but battling on human lands, and at full power no less, I'm sure you've seen them with how much you've lived. Except Athena, she was cool. But anyway... I want nothing from you, I'm just trying to help you out like someone that can actually move his ass. Can't a god be benevolent?"

"That is good to know." Laurel still looked nervous, but she picked the cup up anyway, looking as if she thought it might explode, "Because for all the things you can say of me, when I do enter a relationship I commit to it. Under all the foolishness there is something very decent about Alrick. I care about him and do not want to be the source of his pain."

"I will concede that some deities do help their people, one led it's people out of Egypt... but then you have the Greek ones and the Norse and Carthaginian ones with their love of human sacrifice. The Norse ones enjoyed adding the odd Faie to the mix as well... and compared to some deities those ones were all roses."

She took a hesitant sip of the cocoa, "If you really just want to help, there is something I desperately need." She eyed the God speculatively...

"Ah finally you trust me. And trust me, you're not the source of his pain, it's mostly his past or his regrets about some stuff. But definitely not you, when I saw you two together on the couch, I had never seen him smile as much as he did since he was five. And I can't deny what those pantheons did, the young ones tend to flip a bit more... Oddly enough I'm one of the sanest and less bitchy gods you'll find, despite being as old as this universe, if not more. Although I didn't know the Norse and Carthaginian deities killed the Fae in their 'golden' days.
I'll yell at them later." The god spoke, still smiling, however, his face still carried no seriousness.

"What is it that you want then? If it's documents... Well, I can get them for you. By the way is Oberon still fine? Haven't seen him in a while." He took a swig again.

"You know, you're rather odd for a Fae, in a good way though, at least for Alrick." He weakly smiled however, and his speech was rather grim.

"At least... For the small time he has left..."

When the chocolate didn't poison her or teansport her somewhere odd, Laurel took another sip, "Thank you." she said politely.

"I do want the documents, but I can do that myself, it is not complicated and it would be a lot less traumatic for people if I did." She paused, "What I want is sonething to protect me from bullets that is better than this vest of mine." She unzipped her jacket to show off the bronze scales, "These modern guns are too fast firing. I am probably less likely to survive a firefight than the average mortal when military rounds are used."

She gave a sad smile at the last comment, "I know he is doomed - Heamet spoke of him as long passed when first I met him. But all things die. I have long since learned that all great joy eventually brings great pain. I will be hurt, but that is alright. I would rather that than isolate myself forever."

He nodded at her request and gave her his coat, before she could speak, he explained.

"It's way more bulletproof than anything you can possibly imagine, I'm lending it to you but I'd suggest you give it back to me once you're done, the bloke upstairs won't like it if you use something that OP, he already tried nerfing the Lareylis and sent them on a deserted island, so I'm not especially keen on sending you there without your powers or equipment. Unless you want to see Alrick." He kicked back against the roof tiles and stretched.

"Although, there may be a way he can cheat death. "Firstly, I don't know what 'oh-pee' is but I'm certain I haven't contracted it. I'm assuming 'nerfing' is something sexual and I think I've already made myself clear on that." Laurel did not speak video-game.

"And no... I don't want the coat." she gave the godling an askance look, "You really aren't very good at this. You are not supposed to give people a device so that they win, you give them something so that their chances of success are not zero. The rest is up to the champion. If you make things too easy you don't create a hero, you create what the Saxons would call a 'nob-head' with too much power who knows nothing of what it means to be human. You don't create a world full of people ready to stand for anything, you create a world full of indolent wastrels."

It was perhaps a bit cheeky for a Faie to give a lecture on godhood, but then again, they were probably much more accomplished manipulators of mortal affairs than most deities. Laurel had certainly done her bit over the centuries.

"Anyway, nobody is going to shoot me now." she added, "I do not think so, at any rate... and I don't want to be invincible, that would be boring.. and incredibly gauche. I only want something to restore the natural balance."

Alice was still reading the agent's mind, which to him would probably just look like an unusually intense stare, "I have an offer for you. I tried very hard out there not to kill any of your men - the others probably didn't, but I know there are quite a few wounded. I will tend to them, and any who are healthy enough may leave. The dead will be returned to your organisation for burial or return to their families. No retribution for this attack. It is forgiven."

"in return, I want you to go to whoever is the highest person you can speak with and tell them this. Hartman should be held responsible, I want him incarcerated, but I want to be able to talk to him. Because one day he might come to realize that attacks like this don't protect people from Meta-humans, but they do make the Meta-humans angrier and some of us will lash out."

"Tell them that our goals are the same." she added, "And that I would like to give them my résumé. Get rid of Hartman and bring me in to replace him. I have resources at my disposal and a proven track record. The only thing they need to be aware of is the fact that I do the right thing. Always. No compromise. I will execute a dangerous Meta if they cannot be contained and I will not lose any sleep over it." she paused, letting him mull that over, mostly so she could read what he was thinking before saying, "You are free to go whenever you like. I believe you are a good man that did the wrong thing. I don't imprison good men."

Stone

Stone looked slightly dismayed at her words.

"Stop thinking I'm a godling please, I'm way older and have been a god for way longer than you've lived. Two, OP is an acronym for Over Powered, and nerfing is basically the counter to that, it's taking something and giving it weaknesses, although what the bloke upstairs said to nerf them up was basically useless since they already tire over what they do, it's simply willpower that brings them through. Three, if you don't want the coat just use this." He unsheathed his sword from his back.

"Here. The only thing is that it's unbreakable, nothing fancy, nothing magical, just make it spin and you'll manage to deflect most bullets, no refunds, take it." He forced the blade into her hands and sat back down.
"And what do you mean restore the natural balance? It's perfectly fine, except that little slaughter Alrick had to manage to get your favors. Although I'll have you know that Teos is not a place full of nob-heads as you say, and it's extremely dangerous for anyone to even leave the main towns because anything could attack you and if you don't have martial training or inherent powers, you're dead.
And not everyone has powers. There must be like ten families in each country that have powers, not counting the branches, and there are only six countries."

Sure, that'll modify Alrick's future, but since he is absolute shut in, it'll change nothing to history as long as Heamet's parents don't know he's alive. Also... In that case... Heamet may be much closer than a grandson. It's only possibility though. And I can't really guarantee it."

Talion Union wrote:"Hartman is one of the agencies commanders, but he's.....a little overzealous in his hatred of Meta-humans. He'll use whatever excuse he can to send teams after somebody."

"I follow orders. I believe that Cerberus can do good. Our mission is to protect the good, help Metas understand their powers, and lock away those that abuse their powers. Its just a shame that they're are people like Hartman in the organization...."

"Well, based off his you've used your powers, and your previous cooperation with Cerberus....well, I wouldn't be the only person in the Agency that holds you in high regard."

Fox-1 stood up and saluted Alice. "Ms. Kosa, it would be an honor." He finally broke the salute. He paused for a moment. "Hartman will be lucky if he even was the inside of a cell at this rate. Cerberus takes this kind of thing very seriously. But, I'll ask that they keep him alive, if it helps."

Elsewhere, Hartman was reviewing reports from his Operators. He was on the hunt for the assassin, and his plan to capture the one person who he was close to failed miserably. "That damned Assassin....always one step ahead...." He was desperate. He'd been hunting Uylsses for years. "I'm gonna catch that monster at any cost."

She held it somewhat awkwardly, "Umm... can I have the scabbard please so I can put it away? Approaching that house with a drawn blade seems like a recipe for a misunderstanding."

"I'll have one of my people escort you to make sure there are no misunderstandings." Alice said, looking slightly embarrassed at the salute, "I am sure you know how to reach me."

"As for Hartman." she added as he turned to leave, "I'm sure he had his reasons and they seemed justified to him at the time... Shane, could you make sure our guest gets out of here safely?"

The man in the powered-armor nodded, "I will." he said gravely, leading Fox-1 out a different route to the garage where a very sensible looking black Volvo four wheel drive was parked alongside a series of much less sensible cars. The Volvo had dark tinted windows and unusually heavy doors when they were opened - it was armored. They were joined a few minutes later by a pair of Aegis guards who didn't look quite so enthusiastic about the idea of letting Fox-1 go... though nobody questioned Kosa's orders.

Mr. Grin stalked outside the mansion, looking inward. Clark was nearby, playing in the grass, oblivious. "Mr. Grin, I'm hungry!" Clark tugged his sleeve. "Mr. Grin placed a finger against its 'lips', then snuck into the house, in search of food.

Los Santana, Destroyer

Black HAnd drove the destroyer down past the ruins of Old Los Santana, he got a blip on his Radar. "Well what do you know" "what?" "Someone is looting a Music Store, time to go stop them". Black Hand then turned left down a street and raced down reaching the store in question. one of the Store's windows was broken, and from what it looked liek outside it was beign thuroughly looted. Black Hand activated the 60mm cannon on the Destroyer and exited it, the destroyer closing up behidn him. Black Hand activated the Steel BRass knuckles on his suit's gauntlets and approached the door of the store. He opened it and entered, "Gonna give you a warning right now, surrender"

Eisen Foundation Headquarters, Stahlgarde

The meeting hall was empty except for two figures. One, reclined in a chair was a middle aged gentleman in a fine suit. The other a rather tall and classically attractive blonde woman, similarly attired. The eldest spoke first.

"Edith I have a very special assignment for you".

"What is it father?", the younger replied with the slightest hint of a smile on her face, one she used generally as a sign of good faith. Her father did the same, still proud of his greatest work.

"Well, I'm sure you're aware of the situation in the Americans". The smile faded off of Edith's face.

"Yes I'm aware, but what does that have to do with our mission here".

"Well quite simply, it is a good research opportunity. The enormous number of super powered beings that are present there dramatically outnumber those in Europe for some reason. I aim to get to the bottom of it".

"How will I do this and run the foundation".

"I'm sure you'll find a way".

"Very well father". Edith took a slight bow and left the room. The older man pressed something on the glass table.

"Yes Count Eisen?", replied a young voice.

"I need to secure air transit for two to the United States. There are things that need to be done there".

"Yes herr Count". Count Eisen got up and left the room.

"Thank you very much." Laurel stood up, glanced around cautiously, then gave Stone a flourishing bow, "I am assuming you will see Alrick before I do. If so, please tell him that I am going to get this file, then I am going to return to Elphame. I will find him on his return from... wherever he is."

She put the new scabbard over her shoulder, testing the draw with her left hand, then nodded in satisfaction, "Thank you for the weapon. May I keep it until this business with the SCP, or whatever the mortal organization is called, is concluded?"

"If I may be excused now? I have a quest to attend to."

"You are excused, but if I may, I'd advise you to go back to where he lives. That is, Helsinki, it would be preferable for him, at least he'd have someone to see after all this bullshit. And feel free to keep it. I can always make another one until you're done with the SCP. Although, they won't be the ones to kill Alrick, trust me." The god spoke, he didn't disappear immediately, but simply waited for Laurel to go before leaving himself.

"You'll meet me way more now that you're part of the family, just saying."

Mr. Grin froze. It peeked out over a kitchen island, the two white orbs of its eyes staring a hole through Alice. She heard a slight giggle, which was in her head. Mr. Grin was beginning to flood her mind with a slowly building cacophony of maddening laughter and whispers, seeking to distract her. It pride open the fridge, and grabbed as much as it could, scooping food items under its cost, storing them within its body. It kept up its mental assault as it looted the kitchen, hoping to keep her from causing it harm.
